Some of us had finished ours before the last were served (a difficult choice, all wait and have cold food, or start and risk finishing first). Staff were noticable by their abscence. Suddenly reappeared and starting clearing the table before everuyone had finished. Seemed to make not very subtle hints that they wanted us to go so they could tidy-up. May possibly use it again, but only as a family group, nothing larger.

We only stayed for one drink and sat at the bar, but I loved the historical feel of the interior, the selection of British ales, and the friendly bartender. They have a wood fired pizza oven, so they do a variety of pizzas, as well as a traditional Sunday roast and other elevated pub fare. I'm told they completely renovated the interior in the last year or so to reduce the drinking area and increase the restaurant dining-in area. I did not try the food while I was there, but from what I see on their instagram, it looks classy and delicious. They also do a lot of events throughout the year, including live music and a big multi-day beer festival in the summer.

I didn't enjoy the potato tower as much as I could as it wasn't very creamy and had potato skins in it - not really my scene. Along with my meal I had a delicious bottle of red. I can't remember what it was but our waitress took the time to help us out with the wine list. The price was fairly reasonable and I was happy with the service - overall this is a great place and I'd recommend to Cambridge dwellers and visitors. One thing to note: the toilets are outside and then inside another building. Do not be alarmed if a staff member directs you to the toilet and all of a sudden you're in the street!

The only comment I would have is that I asked for it medium and it came way less than medium, wasn't complaining though I was very glad they did so! The whole meal came to £30-40 each including drinks which wasn't too bad at all considering we all had steak or fish. Overall I had a great time, the staff were friendly and efficient and if I could give it 4.5 I would. It falls shy of a 5 unfortunately though.

Once you've been a couple of times, the novelty of the 1950's music wears a bit thin but you can counter that with a couple of Long Island Iced Tea's so I'll let them off. The cocktails are quite good, not really up to TGI standards (or some of the other cocktail bars in Peterborough) but they pass the Joff test. It's always someone's birthday at F&B's, so be prepared to hear the longest rendition of Happy Birthday this side of the pond. If one of your party gets irate at noisy children, you might want to steer clear but otherwise it's pretty inoffensive.
