A nice stop after a long walk After a good walk at Beachy Head and the Cliffs we did feel a bit hungry....and even more so: Thirsty. Since this place here is right at the Beachy Head (and pretty much the only one around) we gave it a try. There is a nice bar indoors, but we took a table outside in the back on the lovely patio. Reviews on this place are quite mixed....tending to negative. But I have to say I can't say anything bad about it. The menu has some good choices, including some pub classics. We ordered a Guiness, Cider, soup of the day and a Fish Sandwich with Chips at the bar. Not long after, the food was being served. Service was friendly. The food was fine. It's not anything new or overly exciting, but has a good standard. Fish was fresh and crispy and fair priced at 6£ with chips. Soup of the day was fine too and at 4£ a really fair deal. Beer and Cider were nice and cold. It was nice, enjoying a light meal on the nice patio. Nice views and relaxing. It wasn't even that busy, even though there were loads of walkers in the area. read more

After a long hike around the cliffs, my group stopped by The Beachy Head for lunch. You order at the front and grab a table. I got the Sunday's special which consisted of turkey, potatoes, bread, bacon, and veggies. It was around £7-8 for a meal and it was very filling! I really like their gravy on the turkey. The bread was really good, too! I had a really nice view of the outside and the location is really in the middle of nowhere so you don't have many options of places to eat after your hike. I had to cancel my trip and thus my reservation at Minnie -- Tiger Inn due to the current crisis associated with the coronavirus outbreak. I contacted the management at The Beachy Head to cancel my reservation for a refund. They showed absolutely zero empathy for my situation, stating "As per our terms and conditions we can only offer a refund for a cancellation when we have 48 hours notice before your stay." I wished I had 48 hours notice for the imposed travel restrictions... Why can't the folks at the Beachy Head understand and show some compassion? You can tell a lot about an owner or manager by how he/she chooses to act towards others during a crisis. The rest of the the Beachy Head--the wonderful location, the quaint pub, the fake smiles--are just a facet. read more

The Beachy Head is a mahoosive pub situated on the infamous beauty/suicide spot of the same name in East Sussex. It has to be large to cater for the bus load of tourists that visit this spot on a daily basis. However, don't let this put you off visiting this stunning area - if you are prepared to walk a little way in either direction you will find some peace and tranquility and the views are absolutely stunning. Anyway, back to the pub. As I have already mentioned, it's pretty big, with loads of indoor seating, plus outside tables both at the front and back. There was some confusion over where you sit and eat. Apparently, the bottom two tiers of the back garden are drinks only. We moved to a table further up and were then told we couldn't eat there either. However, when we explained that we had moved there on instruction from another member of staff we were allowed to stay! We were in the middle of a 30km training walk for our forthcoming "three peaks challenge" so didn't want a big meal, consequently we plumped for two sharing platters between five of us. These included brie and red onion brûlée, chicken goujons, crispy mushrooms, lamb kofti, garlic mayo and bread. The food was average but did the job, and certainly helped soak up the two bottles of prosecco!! Not entirely sure that this was a good idea, but it did help to take the pain away in our aching legs! I wouldn't come to this pub specifically to eat, but it's a great refreshment spot if you are walking across the beautiful seven sisters. read more

A perfect spot both night time & datytime, pick your preference. Great place to watch the sunset! If you want a romantic, tranquil spot to while away the evening with friends or someone special then this is the spot. Just come prepared to wait awhile for beverage and food service. The salmon grill was worth the wait, along with the gooseberry crumble & a glass of port to finish off the evening. Also a great place to have lunch and beers after hiking along the cliff side. This isn't the greatest and most authentic country pubs in the world but after a bracing days walk in the january chill, stepping into here and parking your ice cold bottom, resolutely next to the open fire is one of the best things ever! The actual inside is spacious, with a huge v shaped bar, ready for some serious influx, but I can't really imagine it to be honest, and when I was there there was only about 3 people. I eat the beer battered fish and chips, which for only £7 was, I thought, a proper bargain, and although I don't imagine that the fish was caught that day from around the area, it was big, filling and pretty tasty really. Definitely would come again, but only because I was in the area. read more

After the long walk up from Eastbourne pier to be impressed by the cliffs, this was a very welcome spot for an authentic pub lunch. For a place of this size it still manages to retain the warm ambience of a typical English pub with rustic wooden beams separating the seating areas, a couple decent real ales on tap and a good selection of traditional pub fare. We all went for the fish and chips, which was served in whopping great portions. Very tasty with good crispy batter (this is the most important thing with fish and chips!). One touch I liked was the waiter offering us a vast tray of different sauces, of which the excellent tartar sauce was the perfect accompaniment to the fish. Much better than those annoying little sachets! The service was impressively quick considering we were a large group, the staff were helpful and friendly and the price reasonable (£6.95 for a big portion) considering the prime location for attracting tourists. read more

