This is the high speed train that runs in Netherlands, Belgium, and France, and can save you up to 50% time than the slower running ones (for a heftier price of course). They have a good website and mobile app that can be used to purchase tickets. Everything is digital, so would need to have your ticket on your phone for scanning once the train moves forward. There is overhead space for your luggage (pretty much the same size as an airplane's). Any bigger luggage would need to be stored near the front or back. There is sufficient time to get on/off train, but one needs to be prepared...since the train will leave after a minute or two. Costs vary greatly depending on the time of day...we found the morning train was the most expensive with the cheapest being the late train of the day. The seats are reserved but can be numbered a little inconsistently (i.e. the seats next to each other are not always sequential). Some seats are around a table (for a slighly higher price) while others are the standard. They can either face forward or backwards, and if you want legroom, it is better to stay away from the table seats. The train inside was comfortable. read more

We came here to take the train back to Paris. It is directly connected to the Pullman Hotel which is convenient for those needing to stay close. The train station itself is a large with multi-levels so can be a little confusing. When we walked through, we had to navigate to go up an escalators to find our platform. Compared to other train stations, the staff were strict on checking tickets for correct carriages and times. This was the only train where our tickets were checked upon going on the train. The seats were comfy and the wifi was pretty reliable. The train was also quite fast. Around one hour to get from Brussels to Paris. Would travel again! read more

I absolutely loved this train, the ride and the personnel. We booked a first class and we're actually quite surprised they included food AND drinks. Like we knew about the drinks but had no idea about the food, so that was nice. Food was cold, meaning it would have been nicer if it was warm rice and chicken as opposed to cold, but whatever. The train was clean, and ample so we were super grateful. Highly recommend if you get a chance. read more

The train was from Paris to Amsterdam. Traveling 2nd class big mistake. The car wasn't even air conditioned. It was impossible to get anything to eat on board , the club was 14 and the attendant opened and closed at will. After waiting 5 minutes on line and she closed. Customer service stinks. We were told wrong information on where to go. Also the wireless was broken on 2 of our 4 segments. Sucked on The 3.5 hour one from Amsterdam to Paris. We had a mean ticket taker woman who threatenen my son with a 200 euro fine for not writing a date in. We had reservation tickets bought in 1st class from eurail in utah usa in advance. She was the only one that asked for the eurail pass since tge reservation said ticket on it. They serve a decent amount of food and drink but often ran out of the drinks we wanted. I would like diet coke or coke light not coke zero. They also ran out of cider and beers. Our train to Brussels was an hour late. Signs need to be improved on platform. They dont allocate much room for larger bags. Garbage bins wouldnt stay in. Bathrooms were poor. Some rows had tables. All tables had power. We needed our converter. The speed of the trains were nice. read more

Took two trains. First one from Paris to Brussels - cancelled because of "material" problems. Second Brussels to Amsterdam. Broke down in the middle - total delay over 5 hours. Maybe coincidence but in my experience, 100% of rides have issues. read more

I would rate this experience a 0 if possible. My family and I bought business tickets months prior to azure us a comfortable experience and get seats close to each other. A day before our trip the seats had been scattered. We took time off our vacation to visit the train station and try to fix the situation. Unfortunately they said it was something they couldn't fix on their own. The day of the train ride we arrived to find out our seats had been taken. They oversold the seats and there were several people with no where to sit including us. They moved people around and we finally got seats Ofcourse far away from eachother and not even the second seats that had been promised to us. Take your business elsewhere before thinking of chosing Thalys. It was a horrible and unprofessional experience. read more

Despite having so much trouble trying to purchase our tickets in advance via their website we were actually very relieved to be able to make an easy purchase through the Thalys desk at the Gare du Midi station. It was also far less complicated and much less a hassle--- the only downside was the prices were a bit more than what was advertised online, however for the general ease of it all I wasn't about to complain, and we didn't really purchase our tickets weeks in advance so their weren't many seating options readily available to begin with. We took Thalys from Bruxelles to Paris. Very quick and painless train ride. Wasn't expecting wifi or outlets, but was happy to be able to use the in-cabin outlets at our seats to charge my phone as well as the wifi was available for the trip toward Paris and was free-- so thought that was pretty nice. It was much more complicated and annoying to connect to on the trip back however. I think the whole wifi process was a little troublesome and took some poking around.. I'm also not a resident of Europe so there were some obstacles with that. But, really, not a big deal. You have to use your ticket to connect to the wifi and then there are a slew of questions. Overall, boarding the train was quick and easy. Extremely curious why we didn't have to wait in line so much in Paris on the return trip. They kinda just let us on really quickly. Would be happy to try Thalys out again. Maybe I just got a first timer's luck since this was my first time riding a high speed train. Make sure to book in advance as seats fill up. Well worn, we were disappointed. We were to catch a later train but one came in that was well over an hour late. We were told our train would be delayed as apparently this train had an issue with an animal on the tracks (very European-LOL). We were told if we found a seat we could take this train. It was more than half full but we found seats. We did not want to wait for our delayed train and decided to give it a try. Wrong decision. We had our luggage and it was difficult to find places to store it winding up having to have some of it on seats next to us. We hated taking up seating but had no choice. So, now we do not have our pre-arranged seats and sat with a lot of ticked-off travelers that were running late due to the train issue. There was no notice of a delay except on the Thalys website. The seats have seen better days (they were much cleaner our last rip four years ago) and the cars were not all that clean. Our tickets were never checked. We wound up getting to our destination a few minutes later than had our train been on time though we never checked to see what time our train actually arrived. I found this trip unusual as we had no prior issues on previous visits though we were surprised att he condition of the train. read more

Then finally got my seat and then it was taken because the train manager gave our seats to somebody be else. 98 euros a ticket for a bad experience. I would never use this company again. Will be demanding full refund and updating the review sites accordingly. read more

One week after #Brusselslockdown we had tickets to the Cologne Christmas market for the day booked. We're a Belgian / American couple and booked three tickets. Two for us and one for my mother from the US who was supposed to be visiting. Her plane was canceled due to the lockdown. Thalys made us pay the different of her ticket - an extra 140€!!!! After boarding. What??!! We were told that all of our party needed to be present or we had to pay the different or be police escorted off the train in Leige. What??!!!! We were told that we could have canceled the ticket - since counldnt change the name on the ticket. That would have been the only option! What??!! We were punished because of a one person not being with us because of a group ticket. What??!! What if one person was sick or couldn't come because of the lockdown. Thalys you are officially the Grinch of Christmas!!!!!! read more

Horrible customer service! I have been a member of their loyalty program for years and even still they wouldn't allow me to take an earlier train after a 22hour flight. Just buy a new, rediculously expensive ticket they said. They don't know what customer service or loyalty is. Use TGV or their low tier version (Izy) instead. I don't recommend Thalys!!! read more

This morning we took the train from Amsterdam to Paris our schedule departure time should be at 9:15am however for some reason it kept delay for an hour. We booked our sightseeing tour in Paris already but due to the delay we might need to reschedule our tour plan in Paris. According to the other passengers said it did happen a lot in Thalys. read more
