We found this beautiful place and I loved that it was super clean too! The giant overhead fans helped keep us cool because it was a hot sweaty day. We rented a golf cart and made our way over here. Their homemade scratch margaritas are good, but definitely not sweet enough... And ironically I don't like sweet. They just were a touch too sour, but I do love that they used only fresh ingredients. The surprising thing was the crab fingers... They were worth every dime. I could see the hard work the chef had to put into preparing them for us. They were mind blowing. I could eat a whole pound all by myself easily! The service was fantastic and the young waiter knew everything there was to know about the menu. I love the idea that we could bring our own fish that we caught and the chef would clean it and serve it for us for a small fee... We didn't do that, but I would love to try that next time. I love the tequila they used to make our margaritas, it is Toro. I wanted to take a picture of the bottle at our table drinking the margaritas. The manager must be used to people stealing or running off with their bottles of tequila, because she was not having that. I don't know if it was Covid fear, or crime fear, or just not wanting to hassle... But there was no photo shoots going to be happening at our table with the bottle of tequila. So we went up to the bar and asked if we could take a picture with the bottle... I just wanted you to know in my yelp review, which tequila to order because it was so good. So she said we could pose with the bottle, but not touch it. Maybe she was nervous about Covid. It's not a big deal, I just thought that was a little bit different. :/ And yet, don't let that discourage you from eating here. Our waiter was phenomenal and the service was truly great. Taking away two stars here for the following reasons:…read more For one, the enrollment fee was more than it is at most places. It's $40/month after that, which is pretty pricey. I had L.A. Fitness for $9/month after having been with them for more than three years, but circumstances forced me to choose a gym here in Brownsville. Also took away another star because the basketball gym floor's always dusty or dirty in the evenings. The basketball court here is what really sealed the deal. But after those yoga or Zumba classes in the afternoon, no one usually wipes or mopes the floor until 10 or 11 p.m. (Sometimes it's closer to midnight, once they're about to close.) A couple of the yoga mats that were used during these classes go back up on the wall underneath the basket, with sweat stains, and it stinks. Also, if the nets rip, good luck having them replace it promptly. Really, it costs $2-3 to replace it. If you're having members pay $40/month, you could certainly afford to keep things in tip-top shape. Lots of soccer fans in the area. Sometimes they'll go onto the basketball court, set up cones and starting blasting away shots. Really annoying when you have to duck your head to avoid getting hit. Other than that, the facility's really good. Lots of the equipment is up-to-date. Hardly ever gets full, so you never have to wait in line behind for anything. Wi-fi's pretty good, too, if you're looking to stream music. (I forget if I was able to stream YouTube, though. Doubt it.) They also have a separate theater inside, decked out with treadmills and bikes, showing a different movie each day of the week on the big screen. Sweet feature. Enjoyed the pool. Showers are good. Locker rooms are kept clean. Pretty spacious. Clean your gym floors, make sure the rims have nets and ease up on the $40/month, and you'll get 5 stars from me, Gold's. (Oh, and make sure there's a "no soccer on the basketball court" policy instituted, please.)

People sit on a machine and zone out on TikTok, 30 to 40 minutes at a time, but Gold's Gym doesn't have a policy on that. They allow it, so we are done with Golds. I am sure they will be missing my $39.99 a month. :-) Well, more like $80 because my wife is leaving too. The adults in the room should speak up so Gold can set up a policy.

Not near enough spaces for the shopping center it's in. Not their fault but man, the developers screwed them here. The layout: they have a huge HIIT area to the right as you walk in, a bunch of star cardio equipment that I'm going to circle back to, and plenty of power racks. The problem? It's so damn busy here. Getting a rack was a hassle, most benches were full. Machines are nautilus which... I'm kinda torn on. Better than matrix and hoist but barely. Now to the cardio machines. They have stair master rowers, that need maintenance. The chain was way too lax and really was a insufficient pull. Hate to say it but the matrix rowers are far superior. Never thought I'd say these words. Ever. The star cardio machines. Not a huge fan. The arch elliptical was awkward and hitchy. They tried to copy the precor and didn't work out so well. So overall; it's not a terrible gym. But it's far from a great one. Mainly due to how packed it was and the inconvenience of everything surrounding that. Syoy
