If you press on REVIEWS NOT RECOMMENDED at the bottom of the review section, you will see so many great reviews. Why the bad reviews are the only ones being publicized is ridiculous! My son has been going to Huntington for many years, from grade school until present. He is now preparing for ACT/SAT. Melissa, the owner, is down to earth, honest, passionate, and by all means, she completely cares about the students in the program. Yes, it is expensive, but our experience is overwhelmingly positive. Our personal experiences: * My son always comes home feeling more confident and really does like attending. * He has never once complained about any of the teachers, although he has his favorites! * The staff is always available to answer any questions or address concerns. * Once in High School, I insisted that my son schedule his own study sessions, to teach him responsibility and autonomy. I imagine it was a bit of a headache for the staff at first, but they never once complained and supported my philosophy. * Over the years, my son's organization, attitude and study skills improved to the point that he now uses Huntington 'as needed' when he finds himself struggling in a class. He also attends weekly for college prep study. *The staff will even meet with your child's teachers to make sure that all those involved are working together for a common plan. There are many other positives, but I think my above testimony is enough to express my views. When a parent sees their child struggle, it can be painful. We worry about their self confidence, their feelings of self worth, their future etc. Huntington not only addresses the student's issues but the parent's concerns as well! With the exception of a rather befuddled and out-to-lunch XML instructor, every course was taught by an experienced, professional instructor with lots of workplace experience in the subject he was teaching. A polished office staff makes sure students are informed well in advance of upcoming classes in their field. The office is kept neat and clean, and the classroom computers are totally free of the technical glitches you find at other learning establishments. Machines are prepared by the instructor prior to the arrival of the students on the first day, so no time is wasted creating virtual machines and installing prereq software. AmeriTeach offers official vendor curriculum from Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, etc. etc., which is designed to give you the knowledge necessary to pass certification exams from those vendors. Other local tech schools, LeaderQuest in particular, offer courses written by who knows who that do not have that focus. If you're seeking a place to get a good, solid IT education from professional, informed instructors, choose AmeriTeach. Stay as far away from LeaderQuest as you can. When we began homeschooling my younger two boys (3rd grade and 5 grade) both need tutoring for Reading. My 5th grader was diagnosed with dyslexia and I was lost in how to help him with his reading. I was so grateful when we reconnected with Beth. I have seen immense growth in my boys reading levels since working with Beth. My older of the two despised reading. Today he reads on his own non stop. Beth helped create a new love for reading by helping Liam build his confidence, grow his reading ability and understanding, as well, help Liam to find a genre he loves. My daughter has always had a love of playing different characters, and had performed in a few small…read moreplays before she started training with Colorado School of Acting when she was 12. As a student of their certificate program her skills have grown by leaps and bounds over the last two years. The program is fun but also serious about giving students the skills to be successful. She has studied from some of the same books that are assigned to college acting students. Teachers know their stuff and are good at creating an environment that is safe and supportive but also pushes students to stretch into their capabilities. The school has also been amazing at helping us find opportunities and avoid pitfalls as she's become active in the local film community. It's great that they have different options to meet different needs. For my daughter the certificate program has been ideal, and has allowed her to also attend the workshops that are a good fit for someone who wants to work on skills without committing to more of a "career" type track. They also have camps, which we can't speak to since we haven't done one, and they have a group taking a trip to LA soon. She is passionate about acting and would like to pursue this as a career path. Her training at CSA has truly given her the acting skills and professionalism that have helped her to already have a solid resume and an excellent start on her journey as a professional actor.
