Went here on a Friday for late lunch with my mom. The food at this restaurant is delicious. We had the chicken udon and pork ramen, both were wonderful! Will need to come again as there is a wide array of Japanese and Thai dishes to choose from. When I got home, I realized I didn't receive any fried rice, there was some other noodle dish that I couldn't eat cause it was definitely the highest spice level and tasted like crap. Well, technically it's Thai Thani Oishi now, so if you get here and there's an added word to the sign, you're at the right place. Located in the same shopping center as Safeway, California Fish Grill, Plucked Chicken & Beer, Jack's Urban Eats, and more, there's no shortage of places to get a good meal. Thai Thani is the same owner as Torsap's located in downtown Walnut Creek. However, this place is more of a fusion spot where it serves both sushi and thai cuisine combined. They have separate menu for each side of the cuisine. There's a lot of options for both of the cuisines, with menu options that are kind of messy at times with how many selections you can choose from, but might be fun to take a look through both menus. The staff here are good, no complaints. Pricing wise, it's not bad considering the portion sizes you get for the food here. Today we ordered a few things: BBQ Chicken & Papaya Salad Combo Appetizer, Salmon Glory, and Pad See Ew w/Beef. The BBQ Chicken & Papaya Salad Combo is an appetizer plate. There's a pretty good piece of BBQ Chicken thigh and leg on the plate that arrives, but most of the plate really is just Papaya Salad with some regular greens for a salad, but it has no dressing, so that part is kinda confusing. There's also some sticky rice that's included on the plate. The portions of the plate are pretty good, but some parts of this plate doesn't really seem like it was fully thought out, especially the regular salad with no dressing. Salmon Glory was something we saw on the menu and knew we just had to have it, mainly just because it sounds...glorious. The dish is a crispy noodle dish, so the noodles included on the plate are a bit crunchy, which is pretty good. The sauce it uses is a coconut curry like sauce, so once you get the noodles, I would recommend turning the whole noodles upside down first so the sauces from the bottom of the noodles can drip down onto the crunchy parts as well to make it easier to eat, and also more flavorful. The salmon in the dish was okay, nothing extraordinary. There's also some peppers in this dish and other veggies, so pretty balanced. I wasn't really sure what I was expecting when I ordered this mainly just because of the name, but it actually panned out quite well. The last dish was the Pad See Ew w/Beef. The Pad See Ew here is pretty good. The flavoring they use for their dish is more on the sweeter side but still keeps enough of the savory to make it a yummy flat noodle dish. The beef they use here is also good quality, and the veggies were also nicely cooked. Solid dish for those who have a craving for Pad See Ew. Can't speak for much about the sushi side, but the Thai side is pretty solid. This place is also pretty huge, so there should always be seats even on a busier day, or at least shorter wait, although I do feel the people making the food are a tad slow. A big menu and plenty of selections for both cuisines, and at least for the Thai side, comparable prices to the portions you get. Would definitely be back again to try some of their other Thai dishes in the future. read more

It was great to have both Japanese and Thai food In one place. We've been wanting to try this place for a while, but it's located In a plaza with very limited parking, so we usually pass. We finally got to check out the place and inside is decorated with a nice fusion of Japanese and Thai decor. The service was nice, at first a little slow but after all the food was ordered they were quick to come around frequently to ask how we were doing and how the food tasted. We ordered a few things with the lunch menu, it was a pretty large size for lunch. We tried the spider roll, pad Thai , yellow curry and ramen. The ramen wasn't flavored to what we are used to. Was pretty light on flavor. The spider roll was alright - it was made differently and had a good crunch. The pad Thai and the yellow curry I would say tasted good and as it should. The only concern was that the noodles felt a little over cooked and there was very little chicken in the yellow curry. But flavor was on point! Thai Thani Restaurant has been around for nearly two years and is the only Asian restaurant in the Orchards shopping center, specializing in both Thai and Japanese cuisines. My friend's dad treated me to lunch here on 03/14/2021 after a range outing nearby. We appeared to be their first customers