This place was crowded with locals on a weekday so be sure to get in early. The service was prompt and friendly. And it was nice to be in small town New Zealand. The local Bloysters are large and meaty. They are not the sort that you want without some lemon. But with some fresh lemon and their mignonette they were very tasty. We then had the green lip mussels which were perfectly tender (not rubbery from overlooking. Yuck). The coconut cream was delicious. And was great with the bread. Really great. The Stewart island salmon was perfectly cooked and was so rich and delicious with a great sauce on top. The black rice underneath was great as was the tomato and fresh zucchini. It's not as big a flavor as the King Salmon from Alaska but a more delicate flavor. Overall a great place if you are down here enjoying Stewart island

Our "small plate" of pork belly salad was outstanding for the perfectly cooked meat, interesting and delicious blue cheese wontons and zesty mint pesto. My husband raced about his main of turbot on gnocchi, I wasn't as impressed with my salmon on roasted cauliflower salad main. For desert we thoroughly enjoyed the date and ginger pudding which came with divine toffee sauce, white chocolate and dried apple to balance the sweetness. We had the Thai salad with chicken, vegetable red curry and a dry seafood noodle dish, the serving sizes were amazing though as we found out typical of the area; the flavours were impactful and you could tell the ingredients were fresh. All in all we were very pleased to have stopped by here on our first night and the spices helped warm us up.

The crust was really bland and soggy. I thought it might have been because I got the gluten free crust, but my wife's pizza, who had the regular crust, wasn't any better. The good news about my pizza was that the toppings were better. I had the Mischief and got the "Ring of Fire" level of chili on it. It was good and spicy. The chicken and chorizo were both tasty too.
