Thai Orchid has been a solid lunch choice when I have decided to order out/not bring a packed lunch. Both in terms of delivery and sit down, the lunch service is very fast and the staff is very helpful and quick with the dishes. I usually order the Pad Kee Mao or Pad See Eww lunch special when dining in. The portions are just the right size and you aren't feeling too full from the additional soup, salad, and spring roll that is provided. I love the coconut milk soup that is part of the lunch special. It has a nice tang from the lime and lemongrass present in it, but is a really light broth and not very heavy. When ordering delivery, I tend to get an order of the fresh salad rolls with either the Yum Wun Sen, Papaya Salad, or Tasty Eggplant. The mains are quite generous and I usually have enough for leftovers. I do like their papaya salad, but their Yum Wun Sen isn't my top favorite - the dressing is a little sweet for me, but the ingredients are fresh. This is the 3rd time I am leaving a review about this restaurant and unfortunately the stars are only degrading every time. After a sour last experience about 10 months ago, I chose to try this place again just a few weeks ago. Ended with yet another sour experience. I was the only one when I went for lunch this time. As I was placing a vegetarian order, I was making sure the waiter understood me so I repeated my order. But no, she wouldn't have it. She immediately cut me off by saying "I got it" in a very rude tone. I could have chosen to leave the place right there but I gave the benefit of the doubt for both of us. My specific request for her was that not to add mushrooms. So, just to be on the safer side I repeated my entire order again and she cut me off. When I got my food, guess what? Mushrooms were right on that. Clearly, we can see it. I could have still left without eating and just pay them for making the food, but I didn't do that. I ate the rest of the food without saying anything to the waiter and leaving out the mushrooms. She never even came back to ask if I needed anything or if I was doing okay. And the restaurant was not even busy at the time I went. I don't think I will ever try this place again. Unfortunately, customer service is so badly degrading in the restaurant business. read more

Came here as I was craving Thai so did a take-out order. I appreciate how fast the service is here. The minute I walked in my order was already ready. Shoutout to this place for also being accommodating and giving me extra dry spice on the side. I ordered a chicken red curry and it was delicious. Service and the interior were both very good. Albeit the restaurant suffers from winter door syndrome where people coming in let in cold air so try and sit away from the entry in the winter. Huge menu with many Thai choices. I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai. I wasn't impressed by the protein at all. While the dish looked great the chicken was colder than the noodles and a bit dry. The noodles and sauce were great and were warm and the sauce tasted great. It was close by where I was staying and thought I would try it out. I got the Beef Pad Thai at Medium Hot spicy level as a litmus test. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Noodles weren't too thin (hate this) and the sauce wasn't too watery. Vegies/toppings weren't overcooked so there was a nice balance of freshness to savory/salty flavor. This is one of my favorite lunch spots. The lunch menu isn't extensive but gives enough variety while ensuring that they can get those items out quickly. Service is very attentive and fast. They never let your water get below half full. I've seen a few new customers be amazed that the coconut soup comes out before they've even ordered. It comes with every lunch option but it sometimes comes out so quickly that they may not have even had a chance to see that on the menu. I almost always go for the pad see ewe. I've tried several things on the menu but keep coming back to that. Every lunch option comes with soup, salad and a small spring roll. And you can't beat the price. I feel like Asian strip mall restaurants are a dime a dozen but they also offer some of the best service and food I've experienced. The service here is outstanding. Attentive, kind, friendly and consistent. But the food is the star of the show. As someone on a quest for great Crab Rangoon, this is probably the best I've had in a very long time. The Pad Thai was superior and I was able to eat leftovers for 2 days after which I appreciate because I'm always broke. My friend swears by the coconut soup and everyone at the table raved about this great little spot hidden in plain view. My main dish was Chicken Padd Thai, medium hot. I got a mountain of noodles and they were absolutely delish. I love that these are not just rice noodles bathed in the sweet Thai chili as is often the case. Not here, nicely flavored and just the way it's supposed to be. Loved it, you may want to order up on the spice spectrum though. Why not 5 points? The curry sauce was perfect--I ordered mild and it was still spicy, so be careful. The chicken was mostly over cooked and chewy. The vegetables were cooked slightly, but definitely had a bite to them, which I actually liked. I give these two dishes a 3 star because there were elements that were very good, but in some areas, fell short. Probably worth trying again the next time I'm in Indianapolis. read more

Mixed veggies and tofu was ok again nothing outstanding and not at all bad either. The service was warm and friendly.
