These guys are total pros. They arrived early and got right to work. We needed to have 11 pieces in total assembled - 10 bookcases and a sideboard - and they had the whole job done in under four hours. The apartment is small and full of boxes, and they were terrific about working within the limited space and took special care around all the stuff that was sitting around waiting to go into the new furniture. They took plenty of time to make sure that all the doors were hung properly, the drawers open and close well, etc. - all the fiddly little things that make a big difference with Ikea furniture. Making the arrangements in advance can seem a little cryptic - basically, you just e-mail them what you have to be put together, as exactly as possible (down to Ikea item numbers if you have them), ask for a time, and they send you a one-liner confirmation. It's not too formal, but it works. For the quality of the work, the price was very reasonable - and a lot less than had we gone with Ikea's in-house assemblers. As previous reviewers have noted, they don't take away the boxes and other debris, but they did leave it all very organized, making it relatively simple to deal with after they left. Great if you like shady business practices. Not so good if you value your time or money. I made an appointment to have my Ikea bed repaired, paid in advance, and got an appointment confirmation saying that the tech would arrive at 11am (within a 1-hour window). I moved around work plans to accommodate the appointment, and when the tech didn't arrive by 12:15, I emailed to check in. Soon after, I got a call saying "the technician was supposed to check his schedule, but I guess he didn't." They offered to reschedule, but I didn't want to lose any more time to this (nor did I want to do business with a business that operates this way -- they didn't even call me to let me know, I had to email them myself!) so I asked for a refund. I later emailed to follow up, and was told that my refund would be processed that day. Fast forward a week (and another ignored email), and I got a call today telling me that they'd issue a refund, minus $50 because I (!?!?!?!?) cancelled the appointment (which is funny, as I didn't realize that their employee not checking their schedule and never showing up would mean that I'm at fault). They wanted to charge me $50 FOR A SERVICE I NEVER RECEIVED. Filed a chargeback with AmEx as I don't want to spend any more time or energy dealing with this, but wanted to warn folks who are considering doing business with them: be careful. read more

As we all know, massive savings can be accomplished by eliminating the overhead costs associated with brick & mortar stores by ordering on-line and the variety is much better. The only problem with ordering on-line is the assembly, some of the items can be very cumbersome and complicated to assemble. But Furniture Assemble Experts eliminates this factor. They are very professional with lots of experience in this area. They assembled a 4-piece ensemble for me in a little over an hour. No left over pieces, like I normally have, and the rates were very reasonable. Furthermore, they don't require cash like most other companies, so you can earn points for their service when you use their credit card reader. I was looking to remove the boxes as they took the furniture out and they advised me to leave them so they won't scratch the hardwood floors, which I never thought about. We will certainly use them again in the future. Good service and demand should only increase as more and more "brick/mortar" stores go out of business. read more

Amazing. Bought a FJELL bed from Ikea that was a little too advanced for me to put together, especially during the hectic period of moving to a brand new apartment. Sent FAE an email on Sunday night and received prompt service the next day. NOT TO MENTION, when our box from Ikea didn't have some of the components, they offered to come the next morning to build the bed after we got the part. They set up the bed in no time and were amazing and friendly throughout the entire process. I will definitely use them in the future and will be recommending them to all my friends! read more

