Came in for pre valentines dinner on the 13th after having this place recommended to me by a few friends. Food is fine, I got the chicken schnitzel and my husband the tavern burger. The sauce and chicken were pretty bland and after seeing some reviews with photos I don't think I got the full dish. Chicken & potatoes, yes but like a drizzle of butter sauce so that's pretty disappointing. My husband loved the burger. Our server was good and the setting in the restaurant is cool. Though the temperature outside was frigid, the vibe inside was warm and welcoming. I was with a group of 9 who came in on almost the coldest day of the cold snap. We were there for beverages because Arvada Tavern does them well. They had something for everyone even some NA options for the little one in our party. I enjoyed a glass of Prosecco as I am not much of a cocktail person. The rest of the table raved about their beverages. The bar staff does an amazing job at presentation. We met some friends for dinner with plans for drinks in the upstairs Speak Easy. When we got there we learned that a lot of the activities the tavern used to do upstairs, like Tiki Tuesday are no longer happening. The upstairs is now used for live music on Saturday nights. To get to the upstairs you make an immediate right when entering the place and walk through the phone booth in the corner to access the up stairs. The downstairs is a dark and cozy restaurant and bar so it was fine for meeting with our friends. I had the roast beef sandwich, my friend had a prime rib and both wives had the salmon. Food: 2 out of 5 I ordered a variety of items. The crispy shrimp appetizer was great! The jumbo shrimps were cooked well & lightly breaded. The shrimp came with a light aioli, sriracha sauce, & garnished with scallions. Nicely executed shrimp appetizer! I also ordered the green chili pretzel as it's a popular item. You can't go wrong with bread & cheese with a twist. I would recommend adding more of the green chili to highlight more of the roasted pepper; otherwise a safe appetizer to share. The salmon entree & tavern cottage pie were unfortunately quite disappointing. Long story short the walnut crusted salmon appeared delicious on the menu, but poorly executed. The texture of the salmon in the center was mushy. Additionally the sauce, which accompanied the dish was unremarkable. The tavern cottage pie is the restaurant's take on Shepherd's pie. The texture of the potatoes was whipped nicely; however, once I delved into the center it was a salt bomb. Trust me I tried to power through with a few more bites to give the dish a chance. I literally couldn't taste any herbs or the richness of the butter as the salt was so overpowering. Service: 5 out of 5 If I could I would give the hostess & my server a 10 out 10. They were super welcoming and really cared about their customer's opinion. Environment: 5 out 5 Dimly lit restaurant & great vibes. Large liquor selection for folks choosing to partake. Overall: 2.75 out of 5 I came into Arvada from out of town for a business trip and was drawn to this place based on the high Yelp reviews. I really wanted to enjoy the food, but was disappointed. Everything I tried were recommendations from the restaurant staff and Yelp. Stick to the appetizers if you're here for food. The entrees were lackluster. Not entirely sure if it was a one off night for the kitchen, but entrees need a new direction. Disappointing Experience I don't usually write reviews, but my recent visit to Arvada Tavern left me with no choice. From the moment we walked in, the service was dismissive and unprofessional. We were "greeted" by two staff members more concerned with cleaning glass than acknowledging paying customers. Not once during our visit did they check in, offer help, or show any semblance of courtesy. It took far too long to place our orders, and when we finally did, the attitude was cold and unwelcoming. To the point of getting the bill felt like we were inconveniencing them. A bar or restaurant is only as good as its staff, and unfortunately, this place failed that test miserably. We came here as a group and it was very good. Service was slow, we waited to order, 10-15 minutes for drink reorders and 15 minutes for the check. We did watch the bartenders while we waited and they were making amazing drinks. Green Chili Pretzel - very good with a great cheese sauce. French Dip - the ribeye was medium rare and so good, don't miss. It was on rosemary bread. The fries were good too. Cobb Salad - very good. The Mai Tai was the only thing we didn't like. We haven't been in several years but came for an anniversary celebration. WOW! Has this place changed from the way I remember it. We came on Friday afternoon around opening and this place was dead. Customer service was pretty nonexistent as the bar tenders as well as the manager preferred talking to each other more than they did interacting with the guests. PLEASE, take a look at this strange bill I have attached. I ordered two rum & Cokes and was scratching my head with the entire nickel and diming process. $2.00 for a can of Coke? $1 for ice? Oh sorry, it was special ice. The BIG cube. I was surprised we weren't charged a price for sitting on the bar stool. My wife ordered the apple spritzer which she did not like. It was fun to read the history of the Arvada Tavern and nice to see that they are trying to keep the interior decor similar to that of its 1940s remodel - including a cigarette machine next to the original glass block entryway. (The only thing that made it feel like we were back in 2023 were the man buns sported by the male bartenders.) Their classic cocktail menu had drinks listed by name, year developed, and ingredients. Recently moved to Arvada and wanted to check out Sippin' Santa! We decided to get dinner first at the Arvada Tavern, and it was great! We got the seasonal crostinis, which were amazing, and I got the seasonal salad with salmon - also great! My boyfriend got the French Dip special and he loved it. Truffle fries were 10/10. Drinks were great and our server was amazing! Only thing not great was the crème brûlée, but they didn't end up charging us for it, which I appreciated but didn't at all expect. Sippin Santa was awesome, I love the speakeasy feel. Service was awesome, drinks were great and the vibe was so