They routinely forgot to feed him or fed him with food in closed containers without silverware or food cut so he could eat it. He went over one month without an attempt at a shower, teeth brushed, bed changed and his room cleaned. There was regularly feces and vomit on his walls and floor. He was forced to use a towel when toileting as they did not keep his bathroom stocked with toilet paper. Despite significant feedback to every staff that would listen these significant concerns remained. Maple Ridge robbed my father of his dignity. Do not send a loved one to this terrible place. The head nurse, Heather Lambert informed me she "shoves" his medical record into a drawer with everyone else's and never looks at them. The documentation showed significant neglect and showed he did not receive basic care.

However, I am moving my mom out in a few weeks to another facility. The corporate entity that governs The Residence and is building more units through out New England is, sadly, very unresponsive and is more concerned with the bottom line than resident care. A case in point: they offered a program that would help residents with pet care and transportation. They advertised this program and it was one of the main reasons we chose the Residence at Otter Creek. They, then discontinued it with only 30 days notice and basically left us all to figure out what to do next. There was an effort to out source the program to an existing program but it is not the same and requires lead time for transport etc. Hence residents are now in the process of taking limos to doctor appointments . I scrambled to find alternatives and happily was able to tide things over until I could make other arrangements. If this was the first time that Corporate had discontinued or reneged on services that would be one thing but it isn't. The changes just keep on coming including changing the time the front door is open - a money saving opportunity for Corporate and an inconvenience for everyone who lives there. When I reached out to corporate , I got a perfunctory "canned response" that was unsatisfactory. I would not recommend this organization especially in Middlebury where there are other more responsive options such as East View.

Eli from the office called me right back and I explained what I needed and asked for help. He was right on it and got back to me within a couple of hours and had a room for my Mom within 2 days. I was not sure what I was going to need and he told me not to worry that someone would call me to let me know and go over everything. I got a call from Jen MacDougal who told me she would walk me through the process and she sure did! We met with her the next day and went over everything. She clearly let us know what we should expect from showing us the room, the building and most important all the people who were working. She made it clear to ask ANY questions we had and she answered all of them. She is so professional and down to earth. I also got to meet Alyssa Frazier who works with Jen and make great team mates. They helped us with all our requests. We meet with Jen for several hours including going over all the medicine, Moms doctors and all her appointments. They do EVERYTHING so you do NOTHING but take care of your loved one. I don't know how to thank them enough. When they say that it starts from the top of the organization and works down, they are 100% right. The staff there is nothing short of AWESOME! Now that Mom has been there for a while, we still feel the same way and just LOVE the place. They have so many activities going on and make sure they offer things were everyone can be included. If you are thinking about having a loved one needing a place to stay don't think again, sign them up and know you are doing the right thing and you do not need to worry about a thing. The building is an old red brick school house converted into a warm, upbeat, well appointed home. This service provided care for an elderly relative for a number of months. TLC was hired to assist…read morewith day to day care including not only companionship but also assistance with the tasks of day to day living including personal hygiene, medications, reminders etc. During that time, my loved one experienced a number of infections that were due to poor hygienic practices and the failure of caregivers to recognize the signs of infection. This resulted in hospitalizations and follow up medical care. While a few of the caregivers were kind and well intentioned, the care provided was lacking in terms of what was needed. Similarly there were numerous problems with scheduling, billing and the front office staff in terms of answering questions or general assistance. I would not recommend this provider.