Having no knowledge of them, I must admit I was a bit apprehensive about choosing FurnitureAssemblyExperts.com to assemble a TV stand and Flat Screen TV I'd recently purchased. As I perused their website, I was a little dismayed by a few typos I'd noticed (e.g. We 'assembly' instead of We assemble), and that the 'Reviews' link on their website wasn't functioning (Page not found). I 'googled' the company and got a few hits back. From what I read people seemed satisfied with their work, so after discussing it with a friend I decided to go for it. I am so glad that I did! The first thing that impressed me was the speedy response to my initial email inquiry (late on a Friday evening). The second thing was that they could do the job the next day. Last, but not least, was the reasonable price I was quoted. AWESOME! The tech arrived in a timely manner, was totally professional, and quite personable. He did an outstanding job! Do NOT use this company. I had a bed, desk, coffee table, desk chair, couch, and TV stand made (all from IKEA). They sent two men who finished the project in 5 hours (very timely). But when they were done: 1. There were over 30 pieces leftover that they claimed were "extra pieces." These were NOT extra pieces. They didn't lock in the slats for my bed (so it was unstable) - I did it myself. They didn't lock in the headboard for the bed (it was shaking back and forth). They didn't lock in the desk together (it's currently wobbly and the top is not secured to the bottom with the pieces provided by IKEA). 2. Several pieces of furniture have several scratches and dents from their not being careful. 3. When I called them to ask them to fix the furniture and account for so many "extra" pieces, they wouldn't connect me with a manager (it's been a week) and they are sending someone over to "inspect the furniture." I e-mailed them again to speak with a manager - never got an e-mail or a phone call back from anyone at all. I would like to say that Furniture Assembly Experts, completed the Job, However it was not a Job Well Done. 1a. Pro: The Expert they sent was timely. 1b. CON: They only sent ONE PERSON, to set up TWO Full Bedroom Sets, and TV Stand (The Expert did not set the TV on the Stand, and told us that the Cable Company was paid to do this...THEY DO NOT) 2a. Pro: The Stand and Bedroom Sets were completed 2b. CON: The Technician was rushing to finish, and Did not completely Screw in a Drawer to the Bedroom Set!! (The Screws are missing, so I have no way to complete it myself, which I should not have to) My advice to anyone who has lots of furniture to assemble, Please MAKE SURE you schedule for a EARLY Time.. I rarely write reviews, but what a truly excellent service. Filled out the online form with furniture model #s and other details and they quoted me via email within 30 minutes. I filled out the form at 9am, and they confirmed coming over at 3:30pm the same day. Arrived early, very professional and paid great attention to detail. Not a spare part left over when they were done. Ok, maybe one little washer. ;) My hardwood floors were recently sanded/refinished and they took the care to keep them that way. I had about 17 items from IKEA that needed to be assembled, ranging from simple side tables to tall bookshelves, TV stand, dresser, and dining table w/ 4 chairs. It took them about 2.5 hours to do so! Took me nearly twice as long to get in and out of that darn IKEA just to choose and buy the stuff! ;) This is not an inexpensive service (their fee was about 14% of what I paid for the furniture/delivery). But my time is money, and it would have probably taken me a good 2-3 days to do what they did in 2.5 hours. Plus no splinters and/or other mishaps dealing with assembling and moving around the very large items. But, from what others have commented here, I understand they charge less than IKEA's service does. In the end, you save a lot of money buying unassembled items from IKEA/etc., so I still came out ahead. Note: they do NOT take away the boxes and packing materials, as has been mentioned in other reviews, but they put most of this stuff out of the way. They should consider adding this service. Last week I gave this company 1 star for the reasons listed below. They have totally redeemed themselves! They called to apologize and arranged a time to put the furniture together for free. They showed up on time and did an excellent job! Communication with this company is impossible. They do not respond to voicemails. I received 4 emails over 3 days telling me they could assemble my furniture on Sat at 5pm. I responded "yes" to each email. Sat at 4:05 pm they emailed me telling me I responded too late. We rescheduled for Sun. Sat evening at 7:49 pm I received an email saying my appointment was confirmed for Sun at 9:30 am. Sun morning I received another email confirming the 9:30 appointment. It's now 10:30 on Sun and they have not shown up or called. I have rearranged my schedule twice now. Frustrating!! I could have put the furniture together myself by now. read more

Pros: My furniture assembly expert arrived right on time, and did a great job putting together my furniture item very quickly. They put a lot of effort getting it to look just right, and took time to explain to me what the leftover parts were for. Cons: Like one of the reviewers below, I wish they had disposed of the empty boxes so I didn't have to. (I'm lazy.) Also, email was the best way to contact the company, so don't bother calling -- just fill out the online form first. Just don't. They were very proactive about setting up the appointment, which was done easily over email, and I emailed the night before to confirm. Ultimately, though, I ended up killing 3 hours of my labor day weekend waiting for no one to show. No call, no explanation, and no one picked up at the "open" office after a few tries. Anthony Pleasant!!!! This man.........I have never written a yelp review but his performance has inspired me to! I bought a bed, dresser, and nightstand from Sears and one look at the dresser brought me to google searching for furniture assembly companies. I ultimately chose FAE because they were the least expensive. I was able to make an appointment for the following day. Anthony was on time, incredibly sweet, and clearly an expert at putting furniture together. He completed all 3 pieces by himself in about 2 1/2 hours. Everything was perfect - no leftover pieces. Besides being a consummate professional and a great guy (definitely engage him in conversation), my 10 month old son loved him :) I just can't say enough. read more

I emailed this company through their website, which promises, "We will get back to you by email within 30 minutes or less." That was 2 days ago, and I never got any response. Yesterday, I called them during their usual business hours and got an answering machine, where I left multiple messages and 2 different ways to contact me. Nada. That's fine, if they're not interested in my business, I'll take it elsewhere. But it looks like I'm not the only one who has had trouble contacting them. First, they called to cancel their first appointment with me because they forgot. Upon rescheduling, they did not show up at the scheduled time. They were 30 minutes late. No explanations, no excuses, simply 30 minutes late for their scheduled appointment. Then, they quickly fixed my bed, and I suppose they did a good job. But they decided to give me a freebie (which I had to ask for since they were the ones who were late) by putting together my chairs. Of course, they ended up BREAKING one of my chairs. The person drilled in the wrong nail for the chair and ripped off some of my chairs. They told me to call to get a replacement for the chairs because I didn't have the nails required, but if they had just looked, I had all of the nails there. I would be very hesitant about hiring them, and only use them as a last resort. Make sure to watch them when they come to fix up your furniture. They are impatient and heavy-handed with the drill. read more