cool! Happy I found this spot and will definitely be back. We stopped in at the Arvada Tavern on a Sunday evening for drinks and apps and I honestly wasn't expecting this place to be a perfect 5 star. What an amazing find! The cocktails are absolutely fantastic, we had the potatoe and cheese perogis with their homemade sour cream sauce which was absolutely excellent. Next up sharing the artichoke dip which was incredible. As someone who usually ales this from scratch- it was a winner. The drinks are absolutely fantastic and if you're looking to relax with a drink and take in a Sunday evening to melt away the Monday stress look no further. This used to be my favorite restaurant in Olde Town but sadly, they've been reducing their menu, removing some of the most popular food dishes, and replacing them with poor quality substitutes. Every single item that my friends and family came to love are now gone or revised. The artichoke dip has been replaced with pimento cheese. The chicken schnitzel (my favorite dish) which used to include mashed potatoes, red cabbage, and a delicious lemon sauce, has now been replaced with a piece of breaded chicken with green cabbage thrown on top. The prime rib dip sandwich is gone. It's really too bad because the ambience of this place is immaculate. But the new menu is a huge miss and is extremely underwhelming, and sadly I don't think we'll come back here for dinner. read more

WHAT A SPOT!!! When you think of a tavern in Colorado, this is it. From the dim lit room, to the comfortable big booths, to the amazing craft cocktails this is the spot. We had a great dinner on Wednesday with the delicious walnut coated Salmon, artichoke dip app, country pie and steak. All were cooked perfectly and were absolutely delicious. If Old Fashions are your thing, then you'll be pleased to find out there is about 5 different options of them here. The server smokes them out right in front of you at the table! Very cool look. The best part: the pricing!! You're not getting hosed on the food or dinks. Really a delightful spot with a very homie feel. I have visited Arvada a few times but this was the worst. I had a large group visiting from out of town and we were greeted with rudeness the second we walked in the door. We were there for only a drink and it was after the dinner rush so the restaurant was virtually empty. The bartenders served a few of us but then informed my group that we would not longer be served because "they received a call from a different local Arvada bar saying we were too rowdy". A complete lie as we had come from a nice dinner in golden. Not one person was drunk or rowdy but the staff decided they just wanted to stop working for the night. First things first... Thank you, yelp, for helping finding this gem! This place was established in 1933, and has a really wonderful ambience and vibe. Outstanding cocktails, I mean really really good. Three of us enjoyed the chicken schnitzel, steak salad, and salmon in posole sauce. Three happy diners, three smiling faces, three clean plates. For dessert, we shared the banana pudding and some housemaid donuts. Get the donuts. Repeat: get the donuts. The banana pudding was good, but would have been better with some sliced bananas included. Our server was charming, knowledgeable, and professional. This is our first time in Arvada, but now it's looking like we will be back once a year for the Jazz Guitar festival. There is an outdoor dining area but we chose to eat inside due to the inclement weather. The menu is eclectic and features a curated selection of craft cocktails, local beers, and a variety of appetizers and entrees that would be suitable for a gastropub. I wish I had tried the bone marrow French onion soup, but opted instead for the pink pickled deviled eggs. These are brightly colored with a deep and satisfying flavor. Dinner included the pork belly burnt ends glazed maple bourbon sauce and a chicken schnitzel. The pork belly is a great choice if you love rich barbecue meats. The schnitzel was perfectly cooked and nestled on a bed of garlic mashed potatoes. Service was excellent (lots of man-buns in evidence) and friendly. Great place for a casual dinner. Arvada Tavern may be the oldest eating establishment in town. Its always good. Had friends visiting who wanted to explore Arvada and this was the dinner choice. The grilled salmon with pozole was delicious. Service was exceptional. Good, reasonably priced wine list and a nice cocktail selection. Overall the food selection is not long nor is it creative --Arvada serves standard bar fare (burgers, sandwiches a few chicken and steak entrees). Everything was tasty - so what they do they do well. Greeted and sat near the bar. Samantha quickly gets our water and bottle of water. We ordered 2 appetizers, which arrived in 12 minutes. The best Rocky mountain oysters I've ever had. Crispy, meaty, tender, with incredible flavor. I've never had anything like it. 21 minutes later, we got our entrees. Babeza (beef cheek) melt with peppers and onions. I've only ever been for Tiki Tuesdays, but man do I love The Arvada Tavern. Warm and inviting on the interior and unassuming on exterior. The drink menu on Tiki Tuesdays covers all the classics and then a few with twists. They also sell the glasses they use to serve many of their drinks - I ended up walking away with one recently because the design was so delightful to me. They are not shy on making the drinks large and strong. The food menu is also great - last time I was in I ordered the teriyaki chicken which came over rice and really hit the spot. It's pub food - so don't go expecting posh restaurant food - but it's pub food executed really well. read more

This place is alright in my opinion. It should be noted that I didn't order any food and that I just went for drinks. My friends got food and it seemed to be average-nothing special about it, which is normal for bar/tavern food. The drinks are also alright, nothing too special about them. There was a mocktail section though, which I really respect places for having and offering on the menu itself. Service felt-awkward? At times felt like being a burden by not ordering more food or drinks, but maybe I'm overthinking it. Favorite part would have to be the ambiance of the place as I'm a sucker for some good/dim/dark mood lighting.
