I was driving along Fairway Road South and stopped at a light. I saw a rather small sign on a tiny patch of grass for The Beat Goes On. It said that it was in a plaza coming up. I kept that in mind. It's amusing to me that I have spent a ton of time at Farm Boy that I never noticed The Beat Goes On. It's across from Farm Boy. One day, I went into Farm Boy and came out without buying a thing. It shocked me. Perhaps I have spent so much time there that I have everything that I need. I left my car parked in a decent spot in front of the supermarket and walked over to The Beat Goes On. This store sells new and used CDs, DVDs, cassettes, records, and video games. There are also turntables and move. I would say that there is more used merchandise. I absolutely love going to such music stores. I can easily spend an hour there, which is exactly what I did. I got some nice used CDs at cheap prices. There was an Erasure CD that I didn't have in my collection. It was mine for $3. I also got a couple of solo CD albums by Dave Gahan, the lead singer of Depeche Mode. I picked up a couple of records (vinyl to the younger crowd). Pet Shop Boys released Super a couple of years ago. The record version of this album was 50% off. Without any hesitation, I snatched it up. I also got a used Dirty Dancing record for $2. I am late to the Dirty Dancing bandwagon. Last year, I watched the movie for the first time on a flight back to Toronto from Shanghai. I have always loved the music from the movie, but never got the album until now! The used collection of records is impressive here. They are on the floor, so you may want to stretch now and again while you flip through everything. The man at the counter fetching my CDs was friendly and personable. I had a wonderful experience here. I also enjoyed all the Beatles music being played while I was browsing. It may seem a bit corporate to be a traditional record store but give it a chance. It's really a throwback to the classic enthusiast record store. The staff loves movies and music and really know their products. Add in being spotlessly clean in a genre that sometime thrives in dust and you have a great spot to browse if you still appreciate physical media. read more

The manager of this place, a younger woman with glasses and multi-colored hair, is one of the worst managers that I've ever encountered! She has absolutely no business in dealing with people! She is toxic! She is very rude to her customers! Frankly, she treats them like garbage! When someone makes a complaint about her anti-social behaviour, she'll lie about the complainant to ruin his/her image! This place is not worth your time! You are better off spending your hard earned money elsewhere that at the very least has decent management! This place is not it! The manager has turned this place into an inconvenient store to shop! The customer service at this location was great until she was recruited! She brought the store's standard to a very low point! I do not recommend this place at all to anyone! read more

It won't refund your money even if you bought it yesterday and have the receipt. So, Beat Goes On shifts the risk and cost of acquiring faulty, second-hand merchandise to the consumer. I went to Beat Goes On for A, and its remedy for supplying a damaged CD is to direct to me to B-Z. The only fair equivalent to the unsatisfactory product I bought from BGO is returning my cash. I'll buy new, from now on. I think it will be cheaper, in the long run. BGO's return policy is fly-by-night and self-serving. read more

The Beat Goes On is a chain of used CD stores that now also sells used movies and games. The staff here are friendly and know their music, and have always been able to assist me in finding what I want, even when I am not sure exactly what I want. I often find great hidden gems in their bargain bin... often I have found so many I have purchased more than I wanted! This location is located in the plaza across from Fairview Park Mall with the Canadian Tire.