of the day when we walked in just after 11 am. The staff promptly greeted us. The interior looked spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated. Even though indoor dining was allowed per the state's COVID restrictions, we opted to sit outside. The outing was significant since it was my first time dining out since the beginning of the pandemic. One of the staffers brought us menus and got us started on drinks. She had gloves and a mask on. The menus were extensive, which made my decision somewhat difficult. Originally, I wanted a lunch bento but was told it's not available on weekends. I finally settled on the Rib Eye Teriyaki ($18) while my friend's dad opted for the Chicken Teriyaki ($15). Miso soup and a bowl of salad were served before the plates came out. They were pretty ordinary. The soup tasted fine but was lukewarm. The salad, made with iceberg lettuce and shredded carrots, was nothing to write home about. My plate was pretty much just meat and rice. I thought for $18, they could have thrown in a broccoli floret or two instead of the little bit of shredded cabbage that was buried beneath the meat. Like the soup, the temperature was lukewarm. The rib eye was drowned in a pool of sauce. It was sliced thinly, tender, and not dry. Honestly, I couldn't taste much of the beef because of the over application of sauce. I didn't ask my friend's dad about his food. The staffers we encountered were polite and friendly. All things considered, I believe a 3-star rating is fair. With several better options nearby, it's unlikely that I will return. This is a hidden gem find for me in the new plaza at Oak Grove/Ygnacio Valley. I was organizing birthday dinner and tried to find a place that would satisfy both Thai and Japanese requests. And voila! This location hosts two restaurants in one with hefty menu's for each! Just to be clear- this is not a fusion restaurant. They have kept both cuisines distinct on two separate menus. Location/Decore: 5/5. It's truly a hidden gem. So much so that I circled the lot once until I found it! Parking is cramped immediately in front so I recommend parking on the Wells Fargo side in public parking. The inside is well done with decorations reminding you of Thailand and Japan. It's tastefully done and provides a real relaxing vibe to the restaurant. Staff: 4/5. They are a dedicated group from the front of the house, to the servers, sushi chef and kitchen! This place seemed much more busy with to-go/pick-up orders vs in-door diners. There were few times that we didn't see our server so perhaps a check in every 10-15 minutes could be a process improvement. Food: 5/5! I genuinely thought that trying to host both Thai and Japanese cuisine may turn into generally mediocre dishes. I was wrong! I'll let the photos speak for themselves but my favorites were: veg samosa, green curry Thai Hot and the Mieng Kim appetizer. Everything was well-seasoned, filled with flavor. We cleaned off every plate and took minimal food home with us! I will certainly return for a meal real soon. At the end, the owner came by to ask how we enjoyed our visit and we raved. He is a kind man and you can tell that this family and group have put in hard work and commitment to making this place a success. My favorite Thai/Laotian restaurant closed years ago in Concord and I've been searching for a new one since. I've been to all the others in town and in Walnut Creek. We visited for lunch and confirmed with the staff that our dogs were allowed in the outside patio. The patio had a good number of seats right in front of the entrance. It was a chilly day so we were the only ones outside. The interior looked really nice and the bathrooms were clean. The staff was very friendly, polite and prompt. At first, we were a little confused when we got two menus: Japanese and Thai. Same building but two separate restaurants in one. We ordered the Chicken Basilica Rolls, Phad Kee Mao and Pineapple Yellow Curry Fried Rice. Everything tasted fresh and the portions were just right for us. Absolutely love Thai Thani! Located in the Orchards shopping center in Walnut Creek, parking is plentiful. What's unique about their menu is that it features a complete sushi and Japanese menu in addition to a robust Thai menu. Before Covid, I'd dined in several times and the ambiance was cozy and service excellent. Over the last year I've gotten takeout several times and every time it's been easy to order online, well packaged to take home and always ready in 30 minutes or less. When I'm in the mood for sushi, I'm a fan of their vegetable maki accompanied by a side seaweed salad. When I'm feeling Thai, my favorite dish by far is their cashew tofu and veggies-very fresh veggies, not greasy and plenty of leftovers. Staff are very kind and always grateful for your business. This restaurant has menus for Thai food and Japanese food which is something I have never seen before. While the staff were very friendly when we were seated, they hardly came to check on us throughout the meal. The food was mediocre at best. I ordered yellow curry medium spicy and it wasn't spicy at all. The pad Thai was also lacking flavor and the sushi roll we ordered was drenched in sauce so the texture became very mushy. While the restaurant is pretty inside and is located in a nice plaza, the food was just okay and there is limited parking in front of the restaurant and in the plaza in general due to the number of restaurants and grocery stores. read more

