The restaurant was filled red tables that were adorned Asian art and architecture I ordered some Fresh Spring Rolls as an appetizer The soft spring rolls burst with freshness--crisp veggies, succulent shrimp, and a delightful plum-peanut sauce. A great start! While the beef pad thai was decent, it lacked that extra oomph. Perhaps a dash more flavor would elevate it. Unfortunately, our server seemed disengaged. If I have the story right, there were two guys, partners in every sense of the word, that had a thai restaurant across the street from this location. Apparently, they had an argument and decided to separate. So, this guy decided to open a thai restaurant of his own...across the hwy. :) Looks like his menu was the best since he's still here and the original thai place now sells seafood dishes and a not-bad eggplant parm. Anyway, the food here is excellent even if the atmosphere was a little too commercial for my tastes. Petunia usually gets the Pad Thai, white girl spicy, while I almost always get the Panang Curry, extra spicy. I used to bet the chefs $20 they couldn't burn my mouth, but I felt guilty taking their money, ha ha ha! Just kidding, but I do like my curry excruciatingly hot. The lunch menu was avarege, the Thai tea was a bit too sweet! The pad thai was a bit dry on the sauce, but the Tofu was well prepared. This is my all time favorite Thai restaurant. I've eaten Thai in several states, but this Louisiana spot stands out. The food is always cooked fresh, served hot, and full of flavor. From the Spring Rolls, the Hot & Sour Soup, to the Pad See Ew, my meals are always perfection! The service is friendly, the food is prepared quickly, and the lunch specials are priced right! You just can't go wrong here. The only down side is they close at 2:30 and then reopen later for dinner. It's only a down side because I tend to get there around that time! lol, So that's on me! Fantastic find in Covington. I live in Atlanta but come to Covington to visit my family several times a year. I'm always looking for a good Thai restaurant and hadnt found one yet. I ordered the masaman curry (with chicken) and it was spiced perfectly and was coconuty. I don't like potatoes or carrots in my curry so I held on those and added a few sprigs of broccoli! It was Devine and even my mother said it was the best she could have an a very long time! We also Ordered Pad Thai (chicken) with glass noodles (I think they called it silver) and it was excellent. My parents will be ordering weekly now! Also Becky answered the phone and was very knowledgeable and courteous. Amazing. This was one of my favorite meals of all time. Let me start by saying I use to be a meat and potatoes guy. No exotic food, just meat and all of its meaty goodness. Within the past few years I have expanded my culinary horizons, and I am glad I have. If not, I would have never tried Thai Spice. We started with an order of fried calamari. These calamari were very large and resembled onion rings. They were cooked perfectly and tasted wonderful. The sauce that came with it was sweet and thick. Next was hot and sour and egg drop soup. Both were excellent. Both were also different from the Chinese versions I have previously had. Normally I despise egg drop, but their version was incredible. I think it even had crabmeat in it. For entrees we had chicken masaman curry done thai hot, shrimp pad thai and pad son woo. I was a little scared to order the curry thai hot but I love spicy. When I took my first bite I was in heaven. Taste heaven. To me, it wasn't very spicy. It was a combination of flavors that were so incredible this dish makes my top ten list of greatest meals of my life. I do not have the words to describe how the flavors meld together and excite all of your taste buds. It was amazing. I should note that while I didn't find it hot, my dining companion looked as if I had just punched her in the tongue when she tasted it. The pad thai and pad son woo were also wonderful. Every dish had such deep, complex flavors that join together to make unbelievably great flavors. I truly could not have imagined how wonderful this meal would be. Do yourself a favor. How I wish Slidell had Thai food like Thai Spice! Their Lunch Specials are pretty good! Everything from decor, service, food, and cleanliness are good to great. We sat down at 2pm, even though they closed at 2:30pm. Lunch special comes with a yummy hot and sour soup and small spring roll. We decided to try this place as it seems to get good reviews and we have pretty much tried all the others on the North Shore. I actually think this is the worst Thai we have had in a long time and I am really, really surprised by the good reviews. It is definitely the worst on the North Shore of all the choices, and there are several good Thai restaurants in the area. The atmosphere- Inside the decor was decent. The restaurant is located in a strip plaza, but that is hard to avoid in general these days. The walls were painted a nice shade of Green and there were nicely folded cloth napkins, nice plates, and good soft lighting. The place is small, about 15 tables or so, but not tiny. It was Monday night and we were the only people in the place for the entire meal. The Food- We started with the Thai spring rolls- $4.95/4. These were as expected. Crunchy and filled with cabbage and served with a sweet & sour sauce. They were decent. We also ordered the Chicken Satay - $6.95/4. Thee were AWFUL! They were so dry and small, it was like trying to eat shoe leather. They came with peanut sauce which did not quite taste correct, and I love peanut sauce. It was lacking something-lemongrass or coconut- something. It also was supposed to come with cucumber sauce and instead is came with more sweet & sour sauce (like for the rolls). Because they were so dry, this really killed it for us. The combo of vinegar/cucumber sauce and peanut sauce enhance the flavor so much and here the entire dish fell flat and was a waste of calories and money. We also ordered a large Tom Yum soup with chicken- $8.95. This arrived luke warm, no spice and with gristly chicken we were both spitting out. No flavor and lower quality ingredients. For our main dishes, I ordered the peanut sauce with veggies and chicken and was told that they no longer make this, even though they had all the ingredients to make it- because "not many people order it". Ummm, ok......So I tried the Red Curry with Tofu instead - $10.95. This had an OK flavor, but it was very watery, not a nice thick sauce as expected. I did appreciate that it had several different types of veggies in it like broccoli, green beans, eggplant, carrots, but it was a shallow dish and not a very large portion like Sala Thai who give you wonderful, large portions. My partner had the Pineapple Fried Rice- $12.95. He picked at this. It was very spicy but with very little flavor and although he ordered chicken, it looked like it arrived with chicken and beef, given the colors of the meat. I tried it and have to agree that it was hot but lacked flavor. The service was fine, and our server was nice. We were the only people there, so had we received bad service I would have been really surprised! All in all, we would never go back here again. The food was all a little off with the flavors, and when spending over $50 for a meal, you really want to enjoy your food, not sit there wishing more and more that you had just gone to your usual Sala Thai and really enjoyed your meal!! read more
