My boyfriend and I were bouncing around from one side of the neighborhood to find somewhere to eat for dinner and we so happen to find this little cute spot that we always pass by but never find the urge to try because of parking. But we were walking and we decided to finally give this place a shot. The hosts were very sweet and welcoming they took us in right away. Our server greeted us with water's right away. While reviewing the menu there was so much great choices and the ambiance was so cute and settled we couldn't get enough of it. We both got a glass of pinot noir and a glass of cab, it paired well with our Gumbo with corn bread. We also ordered a bone marrow as an appetizer it was really good. Great LB brunch spot! The wait can get a little long and they don't do reservations, but if you have the time it's worth it. And there is plenty to do in the area while you wait. You can walk across the street and grab a coffee, or walk a few short blocks over to the beach/pier. The food!!! All the bread is made in house daily. So the biscuits and gravy are phenomenal. And they put an egg on them as well. I'm usually a scrambled egg guy (which they will do) but I'd recommend sunny side up for this dish. The yolk running down the gravy and biscuit really compliments the taste. Also the Mac and Cheetos are great. The max and cheese are both pretty high quality and the flaming hot Cheetos are an excellent welcomed addition. The mimosa kit was a little pricey for what it is. But I had a breakfast old fashioned that blew my mind. I had seen it online. Even though it wasn't on the menu anymore the waiter checked with the bartender and they were happy to make it. It may be my favorite cocktail ever, not just breakfast. Made with whiskey, cold brew, bitters, and served with a thick piece of bacon as the garnish. The restaurant itself is in the shell of a home and it still has that home feel, just imagine you're having a brunch party or something of that nature haha.. Now for food.. As mentioned I came here for the Clucker. Mac and Cheese stacked with Flamin' Hot Cheetos and a fried chicken drumstick. Yes.. Heart attack, Yes.. WORTH IT. I shared this with my friends and it was a great way to kick off brunch. Along The Clucker, We shared the short rib poutine. fries, short rib and saucy AF.. also Worth it. For my entree I went with the Machaca breakfast burrito. Its more of a wet fork and knife style burrito. its loaded with potatoes, braised beef, veggies and topped with a poblano lime sauce. It was a beautiful day out, but we opted to eat inside which was cool because the restaurant itself is a craftsman style house turned restaurant and if you know craftsman's, you too will appreciate the aesthetic of this restaurant. We were promptly greeted by our server (Kylie) and she greeted us with, "Welcome to our house" after hearing it was our 1st time there. Be sure to check in right away, as complimentary French Fries and a delicious chipotle honey dipping sauce will start your meal off right. I ordered the Shrimp and Grits adding cheese and a fried egg on top. After snapping my photo for yelp, I couldn't wait to dig in. The shrimp was flavored absolutely perfectly and I can honestly say it was the Best shrimp I have ever had! My wife ordered a cup of gumbo which is served in a small mason jar & 1 Reggae (Mac n cheese with hot Cheetos on top). The mac was a sight to see, but I was too into my grits to really put it to the test. We had intentions of ordering beignets for dessert, but we were so stuffed, we decided to forgo the decadent French pastry. The down to earth southern hospitality, the menu, the food and the feel of this place are what made me feel like I was smack dab in the middle of New Orleans and what earned them a deserved 5 star rating. A friend and I came here on a Friday night. I made reservations prior to the visit but when we arrived it was busy but not at the same time. If we were to come without a reservation we could have been seated right away. I would suggest reserving just in case especially if you have larger party of 6 or more. There's three areas to choose from. There's the bar area which has the music and next to it is the patio area. If you want a more conservative experience there's an indoor space too. In terms are parking they have a small parking lot at the back but if that's full there is free street parking as well. For food we ordered the Short Rib Poutine and I requested for extra cheese curbs. You'll want to make the same request if you like your poutine cheesy and drowning in gravy. I read someone's review saying she wished there were more curds and she's from Canada. Poutine is such a Canadian staple so clearly I'm going to hold her review to a higher standard and order her he extra cheese curds. We also ordered the Fillet Steak Tartare & Bone Marrow. Since the fillet steak and bone marrow take longer to prepare we received the poutine first. The poutine was the best especially with extra cheese curds which comes with extra gravy, by the way. We ate that all up!! Then came the tartare and bone marrow. Best way to eat it is to just mix the tartare into the fatty bone marrow. Spread it on the toasted bread or by the spoonful either way it is not going to disappoint! For first time tartare eaters don't be shocked if the it is raw. It's supposed to be raw. We wanted to try the orange blossom flan but they sold out of those for the day. Dessert would have been nice to end the night but we left pretty satisfied with what we got. The atmosphere was just right. We chose to sit at the patio and it was like we got the best of the bar area and inside area. We were able to hear the music from the bar but be able to talk to each other without having to speak too loud. Enjoy Attic's summer menu and vibes. The wait here is very long on a Sunday for brunch. No reservations on weekends, so come as early as possible. We waited about an hour and half but during that time we were able to get