I knew Razor Dolls wasn't full of barbers, but true artists. As soon you get past the skate decks on the walls and the books on tattoos, Razor Dolls has the friendly demeanor of your local corner barber shop. You just want to hang out with them after hours, sipping beers and discussing the latest dramas/events in their lives. In fact, I'm pretty sure they'll offer you a beer to sip while you're getting trimmed! I've had Ryan and Haley cut my hair, and every time they keep one-upping themselves for the best haircut ever. They take their time making sure everything is perfect, so make sure to plan ahead. For a men's cut & wash, it took me between around 60 minutes, and up to 90 minutes. You won't want to leave, but I've warned ya! The prices are definitely higher (for a men's cut) than any other salon I've been to, but worth it for the BEST haircut of your life. Brad seemed to instinctively know what I was looking for and gave me a great haircut. He was professional, chatty (without being annoyingly chatty like some in this profession can be) and very friendly. He seemed genuinely thankful for my custom at the end rather than eager to usher me out of the door so he could get to the next customer. I had a cut and colour (don't tell anyone - it's supposed to look natural) and the price came to more than I'd usually pay but you know you've found somewhere good when you pay more but consider it money well spent. After an arduous research and more research process of finding a good barber in the city, I finally booked an appointment with a promising one in the far end of the city. Whilst shopping in Emporium however I stumbled across Fleet St - and saw how nice it looked and the barbers looked like they knew what they were doing. Suffice to say I cancelled my other appointment and did a walk in (thank godness for walk ins!) here instead. My barber was friendly, straight to the point and informative. He was telling me about their in house products and took care of me well. (free coffee! Or beer if you wish) That was pretty much one of the best haircut I've had in a LONG time, because you know that your barber is doing a good job and you trust him. He listened to what I was looking for and didn't hesitate to do it or offer suggestions. The price was $49 for a cut which I found a bit pricy, but for a quality cut you get what you paid for. Lastly don't miss out on their fantastic in house products, each one is priced at $28 and they work really well. I will definitely come back on my next Melbourne trip.

Based on Yelp reviews, I went to take a look at the salon. It was very busy on a Wed afternoon, which I took as a good sign and made an appointment for Friday. Atsuko did a fantastic job cutting and coloring my hair. Her attention to detail was impressive - she spotted mistakes in my previous haircut that even I hadn't noticed, and was very careful the the color didn't splatter or run onto my skin or clothing. I brought some photos of my ideal cut - she did a great job marrying the style to what my hair actually does. She even gave me some tips on how to blow dry it better when I am doing it myself. Plus, she managed to pull this all off in less than 2 hours! (And it didn't feel rushed). My hair looks amazing and I am so happy with it! And even though they seem to always be busy, they are somehow able to fit people in on short notice so don't be shy about calling them.
