Very poor, overpriced food. Chicken strips were so dry I could not swallow without water. Fries were also soggy and stale.

Allowed me to book an OpenTable reservation but the place was closed for the day for a private party. Not cool and not good management.

$18 for a plastic cup with house Cabernet. I complained then the apparent floor manager told me he didn't work there then hid in the back.

However, I have been to many fine dining restaurants that have fully understood the assignment that weren't nearly as expensive. We specifically booked this reservation for the view of the sunset, not the food, so I was not expecting it to blow my mind since I had read the reviews. Because it rained, and there is a fee per person on cancellations we ate in the covered patio which was still lovely, and the service was excellent, but nothing particularly exciting about it. We were able to walk around after since we missed our shuttle and the property there is breathtaking. The staff at the hotel and restaurant were also unbelievably kind. I did order one appetizer that was really good and that was the scallop with caviar over a pea sauce.. I feel like this is a place where you pay for the experience, not necessarily the food. Although it also may depend on what you get. My husband did not like his salad or the white asparagus, and my son didn't like his pasta either. Although to be fair my son is super picky. It did taste as though it had a sauce on it that was maybe cheese and not just butter, and the blue fish pate was super salty. I think overall my expectations were too high because of the prices despite the reviews but just because something costs more, doesn't always make it better. Extra points because the staff do go up and beyond to try to make it a special experience, so they do understand that part of the assignment at least.

The lobster entree was a little overcooked and the chocolate cake dessert was a little disappointing but overall, not bad. The kids menu had more choices than usual and the kids we brought loved the handmade pasta with marinara as well as the ice cream. We took the ferry over from White Elephant where we were staying, which can be booked with the hotel front desk or by calling the restaurant. You can order drinks on the ferry (they don't allow kids). They looked fully booked on resy but when we called, they had plenty of availability and were able to get a same day reservation for a party of 6. They also have a shuttle which takes 25 min that takes you back to white elephant every hour on the half hour (and the ferry which takes 50 min every hour on the hour). Overall, we had a great experience here!

Just a nice, artisan dish akin to something you'd get in New Bedford or Fall River. Fantastic. 5-Stars. Now their lobster roll. Imagine a hot dog, OK, and now imagine one of those little Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage links for size comparison. The volume of finely shredded lobster meat, that was also warm in that hot dog roll was smaller than the Jimmy Dean link. 0-Stars. My recommendations for a "good" lobster roll is to go anywhere else on island. I'd recommend Sayle's Seafood, The Nantucket Lobster Trap or Stubby's. In fact, I'd just stay clear of the Club Car altogether, it is one of those places for the self-focused New York / Miami new [vulgar] money jet-set that treat the island like their play-thing... you know, you see their empty beer cans in the morning around town. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

The service is always on point (Bridget always takes care of us--she's genuinely so nice), and the food never misses: the lobster Cobb salad is fresh, loaded, and perfectly balanced, and the croque madame is pure comfort (savory, cheesy, and even better with the egg). And don't sleep on dinner, Club Car turns it up even more, and their steak frites is the best!

Home fries need to be spectacular to impress me, and these were truly out of this world. I could eat them every day! I have no complaints about anything on my plate. The scrambled eggs were perfectly prepared (I asked for them well-done) and of course the home fries were the star of the show. My latte was also very good, and these mug it was served in was so cute. I tried a bite of my friend's chocolate chip waffle, which was recommended to us by a coworker who said it was the best on the island. I can't say I have tried any other waffles on the island, but this one was quite delicious and it would be difficult to top it. Even though it was busy late on Saturday morning, my party of two was seated right away. Sure, you're sitting close to the people next to you, but I do not mind. The place is well-decorated and has a pleasantly clean vibe about it. I am looking forward to trying dinner here as well in the near future!

The staff from the maitre d who has been there for ever to the bartenders and servers, all top notch and friendly. I've dined with reservations for more of the fine dining feel, but also have casually rolled up to the bar and enjoyed the more relaxed vibe, but still great food. Again, Nantucket is expensive, but I find that the meal, service and ambiance warrants the price for a fun and memorable night out. Enjoy the walk back into town and soak in the fresh air!

The rate was spectacular, and the inn was even better, but the restaurant and bar is to die for! 5-star. Where to start? The staff is excellent, professional, exceptionally pleasant, and very accommodating. Our room was huge! Clean. Well stocked. Nice clean bathroom. We had tea in the common room in the afternoon; able to chat with other visitors - relaxing and quite pleasant. The restaurant was to die for. We made our reservation on Resy a week before. Everything was just incredible, starting with a mussel appetizer, cod and polenta/spinach dish, to the chocolate soufflé. The next morning we crossed the street to attend services at Saint Paul's Episcopal. Came back for a quick breakfast down stairs; the coffee was top-shelf, eggs perfectly made, and fresh fruit - can't beat any of that. We left our bag at the Inn, and went in town to shop, sip coffee, and take it all in. Picked up our bag and dropped it off at the Hyline building. Had lunch with local friends at Brant Point. The day, hotel, dinner, church, and lunch was all serendipitous. No negatives. Ship's Inn is one of the absolute best and well known inn and restaurant on the island.