drinks, sit on the patio, and talked. I was there was a total of 5 of us and we basically tried a good amount of stuff. We were excited to try what we ordered. But our expectation did not rise to the occasion. The ok dishes were the Mac and Cheetos, and Rice in a stone bowl. You would think the rice in a stone bowl would be flavorful, but it wasn't considering all the ingredients were in there. The breakfast burrito and poutine were a hit. As for their drink selections, they have a full bar and do not offer sangria. We tried the whiskey flight which was pretty tasty. If you're a whiskey lover, try it! The service was great as our waiter was very friendly and such a character. You can tell he liked working there. The ambiance had a nice vibe to it with their dance music in the background. After exhaustively waiting, we decided just to go ahead and order our appetizers at the back. They accommodated with plates and silverware, and we dove right into the food. Although our plans did not go the way we intended, we had an excellent time being scrunched and standing. Thinking positive, it brought everyone closer together. What we ordered: MEAT MAN BLOODY MARY - This drink was a meal of its own. The name speaks for itself. Not only was the Bloody Mary strong, but it came with a small meaty slider hanging on a skewer. There was so much inside, including a celery stick and bacon strip. It was the ideal IG photo-worthy Bloody Mary. HOT CHEETOS MAC & CHEESE - For all hot Cheetos and mac & cheese lovers, this dish is a lovely reunion. It was cheesy, and the hot Cheetos sprinkles added another layer of umami. ROASTED GARLIC - This mammoth-sized garlic was so good. It complimented well with the bread. It also served with chopped olive spread. It pains me to write this because I thought this place would be amazing. After all, there's always a wait and it's always crowded. But I've come to learn that people like atmosphere and it may be a lack of options in the area. Nonetheless, we waited about an hour for a table. We were messaged at one point, about 35 minutes in, that our table was ready and was then told by the hostess that it wasn't. So we waited an additional 30 minutes. Once seated, we received decent service. The waitress did forget one of our drinks but it was busy so I don't fault her. I will say that my friends enjoyed their food (burger, waffle and Mac and cheese). But everyone, myself included, laughed at my meal. I ordered the Bayou omelette and it was a huge disappointment. It was the smallest omelette I've ever had at a restaurant. Even my accompanying fries were a little skimpy. Further, there was absolutely no flavor to the omelette whatsoever. I used salsa to spice it up but it was just not good. Sigh. The fries were actually good and I even ordered a side of fries so I could get full. Very disappointed with this place. After seeing great reviews my friend and I were excited to try their southern nights menu. We made a reservation for 530 on a Friday night and arrived about 40 minutes early. Upon arrival there was no host at the front we walked in and decided to have a few drinks and an appetizer at the high top tables in the bar area while we wait for our reservation time. The waiter asked if we had any reservations and we did let them know we had a 530 reservation for their southern nights. After about 25 minutes of enjoying our drinks and appetizer our waiter kindly told us we were able to continue our dining at the high top table since we had already ordered there and asked if we were ready to order. So we then agreed to stay seated where we were and continue dinner. The food overall was standard for their price honestly, the biscuits were delicious and drinks were great but that isn't the reason for this review. The very next day we noticed an extra charge of $50. After calling and speaking with Yano the manager he rudely told me that it was because I did not see the host and check in. He stated "can I give you advice next time see the host and check in the waiters don't have a clue about reservations". I'm thinking if they don't have a clue then why would they ask if we had one and did the waiter just trust that I said I had a reservation what's the point in making one if they don't check or why would they offer me to stay seated there. Anyway I mentioned to him how his waiter offered for us to keep our seating and that there was no host up front he did not care what I had to say. I asked for a refund as I did pay for my dinner and was there he mentioned I would receive it within 3-5 business days. After 2 weeks of not having yet received my refund I called and spoke with another manager Heather who mentioned the same thing never got my refund and then spoke with Megan from HR who said it had been processed. 1 month now and I still have not received a refund. My favorite dish was the Short Rib burrito. I'm not a big fan of breakfast burritos, but this one was so good, it changed my perspective. The short rib was full of flavor and the poblano pepper was the perfect compliment. The Attic Burger was very hearty and filling. I had the option of getting grilled onions. Last, but not least, was the Chicken and Waffles, which came with a gravy and syrup. The chicken was moist and the waffles were soft and scrumptious. First off... the good... the service was great! Thank you Heather! The good ends with Heather's kind attitude though. The food was about as bad as it could get for the money we paid! We had the Fried Green Tomatoes as an app at happy hour, which by the way were the exact same price as on the regular menu. They were under cooked and almost crunchy. Fried green tomatoes shouldn't be crunchy! They should be soft, and fork tender. Take it from this southern boy! Whomever is frying these up needs to lower the oil temp and cook them. Not flash fry them! The Mariana they made to top them was excellent though. Just too bad the tomatoes were nearly uncooked. I ordered the "Fish and