Wonderful restaurant. Wonderful people. One of the best meals we have had in a long time, served with care by the family that owns and cooks. read more

My partner found this gem of a restaurant online. Situated in a back street in Looe we found this…read morelisted building. It is worth visiting their website to read about its history. We were there for the food even though my partner hadn't realised that it was the Euro semis and England were playing. A wonderful menu which made our choices so difficult. Starters we chose were wonderfully light whitebait and crab cakes with a chilli jam. Do what we did, eat half and then swap plates. Gives you the flavour of both. For our main dish we both chose pan-fried shellfish medley of scallops, king prawns, mussels, clams and garlic. Wow, that was so delicious. I requested the recipe of the jus and the answer was just garlic butter and parsley. There was a mysterious addition which was kept secret. A problem with a restaurant like this is that, as you are eating, food comes out of the kitchen and all the time we think 'wish I had chosen that'. I have decided that we need another trip, soon, down to Looe and then I can try the rest of the menu. I mentioned the Euros semi. Well, the front of the house manager, the owner I believe, kept everyone that requested it an update every few minutes. Thank you. See you on our next trip down the West Country.

Three of us had dinner here. They were supposed to be open at 5:30 but we were told to come back…read moreat 5:45 and it was worth the wait. In addition to the regular menu they had a number of seafood specials. I had the scallops in a cream ginger sauce that was wonderful. One in our party had fettuccini Alfredo and loved it and another had a special with shrimp and lobster and loved it. For dessert we had a special, vitro starter and ice cream, all of which were quite good. Service was very good. The place is small so good idea to have a reservation. It is well worth visiting with a lot of great choices in addition to the specials. We were glad we went. The one thing to be aware of is that they only take cash or check and no cards.

The sauce on our fresh Turbot was just not needed , or at least too heavy. The whole SeaBass was quite nice however. On the whole I would recommend it.

This is an amazing little pub. The bar area is cluttered with nick-nacks including ships in (and…read moreout of) bottles, and an eclectic array of ornaments of a largely eccentric nature! There is even a knitting corner. The snug is covered in graffiti and in another area there is a collection of toys. Dogs and children are welcome. The food is good my ham sandwich was top notch and Judi's prawn sandwich was reported as 'excellent'. There is a separate evening menu that has a limited choice, which suggests that the quality is likely to be good. Don't expect haute cuisine but do expect good pub food, entertaining and welcoming locals, friendly bar staff and a fascinating mooch around the various bits of 'stuff' around the pub. DON'T expect to pay by card! Take cash!

Live music was excellent, and it definitely filled the place, making it actually a bit too hot for my comfort, but that's how the English do it. Seating outdoors as well for the smokers. Small bar food menu, but also an upper restaurant part as well with full menu of your usual British food. So glad we stumbled upon this place, somewhat hidden from the main road, and will always be a place we visit when in town.
