Portion sizes are deceptively large so you'll have to be mindful when you order as the puddings are worth leaving room for. Being an expert on these things, I'd heartily recommend the chocolate and guinness cake over the chocolate fudge cake much richer and gooier without the sickly sweetness. They had a recent renovation, which made the interior look a lot lot better than what I remember and it looks like somewhere you'd choose to spend a whole evening in. I was told that they launched a good food menu, as they now have a nice kitchen, but sadly didn't get a chance to try while I was in. It's just a cosy, friendly local pub and I can honestly say if I still lived in the area, I'd be back from time to time for a swift pint.

Steak Night (Tuesday) is a popular time to visit, as is Curry Night (Thursday). If you like hot curries, try the vindaloo (it's intense!). If your expecting gourmet food, you'll be disappointed. It's good, hearty grub at a reasonable price, with very friendly staff and cozy surroundings (including sofas by a warm fire). Why not give it a go? Mostly filled with locals and the hard-faced oldie stood outside smoking but the interior is that of the traditional cramped pub from that era.