Chips" which apparently included fried shrimp. I didn't read anything except the title so imagine my surprise when I bit into a shrimp. Thankfully, I'm not allergic to shellfish! They need to add the shrimp to the title of the dish. That would be my suggestion! I see fish and chips on the menu and shrimp is my last thought. It's a little misleading unless you read the details of the dish. That said, the fish was good but the breading was so wet and mushy, it ruined the dish. The shrimp was extremely fishy smelling and over battered. The "chips" were soft, oily, and salty. They were almost as soggy as the batter on the fish. No Malt Vinegar was offered. Only hot sauce and I had to ask for ketchup for my "chips". It was served with some sort of a garlicky dipping sauce that was far too salty to accompany anything! The ketchup ended being the better option! Sad! My other half had the hot Cheetos Mac and cheese and paid an additional $8.00 for a piece of fried chicken... they used to do a fried drumstick on top of the Mac and cheese which was a much better option. What he got was a breaded, boneless, skinless chicken breast, that was overly fried and served on the side. The noodles in the Mac and cheese were under cooked and the cheese sauce was almost flavorless... like a cream with a hint of cheese and zero salt... which it needed desperately! There was no salt or pepper on the tables. I ordered the ribs and I will say they were probably the best thing we had there although each rib was it own surprise! One super tender... the next so tough that you couldn't chew the meat off the rib! The drinks we had were okay. The Old Fashioned was done pretty well... one big cube of ice... a lemon instead of orange (I prefer orange) but no cherry. I ordered the Sparkling wine from California. It was a full glass pour in good stemware... but it was too sweet. The server that brought it over from the bar said it was addicting... it was not! They change up their offerings on wine every so often, I gather, but this current offering is a big miss! They once had a Sparkling Grüner that was unusual, tasty and hard to find. I'd love to see that come back! We took most of our meal to go because it just wasn't enjoyable. I really wanted to love it here again after all this time away but it was pure crap! No other way to say it! The server... again... super nice.... The food...nothing we'd EVER go back for! We both sat there completely disappointed and left hungry... after spending over $105 for the two of us. We left and went to a wine bar on 2nd street for dessert. How have I not reviewed my new favorite restaurant yet?? The way I would actually write a love letter to this place is comical but, nonetheless let me tell you some of the reasons this hidden gem is a must- All staff, meaning hosts, servers, bartenders, bussers, are always so friendly, welcoming, and simply kind. From having the patience to help me decide a dish/drink, to having small conversations about Long Beach or whatever, it just feels good to be here. Homey. Food- everything my husband and I have tried rates between an 8-15 out of 10. Aside from probably using an absurd amount of butter, this place truly creates divine meals. The best way I can describe it is that this place didn't just hire cooks, they hired chefs. People who love to cook, not just people who will cook. Ya know? *Things we've tried: -Japanese sweet potato 15/10 Easily one of the best things I've ever ate. Sweet mashed potatoes, but it's not just sweet, somehow savory too? I can't describe it, just try it and thank me. -Fried green tomatoes 9/10 Innovative. We love green tomatoes in our household and we never thought to fry them - now we want to try! Lol, only reason it's a 9 is I wonder if there's a better way to prepare it so the fried shell doesn't separate from the tomato so quickly. Maybe not, just takes a couple tries to get the fried shell pieces and tomatoes in a bite. -Country bread 10/10 SO. GOOD. Butter in every bite, in the best way. Super moist, sweet, and perfectly sized to share. -Lobster roll 8/10 Eh, to me not the most memorable but my husband liked it. -Chicken under a brick 8/10 The chicken was tender and seasoned, the portion was enough for me to have a lunch the next day, but it wasn't insane? Ya know? It's hard for chicken to be amazing so do with that what you will. It's chicken. -Filet mignon 10/10 Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, perfect piece of meat. -Chocolate cake 9/10 Riiiich, decadent chocolate, don't think candy bar/ice cream sweet, more like dark chocolate where you taste cacao. -Beignet donuts 12/10 PERFECTION. At first I was going to them 3 stars for being average, but I upped it to 4 just because of the amazing biscuits. Get the biscuits. Poutine - wonderful, delicious, would recommend. Chicken & waffles - no thank you. The waffle was almost crunchy - more fried & empty than doughy. The chicken was fine. Not the place to get chicken & waffles. Parking was difficult as it was just street parking available. The outdoor seating area had a good ambience. Bottom line is I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but if it isn't busy and you're hungry, why not! read more

The Attic is a cozy little spot in Long Beach that serves brunch. The staff were really pleasant. The food was delicious. The appetizers were some thick and tasty biscuits. I ordered the chicken and waffle breakfast. The chicken was fried perfectly. And seasoned just right. And the waffles were fluffy and soft, like I like them. I had a pineapple Mamosa to top it off. Would definitely visit again. And definitely recommend. read more

The Attic is AMAZING. Our party got the corn bread, chicken, steak, gumbo and several sides. Every bit of it was literally the best thing we've ever had. The service was so great too, Kylee is the coolest server we've had in a long time. We had two littles with us and she was so great about everything. So glad we found this place!
