Peanut tofu appetizer - delicious and filling
    Victoria G.

Beautiful location on the creek. Beautiful cozy ambiance inside and out. They had several vegan options on the menu. The service was good. I got the special cocktail - lychee mojito. I also got the peanut tofu appetizer - delicious and filling! Walking distance to the Shakespeare festival plays.

We were spoilt for choice when it came to dinner options in Ashland, but we settled on one close to our hotel, Thai Pepper, after a review of several menus in the area. We are able to walk in and be seated immediately, despite not having a reservation, which was nice. Our table was out back on the patio, not far from the rail that overlooks the creek. Festoon lighting hanging overhead made for a cozy experience as the sun began to set. I'd settled on what I was going to order long before ever being seated: the Tiger Cries had all the right words attached to it: steak, onions, tomatoes, lime, garlic, peppers. I knew I was in for something great! My wife ordered the Yellow Country curry, with tofu instead of chicken, and our daughter went with the Spicy Lemongrass Soup. An order of Tiger Rolls was shared amongst all. The Tiger Rolls were ridiculously creamy, a little light on the crab, but otherwise excellent; I wish there'd been more than four! My wife enjoyed her Yellow Country, as she is a fan of curry more so than myself, and commented on the richness of its sauce, fresh veggies, and just enough spice to hit all the right notes. Our daughter made similar comments about her Spicy Lemongrass soup, enjoying the pleasant spiciness and the savory broth, although she was put off by the texture of the straw mushrooms, of which even my wife, a fervent mycophile, wasn't a fan. These could probably be substituted for a more celebrated mushroom (shiitake?) without compromising the integrity of the dish. I saved the best for last: the Tiger Cries! Although, I was the one nearly in tears, and not from spiciness (it's not), but from the utterly rapturous flavors! The flank steak was perfectly cooked to medium rare, and the sauteed onions and tomatoes were excellent as well, but the star of the dish was the Serrano-Garlic-Lime sauce. Holy hell, I could drink that stuff straight! A little heat, a little garlic, and a sharp twinge of lime by itself was already incredible, but elevated to nirvana when paired with the flank steak. I haven't had a steak experience as good as this since my last trip to Japan! My only gripe about the dish is that it ended too soon; the portion size could be a little larger, and I would be more than willing to pay more than the $21 asking price to accommodate such a request. Our server was elegant, articulate, had memorized all the specials down to minute details of the ingredients, offered suggestions and favorites from the menu, and another highlight of the experience. I wish I'd caught her name, to give praise to the manager on her behalf, but unfortunately I did not catch it. Known for its Shakespeare festival, I did not anticipate that our finest dining experience in Ashland would be at a Thai restaurant over, say, a British one, but this was a happy surprise, and one that I hope to revisit the next time we're in town. Until then, this Tiger will be crying until he can tear into another flank steak coated in that amazing sauce.

    Rack of lamb, perfectly mid-rare.

After a less than perfect start, and only dining at Thai Pepper for lunches for years, we started going for dinners a couple of years ago (pre-Covid). Oh man. This is what we had been missing. Excellent cocktails, top-notch seafood curry, and lamb chops to die for. Plus fried bananas and ice cream for dessert. Pro-tip: sit by the creek, especially in the spring when the snowmelt is roaring by. Beautiful setting. We have 215 check-ins here (and probably missed some), so they're clearly doing somethings right: the food, and the cocktails, and the service. Wait, that's all there is :D

    Yellow Country Curry, highly recommended

Beautiful ambience - it's a creek side restaurant. Yellow curry was bland and had WAY TOO MANY onions for some reason.

They had really gone downhill with poor food quality and food running out. There were none of those problems today. There was an abundance of delicious food choices which were kept well stocked even though we were there at 3 pm between lunch and dinner. My friend doesn't eat red meat but there were ample chicken and seafood dishes to satisfy his hearty appetite. He remarked too on some of the unusual flavors~ everything wasn't bland and tasteless. I especially enjoyed several varieties of sushi as an appetizer before filling my plate with the hot food. Our table was kept cleared of our used plates as it was nice to start with a clean plate on each trip. We spent an hour and a half enjoying the tasty food and conversation. No need for me to eat dinner tonight! My friend remarked that he wished he lived closer to the New Tin Tin Buffet (we both live in Ashland) as he'd be eating there every day! We couldn't have had a better experience~ the New Tin Tin Buffet is terrific!