I'm sure they do a good job once they come out, however, to even schedule an appointment is a nightmare. I tried twice. You have to schedule via email when it's a much simpler and clearer form of communication to have a phone conversation about something such as this. The first time around they picked the time they wanted to come out and I received a phone call while at work saying they were running behind. This surprised me because I never knew they were coming in the first place. The second time I asked if they were free to come on a Friday (of the same week) and once I received communication saying yes and inquiring about what time I'd like them to come, I moved mountains to get the okay from my job to work from home to make sure I was available. That Friday morning I received an email saying that not only were they booked for the day, they were also booked for the whole weekend. Of course after scrambling to get the okay from my job, I was really frazzled. Perhaps they have a high volume of emails and confuse which clients they're speaking with. I would recommend a different scheduling and confirmation system to ensure these things don't happen in the future. Maybe something as simple as, "Yes we are available on XYZ day. We have 9am or 3pm available, which works for you?" would clear up the process. I was able to get my furniture assembled by another company who came out that day and did an incredible job. When I emailed Furniture Assembly Experts saying how displeased I was, they did not even respond. read more

This company doesn't even deserve 1 star. I bought a basketball hoop for my son's birthday. I was confirmed for a time slot of 8-11 on Saturday. At 10 I had not heard from them. So I called and asked for a time estimate. They told me their guy was running behind and they wanted to change to a 2-5 time slot. I explained I could not do this due to prior engagements. The woman put me on hold and said the person would be there at 11:30. It is now 2:15. No one has called, no one answers the phone....NOTHING! Thank you for ruining my ability to do anything today. Thank you for making me have to reschedule my son's birthday dinner. And thank you for ruining my son's birthday. I don't know what all these other 5 star reviews are for....must be people that work for you, because I don't believe for a second that your company is any good at all. I bought a sofa, desk and book stand from IKEA and scheduled this company to put it together for me. They arrived on time, were very polite and nice, answered my questions etc. They had all three items assembled and put where they needed to go within an hour - it was unreal.. it would have taken me hours to put it all together. I recently bought a Homestyles solid-wood kitchen cart. Because my new apartment has almost no kitchen counter space, I was desperate to put it together as fast as I could. I tried (and failed) to build it myself on a Saturday evening. Upon my failure, I emailed Furniture Assembly Experts and got a response within minutes. Even better, they were able to send someone the very next day (a Sunday) to complete the kitchen cart, and I now have lovely work space in my kitchen where once there was none! Where can I begin? We used this company during our first corporate move and they did a great job. So we hired them again for this second corporate move. They did not finish the job the first day, although they were paid in full and tipped 20%. They told us they would show up the next day to complete the job. They told us noon, then changed it to 1-3, then changed it to they were not coming at all, then changed it to 5, then they eventually showed up with ONE person at 6:30 PM on a Friday. The one team member was here until 11 PM, and still did not finish. From there, I had to come back to the office on a Saturday at 9 and they did not finish until noon. I argued that we should receive some sort of discount after this horrible experience. I was told I would receive a 20% discount the following Monday. I never heard back from them. I called their HQ and left a message and still did not hear back. I am planning to file a complaint with the BBB. read more

They were a sponsor of an event that my job was hosting, so I decided to give them a try. I was moving from one apartment to another and really did not have a lot of items so it would be quick. Well it would have been a quick move IF they had ever showed up!! No show up No call AT ALL!!! I ended up hiring another mover whom I call at 7pm and they were there by 8pm, They ONLY correspondence that I have had with them was an email sent after midnight (after I sent two really 'nice' ones to one of the owners) saying the workers got tied up at another job. Well, it would have been really nice to get that info before I waited almost two hours for them!!! Would have been nice to receive some time of follow-up call the next morning. Didn't hold my breathe about that one either... Anyway, he offered me 'FREE' furniture assembly on my NEXT order lol. I have not decided if and when I will trust them with that one. If I do and IF they redeem themselves, I will change this review. Otherwise, I will keep it at ZERO stars!!! read more

I hired the company to build my playground. It was supposed to take 1 day. They showed up late and didn't finish. The next day they came back to finish and still did not. They left trash and cigarette butts all over my yard. The playground is crooked and has screws sticking out of it every where. They also didn't follow instructions and some how built a picnic table out of parts and the set doesn't even have a picnic table. The next day they were supposed to come finish and didn't show up, call or email. They won't respond to any of my calls or emails either. read more

Terrible. I made an appointment with these people weeks in advance for a rather small job, and received confirmation of the job. On the day of the job, I took the liberty to send them an email to inquire as to whether they were still planning to come out to my residence, and the reply was "yes." I asked if they would also do something extra fo rme for an added fee and the reply was "yes." I had a bad feeling about it, seeing that they are located in MD and I am in VA for a job under $100. I assumed they were professional, which was a huge mistake. Not only did they not show up, but I received no call and the same morning an email confirmation from them stating that they were indeed coming. I have waited weeks for this assembly and now, i have NO ONE LINED UP. Extremely unprofessional and a total lack of regard for their customers or POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS. They are no different than the rest of them..they will break their committment to you if they get a larger job or if htey don't feel like doing the job, on a whim, with no notice and no courtesy.
