I had a microphone go out in one of my hearing aids. The cost for repair was $500.00. I was told by…read morethe audiologist that they did not have the software to adjust the settings and it would be reset to the original settings at the repair facility. If my hearing levels changed they would not be able to adjust the hearing aids. Several days later I received a call stating that UPS had lost the hearing aid during shipment. They would put in a claim and they could replace the lost hearing aid with a different brand, therefore I would have two technologies for each hearing aids. I informed Wright Hearing Center that I had found a hearing aid center that could order a replacement of the same brand that was lost. All of a sudden they CAN replace with the same brand! Fine, put in a claim at UPS, order similar brand for replacement and cancel the $500.00 charge for the repair because obviously Wright Hear Center was only going to be out the administrative time for the original shipping and then submitting a claim. Well they state that they will not be crediting the $500.00 because all of the time that would be spent and I was getting a new hearing aid. The $500.00 was for a repair that never happened!! They're going to be receiving settlement from UPS for replacement costs. I phoned the credit card company and filed for a disputed charge and cancel the $500.00. I reached out to the second hearing aid center and had them order the replacement hearing aid for an out of pocket cost of $1360.00. I know it seems foolish, but I rather pay the added cost myself then ever set foot in Wright Hearing Center again. Too bad they have no integrity. If I could rate this business lower than one star I would be happy to!

The representative who answered the phone did not listen to me at all. She transferred me to another young woman who transferred me to an audiologist. I explained that I was calling to get the price of the hearing aids advertised and would they be able to use my doctors audiology report to program them. He told me that he could not sell me hearing aids because it was illegal. I explained that I had purchased hearing aids from another company previously and was not required to visit another physician. They simply used my doctors report, programmed the aids and shipped them to me. I was interested in the Ines they advertised but clearly he didn't even know what was on his website. After growing frustrated I thanked him and hung up. I have since spoken to several other companies that will gladly sell me the appropriate aids and they assured me there were no laws being broken.

Dr. Bateman removed my thyroid and apparently during surgery damaged or removed my parathyroid. I…read morewas supposed to be in the hospital over night and was there 6 days!! He then let me go home and I had to go to ambulatory care at the hospital Mon, Tue, Wed, Thurs, Fri and then to the ER on Sat and Sun for IV calcium and potassium...this went on for 6 WEEKS!!! He never once saw me again and sent his nurse practitioner in to take my stitches out. He turned it over to his wife (she's a doctor too) to set my iv doses. Well after 57 IV sticks (and me begging for a central line that he declined when called) and 6 weeks of the same mess, I went to Birmingham. Dr, Bateman promised my parathyroid was still there and would pick back up in within a few weeks...is what he said. I went to the head of endocrinology at UAB and he said there was no presence of a parathyroid!! They did scans and extensive bloodwork. So every time I get a fever or bad stomach bug I end up in the hospital and I have had many complications because it causes low calcium (hypocalcaemia). I never had blood pressure issues until this and because of the parathyroid issue it causes me to have high blood pressure, well now my kidneys are failing due to all of this. I was told I couldn't sue beacuse it was a risk associated with the thyroidectomy, even though he never pointed that out to me. Not only have I had many years now of being in and out of the hospital for this issue, I have had seziures due to low calcium, concussions from the fall due to seizure, teeth falling out, now in renal failure...thanks to Dr. Bateman. I WOULD NOT SEND EVEN SOMEONE I DISLIKE TO THIS MAN!!!