This place did lived up to its Yelp reviews. The employees were attentive and friendly. One of the servers tried to get an umbrella above our eating area since it started to drizzle but it was just too difficult and would not work. Such a hidden gem, located in the Ygnacio Valley shopping center, Thai Thani is also in the same restaurant as a Japanese restaurant. Great prices for the portions and never really disappointed by anything here. An absolute must-try is the Spicy Fish with Apple Salad. The egg rolls were just ok, they were vegetarian and seemed slightly mushy. 7/10 Combo thanks fried rice - good amount of proteins but was lacking flavor. Still could clearly taste Thai spices but was definitely lacking. 6/10 Tom kha vegetarian - i love a good Tom kha. Flavorful, full of veggies and tofu. Ambiance and service was stellar with great decor and lots of staff coming back to serve us. My friend held a party here for the end of the year. Tom ka was 5/5. Highly recommend this dish. It's a coconut milk based soup that was slightly sour with mushroom, chicken, and tomato. The waitress didn't recommend eating it with rice, but I definitely think you should order one on the side. Pad thai was 2/5. I was on the edge of ordering this one. Some reviews said it was bad, but another photo made it look appetizing. Once we took a bite, we instantly knew we made the wrong decision. The pad thai was so flavorless!!! We had to ask for fish sauce and chili flakes to help it. Pad thai should have a good balance of sweetness and savory. Do yourself a favor and skip this dish!! TLDR; takeout service and phone is slow/meh, food is great We placed an order online during weekday evening. Their phone number is either faulty or super busy. The call simply would not go through while attempting the number several times within 15 min. Finally realized we could order takeout online so we did that instead. When we came to pick up food, the wait was kind of long just to receive our food. It didn't look too busy inside so maybe just finishing making the food. Total wait since placing order was about 80 min. My photos don't do this place justice. I forgot to take some photos of our other food, but we loved it all and it certainly lasted us several meals. I ordered a noodle dish and it came on the side which was kind of small in my opinion but it came with a lot of meat so I'm not mad about it. The curry on the other hand was super rich, this was probably my favorite of all our food. We needed to cook more rice at home to go with it since it lasted us awhile. They did forget to give us proper utensils, when asked so there was some difficulty sharing our noodle and curry.. I'd come back here again for some more curry since it's down the street from me. Thai Thani is a relatively new addition to Walnut Creek, having only been open a couple of years. I love this place because not only do they have yummy Thai food, but they also have sushi. This is perfect when veggie husband gets sick of just getting avocado rolls; he can eat one of the many veggie Thai dishes and I can eat my salmon nigiri without feeling guilty. They have all the traditional Thai dishes and every time I have visited the food has been fresh and flavorful. Today for lunch I shared two specials with a friend. We had the Beef Phad Se Ew and Chicken Phad Bai Kapow along with an appetizer of Chicken Karaage. Our dishes were served with salad and soup and we had more than enough food, even taking some home. Phad Bai Kapow is one of my faves so I always get it and I prefer ground chicken though Thai Thani does give the option of sliced chicken. I also chose medium spicy, but next time will try hot. The dish had lots of flavor and there was plenty of sauce to top over my rice. For the Phad Se Ew, we chose beef and it was so tender you could practically cut it with a fork. Ordered pad see ew (2stars) - this is my go to dish at every Thai restaurant and do not recall a single time when I didn't like it... Until now! they seem to be using red chill pepper instead of Thai chilly pepper. The flavor was very lacking, we only tasted spicy.
