I teach meditation because it makes the world a happier, more enlightened place.
My name is Andrew Barrett and this is my Yelp page for the ancient, time-tested practice of Vedic Meditation. Vedic Meditation yields profound results through short, effective meditations that are easy to do, and extremely efficient at reducing stress. Also, the teaching is comprehensive and personalized.
I get a lot of questions about meditation -- how it reduces stress, why it's more restful than sleep, how it's NOT about stilling your mind -- so I host weekly Intro Talks to explain how it works, and why learning from an expert teacher is the best way to begin a regular practice.
Everyone starts by coming to an In-Person or Virtual Intro Talk. There's no cost to attend and you'll learn about why meditation is such a simple and powerful practice that fits seamlessly into your life.
History
Established in 2016.
The 1% Project, turn self care into community service. And what could be better than nourishing your community by closing your eyes and taking care of yourself?
Dating & Meditating connects people through meditation and relationship discussions like dating and money, matriarchy vs monogamy, and psychedelic love. Our guest speakers are entrepreneurs, vegan chefs, dating coaches, and Feng Shui masters. Friendships, romances, and community grow out of our gatherings, and existing relationships are strengthened.
I'm a Beatles scholar whose Meditation Meets the Beatles presentation is a sonic and narrative journey about how The Beatles were the cutting edge of consciousness in the 20th century. I also host regular Silent Disco concerts where we meditate, then boogie on the beach. Beatles Beach Bud, and Vote for Aretha - a get out the vote fundraiser - were a blast last year, and David Bowie vs Prince, and Girl Power - aka: Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Madonna - are cued up for this season.
Meet the Business Owner: Andrew B.
I'm from Boston, and first moved to LA to go to film school. I learned some meditation there, but wasn't consistent. After grad school I worked as an actor and producer in theater, then moved to New York to teach yoga, which turned out to be more of a grind than producing plays.
I began meditating again -- not quite doing it correctly -- but found a new stillness in social interactions. Soon I stumbled into a meditation talk held by Thom Knoles -- who it turns out was a famous meditation teacher -- and thought, This guy knows something.
I took his course and was hooked. I had suffered from insomnia, but started sleeping better, my anxiety lessened, and I found my life on a steady upward curve.
Meditation became my axis, and I decided to become a teacher. In 2016 I took Thom's 3-month training in India, where I learned how to select mantras, facilitate stress release, and teach this easy, systematic way.