NOT impressed! I went here last week with a friend for a casual bit to eat and catch up with said friend. We tried to order two main meals, one of which was unavailable as it wasn't a Sunday! Being a vegetarian, my choice was somewhat limited, especially after my first attempt at ordering was unsuccessful - i ended up with a plate of mash and veg, whilst my friend had chicken. Both meals looked decidedly shrivelled and had clearly been sat on a hot plate or somewhere similar for hours - not appetising in the least and the taste was as expected - non existant. When i got home i was actually vomiting for half the night - never again! My only praise is for the delicious mocha coffee they sell which is very addictive, though rather pricey. read more

Stopped here while walking around the wonderful white cliffs. It was a quaint English-style pub with a big beverage and food menu. As is common in the UK, you pick a table, order at the bar, and your drinks & food is brought out to your table. Service was friendly and prompt. We enjoyed the food and atmosphere so much, that we stopped in twice. First was venison/beef ragu tagliatelle and lamb shank. Both meals were just delicious. The next day we stopped in for Sunday roast - turkey and beef. Deliciousness once again. read more

This pub wins the worst pub in the UK. The two stars are for the location and the atmosphere. The wait, the service attitude and the quality of food have been the lowest I've experience in the UK. Amazing location. So sad when you see people ruin the end of a nice hike with such experience. Avoid at all costs. read more

We went to The Beachy Head for some drinks after visiting the cliffs. Absolutely charming little pub. There was a beautiful terraced garden area where we sat outside and had drinks. They had a good selection of beer, ciders and wine behind the bar. On this particular occasion we did not eat, but I did have a peek at a few of the dishes coming out and it looked fantastic. The biggest piece of fish with the fish and chips that I had ever seen, I mean just massive. Next time I will definitely be having that! For a nice meal at the top of the cliffs or just to have a drink outside in the garden area, I would be there with bells on. read more

The whole experience was appalling. We went for a meal on a Monday to find that half the menu was unavailable and it was only 6pm! Having finally chosen something to eat we waited and we waited.......when the food eventually arrived after an hour one of the meals had to be sent back due to the worst lamb rib ever seen- tough grey in colour and totally inedible. Minor detail was that we had a 15 month old baby with us and after yet another long wait for a replacement meal we had all just about had enough. It was evident the staff did not care at all and no remuneration was offered. We had brought guests from Switzerland and London and the whole meal was an embarressment. We shall certainly lay not take guests there again. read more

Large pub with a nice garden at the back. Beer was great but food was not so good: poor beef quality, maybe just wasn't lucky piece this time for me. Service a little slow. Definitely recommended for a great weekend escape. read more

Have been here a few times, have had some average meals, but seem to have improved somewhat since the recent overhaul. Averagely priced, typical chain restaurant food which is perfectly edible. Good parking, suitable for children. Cosy atmosphere inside. read more

It is worth the drive to this pub. The food is great since they have changed the menu. We often go here for Sunday lunch with out 1 year old. It is child friendly but I would say don't buy a seperate childs meal for a toddler as it is way too big, we just share our dinner. Prices aren't bad, service can be slow when they are busy. They offer a great range of food-all delicious and there are lovely views of beachy head if you sit by the window! read more

Beachy Head is a charming pub-restaurant. The view is spectacular and it's laid out well so you have privacy and you can hear what the person opposite to you is saying. Staff are very friendly and hard working but during busy periods sometimes have their hands too full to deliver efficient service. I didn't give Beachy Head the final two stars because I and other people have had the same problem there which is that they seem to fequently run out of food! The last time I went there they had even run out of chips, a pub-must! Our choice was really limited and a vast range of side dishes became a choice between new potatoes or mash. Had an absolutely abysmal experience on a busy Sunday at the very end of August, as it was extremely(!) understaffed to the point where customers had been queuing so long at the bar they were verbally abusing eachother over who was to be served next. How does this even happen, I ask, when you choose to serve sunday roasts in a popular british tourist spot, with no other pubs around? It's absolutely mind-boggling why one wouldn't hire more staff. On top of that, the staff was rude and condescending, probably due to being so overworked. No wonder - if I worked there I would hate my job too. On the question of how/where to order from my boyfriend's dad who was visiting from abroad, the answer from one of the waitors was "THAT'S the restaurant, THAT'S the pub.. THAT'S the restaurant, THAT'S the pub." Very nice. The wine glasses we were given were dirty (Mine had a live spider making a web inside it. Upon pointing it out to a member of staff, no apology came, I just got the feeling that I was somehow bothering him) and so was everything else, to be quite honest. Every single table was cluttered with dirty plates and glasses, some of which were left for over an hour. On our table included. There was an hour's wait for food, and during this wait a confused waitress tried to bring us someone elses food twice. I had fish and chips, and I can't say it was anything special, rather tasteless. We waited maybe 30-35 minutes for desserts, which were the only up side to the visit. This is my second visit to a Vintage Inn on a sunday, and both visits are almost exactly the same. Never again a Vintage Inn. read more

Overpriced for a pub in a village. We waited for our food for 2 hours. When we asked why, the waitress got extremely offended and angry and said she was waiting for us to finish our starters. Well done. I am sorry to ask. read more

Food was awful tasted bland and was cold and this was on a evening when the pub was not even very full and we were expecting much more from such a nice looking pub probably will never go back unless its just for a pint after a long walk above the cliffs read more
