This was a meal for my friends birthday and absolutely appalling!! We ordered from the bar and grill menu, the rump steak was asked to be cooked medium, but was almost rare, the knife wouldn't even cut through it, it was cold, gristly and chewy. I had 1 piece but couldn't chew it well enough to swallow, the chips tasted like oven chips and were raw in the middle. My friend ordered the fish and chips, and to be fair, the fish was not horrific, however, the skin was still on it and was soggy and there were lots of pieces of grey fish, and her chips were also raw in the middle. We left both meals, and was asked what was wrong with the steak, we told him, he offered to replace it but we refused as it had ruined the evening and the quality of the steak would still be rubbish. he took off the price of our drinks which was £7 but still charged full price for all of the food! There was no atmosphere in there, and other customers as well as us were all coughing as the cook had burnt chilli and it permeated all through the room. My friend texted me an article about the best Thai places in Kensington and low and behold Thai Terrace many the article and my favorite place did not. My friend and I decided to try it. Food= 2.5 stars Service= less than 1 star Food: We ordered the panang curry, fried rice, Thai salad, Tom gai soup, and some grilled seafood dish. All of which were below average and the panang curry was the worst I have ever had. Service: One person came to take our order, and another to bring our check. No one checked on us at all the entire time. Had to practically yell across the quiet restaurant to ask for more water. Also, when I asked for the bill (because I had to ask of course), it took a really long time to get the check despite the restaurant being extremely slow on a Monday night. Additionally, the owner's son, Daniel, who seems to be the manager there, was rude and extremely arrogant, rolling his eyes at us quite a few times. Horrible experience altogether. We came in as a group of 10 and decided that one half wanted to order dishes while the other half of the group wanted a meal combination. I didn't care so we sat with the combo table. I was very happy with the choice. I must admit, the staff were not fluent in English. Honestly, there were at least two the didn't understand it at all. Thankfully they were only bringing stuff out and offering water. I really enjoyed the meal, although I couldn't tell you what any of it was. Speaking from the perspective of a weary traveler Thai Terrace provides exactly what I want every time I go. I want only a quiet meal for little money close to home and quickly. Thai Terrace provides a cheap meal (nearly unheard of in this area) in a quiet and classy setting with candle lit tables. The food was good, but the servers (possibly due to a language barrier?) were simply uninterested in actually serving their customers. It seemed that they were more interested in taking orders quickly and then just dropping off the food....which makes it a bit frustrating that Thai Terrace pre-charges an "optional" 20% service fee on the bill. Not impressed really.. First night out in London with my bf and we chose this place. When we first entered the ambience was very nice and Thai but in the dining hall/room it was very loud and we got a table just right in the middle, which was quite a mood kill with the staff almost running back and forth all the time. And they seem pretty nice at first, but after you order they seem soooo busy. The only thing they got right was our beverages and main course but after that, almost everything went wrong. At one point we got the tab without asking for it just after we ordered desserts. Apparently it wasn't ours but it took them quite some time to realize it. I left before dinner because the service was abominable. I was seated by the host. The waiter came by and got upset that I had apparently taken a table he had for a couple. He spoke very loudly about how I couldn't sit at the table and ordered me to move to another table. I was extremely flustered and embarrassed because it's a small restaurant and he was making it seem like it was my fault that I was seated at the wrong table. But I moved and behind my back he said "wow" in a condescending manner, clearly still mad at me for taking the table. He then escorted the couple to my former table telling them that I had taken their table. He finally came by to take my order, but I was so upset I said that I thought I was just going to leave instead. He loudly said "Ok bye!" He was incredibly rude and I was so embarrassed. What a horrible experience. I have lived in Kensington for a year and I can say this is the worst service I have ever seen in this area. My advice is to avoid this restaurant. I saw the reviews after I sat at the table cause it was very late and I was just happy to find this place open near my hotel. Not the worst thai but also not the best. The dishes I ordered resembled actual Thai food but certainly were not the real deal. Portion size for my curry was good but I hate it that you always have to pay extra for plain white rice. Most curries need rice so I never understand why something as cheap as rice cannot be included. Also, every Thai restaurant I've ever been to had mango and sticky rice for dessert but not this one. Rather odd. Service as mentioned in other reviews was a bit cold. The man who sat me at my table was nice but the female taking my order needs to get a personality. It's kind of required when you are in a customer service profession. Another word on my table. As I said, I arrived really late so only 2 other tables were occupied. Why they sat me nearest the entrance to the dining room I don't know. Same said waitress and kitchen staff made a ton of noise as they cleaned or prepared their plates and silverware for the next day. That was very annoying. There were plenty of other tables they could have put me in this nice dining room. And for the included service automatically added to the bill. I looked for it and sure enough it was there but 10% was added, not 20. If it were 20% I would have said something. I just think it is wrong to assume that anyone deserves a tip. Miss no personality surely did not. So if I want Thai food in London, I won't be returning here unless desperate. They have some of the best Tom Yum soup I have had. The curries are good but could use more heat. The banana desert was fabulous.

Quite good. The service is friendly and helpful, and really represents service which is a rarity these days it seems. Food was very good, but I will agree the curry is mild.
