Situated in an old Bank, hence the original title, from the outside it looks very nice. It's all been kitted out with lovely tables and chairs and the menu looks great. Hurray we thought, another upmarket eatery for dear old Bexleyheath. The first clue that not all was ideal is their menu. £20 a head??!! Now that's not exactly OTT but for Bexleyheath you'd be looking for something a little lower, especially before you start adding drinks and extra's. The second clue was in the level of service. It was clear fairly early on that although their prices said upmarket, the only thing 'market' about it was where the owners usually did their trading. Service was generally pretty poor and the quality of the food did not meet what you'd expect from the price. Having dug into things a little more after wards and asked around a few contacts we have, the impression I get is that the owners are more into this for the quick buck than for a love of fine dining. Not somewhere I would recommend. That said, if they can invest in the basics a little more it could be a lovely place to go. "Could try harder" as they used to tell you at school. read more

We went to this restaurant on Sat night to celebrate my husbands 40th birthday. After having sat down at our table 45 minutes later than booked due to them overbooking we had what I can only describe as the worst restaurant experience ever. The starters were very average, our main courses were either incorrect, undercooked or just very bland. In fairness to the waiter when we complained they offered us complimentary drinks, they even bought over a complimentary bottle of champagne, but don't be fooled by this as they stuck it on our bill - hoping we wouldn't notice perhaps!! After we had paid our bill and complained about the evening in general they had their bouncer get very aggresive and ask us to leave. One of the owners a short rather nasty man was incredibly rude to us. Having eaten a couple of days previously at the Oxo Tower and paid very similar prices I can only advise that the owners need to take a trip up there to see how a real up market restaurant cooks their food and treats their customers. Absolutely agree with the previous review. Mediocre food, way over priced, served in moderate surroundings, no more than should be expected from an average gastro pub, not at West End prices. Menu looks impressive, but poorly executed, and painfully slow service. Such vivid descriptions of dishes on the menu, make the blandness and mediocrity of the end product even more disappointing. There is nothing here to recommend, apart from the fact that the place has maintained the original Barclays bank vault. Went there last night with the family for a birthday celebration and liked the surroundings and atmosphere. The excellent singer along with the piano player gave the place a nightclub feel. The big letdown was the food, very pretentious and overpriced. For example, I ordered "Salt & Pepper Squid" for a starter expecting something special but was disappointed to be served half a dozen fried squid rings (calamari). These are a £1 a bag in any supermarket. Nice place, shame about the food so will not be going back there in a hurry! read more

I visited the Bank restaurant on a Friday night with a small group of friends for a celebration, and I would certainly never return. This restaurant tries to sell itself as a new and classy establishment in Bexleyheath; however, class is hard to come by here. The atmosphere was poor, the decor screams of Ikea, and the food and the staff were appauling in equal measures. Class is certainly not coming through! The food in general is way over priced for what you receive. The menu is very basic, and from our party's experience poorly cooked with little flavour. The vegetarian meal could only be described as slop. Aside from the food, the staff are absolutely dreadful. Understandably many of the staff are new, and relatively young, and you can forgive this to some extent. However, when you are made to wait for almost 40 minutes between courses, an hour to pay a bill, and the management do not acknowledge this, then it is hard to swallow. While we were offered a free round of drinks, this did little to make things better after an hours wait and ignorant staff.... The man who appeared to be in charge (a very short man, seemingly with short man syndrome) did not even attempt to apologise to our party for the dreadful service we had received, and was more interested in entertaining what appeared to be his friends at the bar. Funny how they managed to get served so quickly! I would suspect that the good reviews that have been written here are by people with a vested interest in the restaurant rather than genuine customers. I would not recommend this restaurant to anybody with any taste, anyone who appreciates good service, or anyone who likes to enjoy their dinner. I have honestly never experienced such rudeness from so called management level staff, and I suspect the people running this hole have no experience in this business whatsoever. To sum up, don't go to Bank!! I'd rather have a Tesco's meal deal! read more

We had lunch there today. They offer excellent value menus; the service was very attentive and the food and wine was lovely. We could have spent almost the same up the road at the Furze Wren and got a much lower quality experience altogether. Glad to see some regulars. We will certainly go again for an evening meal. For the sake of Bexleyheath I hope they become well established. read more

Went to the Bank for a Christmas Works Do. The starter and soup were okay. The meal of turkey and gammon was appalling, the meat was so overcooked you couldn't even cut it, the food was stone cold and the veg was raw. The owners had cut the mini Xmas puds in half so you got an inch thick slice which they microwaved along with the chocolate brownie, but when you overheat this type of dessert as it cools it goes rock hard - by the third or fourth spoonful the cooling process was complete and you couldn't cut it with a spoon. And at £25.00 a Head including the 10% service charge it wasn't a cheap meal. The still expected a tip, but the service wasn'r great either, sat down at 8.30 but didn't get our first course until 9.15. The Toby Carvery up the road is 50 times better for half the price. read more

I wasn't impressed with this place at all. We went here for a works meal, 10 of us. Table booked for 9pm, It was gone 10pm when we were told one of the starters was unavailable. 10.30 before we even began to eat. Only one person said he enjoyed his meal and that was the steak. We paid £10 deposit for each person and when we got our bill it wasn't deducted. I will not be going here again. read more

Visited this restaurant with my boyfriend on a Saturday night and unfortunately would not reccommend it. Whilst the outside looks very up-market with even a bouncer on the door this is all just to lure you in to a very average but over-priced restaurant. The food was very bland, my boyfriend had a chewy piece of steak and you had to pay extra for vegtables and potatoes as it came with nothing. The service was very poor, we were left waiting 15 minutes when we arrived before even having our drinks order taken and the wine was warm too. It would have been nice to have a decent new place to eat in bexleyheath but unfortunately this place is not. If you want somwhere nice to eat in Bexleyheath try Blend which is opposite, or even the local pizza express which is half the price and much better service. Sorry, but the Bank just didnt deliver. read more
