Tucked away in the tiny village of Barbon not far from Kirkby Lonsdale, this old Inn is delightful. The bar is small and cosy with a roaring fire - just the place to begin to unwind. I like to go there in the evening for a meal as it has a warm and relaxing atmosphere, and the food is great and reasonably priced. For evening meals you are shown through to the dining area - one large room with nooks and corners leading off. I actually prefer to be in the comfy window seat separate from the main dining space - it's more intimate and private.
The food is fairly traditional - a lot of meat and fish dishes, but nicely cooked and with good flavours. The puddings are worth leaving a 'corner' for and the service has always been lovely - you never feel rushed or overlooked. A pleasant, mellow evening out. read more
