I guess it's fully within their rights, but it left a bad taste in my mouth, particularly given 1) I was one of only two people who had actually showed up for the class and 2) I would have returned to the class if they didn't have a policy of locking their doors and not allowing re-entry. There are so many yoga studios with great vibes in Ann Arbor that I honestly just don't see it being very likely that I return. The space looked nice though.

If you think you can't get into aerial arts because you're not flexible, you're not terribly…read morestrong, you have no dance or gymnastics training, or (my favorite) you're too old...read on. I am 50 years old, overweight, and about as flexible as a broomstick. I have had ZERO dance or gymnastics training in my life. I've never done the splits or even a pullup. My upper body strength is lacking. And sometimes I lack confidence in myself. In just a mere 3 months of Lyra classes, Aerial Dragonfly had me performing a wide variety of moves, poses, and flows in the Lyra, and they helped me develop so much conviction in my abilities, my body type, and my age. I became stronger and much more confident, and with the encouragement of my instructors and new friends, I participated in their spring Student Showcase. I was literally performing in front of a large, supportive crowd after THREE MONTHS of learning and practicing at the Aerial Dragonfly. It was amazing! I've *never* been in a community that was so instantly supportive, fun, encouraging, and gentle. I've spent time with 4-5 instructors and learned something new every time. I've made so many friends and I look forward to seeing them every week. We really support each other and enjoy each other...from all walks of life. You have nothing to lose. You can sign up for one class at a time. You'll be amazed at what you can accomplish, and the incredible community you can become part of. Your age, your experience, your body type-none of these things will hold you back if you just give them a try. You CAN fly!

She is one of the owners and she's amazing! Such a patient and kind teacher. I felt instantly welcomed in the space. Such a spacious and beautiful studio! There is a parking lot too. This studio offers a variety of modalities, including aerial hammock, aerial yoga, pole dancing, Lyra, trapeze, aerial silks and more. I plan on trying everything! Plenty of mats and things to stay safe. It's easy to book classes online through their website, and they offer packages too. These are private lessons, and the prices are very reasonable. The concert ran close to two hours with a 15-minute intermission, and every moment was packed with talent and precision. The venue itself--Hill Auditorium--is absolutely magical. It's beautifully maintained, with acoustics that make every note feel immersive. Street parking was manageable, and the location is easy to access. What stood out most was the sheer artistry on display. From the world premiere of a contemporary overture to the grandeur of Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, the performance was both intellectually rich and emotionally stirring. It's inspiring to see such high-level musicianship in an academic setting. They host monthly events, so if you're even slightly curious about orchestral music or just want a unique cultural experience, this is a gem worth revisiting.

Famous for hosting the best artists, including Segovia, and its annual performances of Handel's Messiah. As a kid I always enjoyed the auditorium with its older style interior and impressive organ pipes lining the backstage. Sure, the original seating leaves a lot to be desired (too narrow, cramped), but it's really about the performance here, especially spectacle and sound. Over the years I attended many renditions of Handel's Messiah, seen numerous shuffling of soloists, such as a boy soprano when I was in middle school, various altos, contraltos, and more recently, a contra tenor. The audience participates during the Hallalujah Chorus, but at some point over the years, free sheet music stopped being handed out. I came to prefer the Sunday afternoon performances. Sometimes the Saturday night opener shows had nerves on display and even faster tempos than the usual time signatures suggest. This recent reacquiantance after years away from Ann Arbor really impressed me. The outstanding musicianship, the conductor, the soloists, and a renewed inspiration for the Baroque orchestrations. Truthfully, I was imagining lifting some of those really fast strings lines and writing melodic heavy meal tunes. Postmodernism at its best.