We had a fabulous time eating dinner here at the Tin Tin Chinese buffet. The price on weekday dinners is around $18 ...and NO tax! Please tip though. This is a pretty big place with a decent sized buffet. There's more choices than I could even try. Old dried cold food? Not here! Everything was hot and fresh as I saw trays being replenished. We went around 5pm, so yeah if you are not so smart and show up 15 minutes before they close, no the food will not be fresh and many trays will be empty, cause no business is gonna fill trays with new food right at the end and then have to toss out a ton of food after they close! We were seated in a nice booth and there seemed to be a lot of other people enjoying the food here, plates piled high with seafood and other tasty looking foods. They have all the standard American Chinese food people expect, like sweet and sour pork, egg rolls, fried rice, hot and sour soup, broccoli beef and honey walnut prawns along with some dishes I didn't know what they were. But besides these standard dishes, some more authentic dishes were available as well, like deep fried calamari with jalapeno and salt, whole baked salmon and steamed white fish, stir fried green beans with garlic, salt and pepper fried whole prawns. No chicken feet though! Some dishes I've not see at a buffet were, pulled BBQ pork, Chinese BBQ pork, sweet and sour meatballs on a skewer and even custard tarts for dessert! There's plenty of choices for all tastes, even a section of spicy Korean foods as well as sushi rolls. There is even a cold foods and salad section ... I passed saving tummy room for hot foods! The quality of all the food was above average for buffets and or equal to a sit down and order ala carte place. Drinks besides water are not included in the base price. Sushi wasn't the best, but I come for the Chinese food. Service was fine. Every time we went back to the buffet to get more food, the dirty plates were cleared from the table upon my return. I'd recommend this place for an easy dinner for a large party or just two! Or five!

A happy hour menu was posted in the window-from 4-5pm every day of the week. We got in during happy hour and were able to score one of the few outdoor creekside tables. It was super pleasant to be able to sit outside and hear the creek while eating delicious food. Ordered the house made blackberry soda-pretty good. Also had the happy hour fried chicken and hh burger, as well as the scallops off of the main menu. The burger was thick and juicy. My kids and husband said the fries were some of the best they've had-crispy exterior and soft interior. Fried chicken had a light crispy coating on the outside and the honey Aleppo mixture was great, though son said it could've used a little more salt. My scallops were some of the best scallops I've ever had before--so well cooked and perfectly seasoned and with these thinly sliced snap peas that were just barely blanched that added texture and freshness to the dish. For dessert I had the olive oil cake with fresh berries--so delicious and perfect way to top off the meal. Service was pretty good. Would def be back!

As a chef at two James Beard-winning restaurants, a server, owner, and consultant, I have dedicated my life to the food industry and the people within it. I'm from Ashland, and I was so happy when places like this started showing up in my hometown. Good food and atmosphere can be so hard to find. Coming home to Ashland can be a true oasis for my family. My wife and I have made it our life's mission to make our daughter feel equal and included. Our daughter was born with a rare condition called AMC and does not have normal function in any of her limbs. She currently spends 3-4 days a week in physical therapy to continue building strength so her body and organs can function properly. We were visiting family at the park and suggested stopping in for a beverage and snacks to escape the heat after a long day. We typically plan everything ahead to ensure wherever we go can accommodate my daughter's wheelchair and needs. When we arrived, we thought, "Wow, perfect, she can wheel right in and up to one of the many open tables." Once we were "greeted" by the host, I realized we were not who she wanted to deal with. Three kids, three adults, a stroller, and a wheelchair. She looked like she wanted nothing to do with us, like we were dirt on her shoe. "No reservation," she said. I replied, "Yeah, so sorry, we figured since it was a Monday night right when you opened, and there were only two two-tops seated, we could probably find somewhere to sit." I reassured her we would not stay long enough to impact reservations at the larger front tables, which usually have reserved markers on them but did not at the time. We could all feel that she didn't want to seat us, and we left despite me practically begging to make something work for us, because I know she could have if she wanted to. Being from the industry, I understand what kids can do to an atmosphere, and I know a lot of restaurant workers don't enjoy dealing with other people's children. But when we went outside and my daughter cried and said, "They didn't want me there" So I loaded my daughter's wheelchair back into the car so I could carry her up the stairs at Brickroom, where one employee was working the entire place and took amazing care of us, I might add. We resorted to a booster seat for my daughter since she couldn't use her wheelchair there. She ended up falling out of the seat and slamming onto the hardwood floor. She cried and was embarrassed. The young man tending bar while also waiting every table rushed over with a bag of ice to comfort her. It was honestly touching how kind he was. When we left Brickroom, we had spent more time there than we originally intended to spend at Bar Juliet. As we walked back by Bar Juliet, we noticed the restaurant was still only about half full, and one of the large front tables had remained open the entire time from around 4:10 until 5:40 when we walked by again. I had to stop and ask the host why she couldn't have seated us considering that table never filled. Her only explanation was, "Our kitchen is slow getting food out." Such an incredibly weak excuse. I hope she understands she was wrong and that she made my daughter feel unwanted simply because accommodating us wasn't convenient for her. I have never left a review in my life, but I was so saddened and disgusted by this experience that I felt I had to.
