A friend is in town this weekend and we wanted to pamper ourselves, so we stopped here today. They have great customer service - they called to let us know that one of our technicians was running about 10 minutes late, which was fine. This is in the strip mall right near Planet Fitness, on Orchard Lake Rd. The place is rather huge which I was not expecting. I was getting a pedicure and my friend was getting a blowout. We were both very happy with our experiences here. The only reason I am giving them four stars instead of five is that it's a bit pricey, although I believe it's on par with other places in the area. Both of our services were $50 each before tip, and I got a regular pedicure, not a gel pedicure; a gel pedicure would have been $75. The Beauty Lounge is always buzzing. It's a lovely salon, recently renovated and modern. I'm always greeted by the front staff upon arrival and given a smock. I see Anthony for my hair and have been coming here a few years now. He does a great job every single time. I don't tell him what I want, I just have him do his thing. I've never left disappointed and love my hair when I'm done. He's meticulous about his clients and times out our sessions perfectly. It's wild to witness actually! One by one, we get up with the most beautiful cuts and color. He also uses high-end, top quality products. The first time I had my hair blown out a girl washed my hair and the stylist Carla came over and said the hair wash girl was going to start and that she Carla would be back. Twenty minutes later the wash girl finished blowing my hair and then Carla took exactly three minutes to finish it. This was unexceptable. Then the following week I had an appointment again with Carla. I had an emergency right before my appointment and did not cancel it. I called the next day to talk to a manager because they charged me in full for the missed appointment. A week later I called back since I never received a call back from the manager and asked to speak to the owner. Someone came on and told me to just charge back he couldn't do anything. Then he put me on hold and I have been holding for 22 minutes. I strongly discouraged anyone from going here. read more

I was really looking forward to my appointment but I hate my color and was insulted by the stylist. She called my hair dry, thin, orange, and remarked many times about "covering my grays". She refused to believe that my hair wasn't bleached in the photos I showed her even though I told her I did it myself with Revlon Colorsilk that has no ammonia she just kept saying "that's bleach". Ghazwan is amazing. A true master and creative individual. I am new to the area and after telling the front desk my issues and asking for "the best you've got," I was paired up with him. My hair was damaged, had the wrong color, and was outdated. I came out a new person with a quality experience. I did not have to explain too long on what I wanted and he chose my color which was perfect. He also educates you on how to care for and style your hair as he uses products and techniques. You won't realize just how much better you can treat your hair. His years of experience are everything because it is hard to find someone who is great at color, cut, styling, and beauty tips. I rate the beauty lounge 3 stars only because of my latest experiences. I've tried out 2 of the "top" stylist at the beauty lounge and I wasn't too happy with my results. The lady also over charged my sister and I. If the curls had stayed in my hair for longer than an hour I wouldn't have thought twice about the amount I paid for the hair style... The same day My other sister got her hair done at another salon, her curls stayed for 7 hours and she paid less than me. On a brighter note: I would highly recommend seeing Rasha, Valoria, and/or Nicole. They are the best :) I get my hair cuts by Rasha... She is amazing! I have been getting my hair cut by her for the past 2 1/2years. If you're a fan of glitter and dark make up then I suggest you get your make up done by Gloria. Neta is one of the few hairdressers who actually listened to what I wanted and made my hair look great. Not the place to go for nails. I dropped my niece off for her nail appt. Seemed like a good job done, but my niece chose a polish from a different wall then the manicurist doing her nails. Permission had to be given from the co-worker for that color.. I made my appointment today for gel polish remove and basic manicure. They asked me to get there 15 minutes earlier to soak off the gel. When I got there manicurist asked me if she is supposed to drill off the gel polish!!!!?!!?!?! Crazy!! She said she had no idea how to remove gel polish. Then why did they make me an appointment. I don't normally wear gel polish but had it put in a couple weeks ago for a special occasion. I will never go back here! Complete waste of my time! Bad scheduling, manicurist is bizarre, never heard of not knowing how to remove gel polish before. I wasn't asking to have it put on. Receptionist sit behind a huge Apple computer screen and ignore you. This place is for clientele that has no experience with a good mail or hair salon. Left with no manicure. I posted a very positive rating of this salon a little less than a year ago, but after a few recent events, I've decided to change that. I used to love coming here because they are always nice and friendly. Even though the two girls who used to work there and do my hair left to work somewhere else, that didn't stop me from wanting to go there for hair/makeup. I had made an 8 am appointment in August with Fjolla for my cousin's wedding that I was a bridesmaid in, 9 months before the actual event. I was so excited because I love Fjolla's work and couldn't wait to see her work on myself. I know I made it with her because I specifically asked the girl on the phone how I should pronounce her name, so that I could say it correctly when I came to the appointment. However, when I got to the salon, I was informed that my appointment was with Chanel. Uhhhhh, what???? I didn't even know of a Chanel that worked there. After I insisted that I made the appointment with Fjolla, the girl at the front desk flippantly tells me that "she lives an hour and a half away," basically telling me that Fjolla wouldn't show up to an appointment I had made with her because it wasn't worth her time. Chanel ended up doing my makeup, it was nice and I did like it, but it just bothered me that they didn't care enough about me as a client to let me know they had altered my appointment. The girl at the desk charged me $50 instead of $75 because "of what happened." I brushed it off as an honest mistake, and considering I didn't have time to talk to someone about it, I let it go. Fast forward to October when my cousins from California were in town for a wedding and my sister booked them appointments with Ban. When she called to confirm a few days before their appointments, my sister was told that their appointments were actually with Chanel, not Ban! What a coincidence that two people from the same family just so happened to be part of the same exact "mistake." I'm not sure what they're trying to do, but they definitely don't seem to care about their clients, and that's really too bad considering they have amazing people there that do great work. But this was honestly such a shitty experience for me, and I will not be going back there anymore. Is this something they regularly do? I'm not sure. Maybe Fjolla and Ban only make time for clients they know and like? I'm not sure about that, either. Neither me nor my cousins got an apology or explanation for this "mistake" and we probably never will because no one there cares enough to do that. I hope this isn't a regular occurrence because there are too many talented people there for that to keep happening. I did see another review from a few years ago about someone going in for a hair appointment and having their stylist change on them without them knowing, so maybe it is something they regularly do. read more

Request: updo for wedding- Maid of Honor) I walked into my 9:00 appointment on Friday July 3 2015. Prior to this appointment, I had heard about this salon through friends and have looked through their work. Months ahead of time I booked my appointment with Theodora. I checked in at the front desk to be informed that a lady named Nicole would be doing my hair instead. THEY CHANGED BY STYLIST WITHOUT TELLING ME. The switched happened without previously informing me, but I gave Nicole a chance regardless. I sit on her chair, discuss the style I wanted and she gets started. Throughout the process of the hairdo I questioned her a little but gave her the benefit of the doubt. By the end I told her it was totally wrong. And she said that she would have to redo the entire thing. I go to the front desk to show the owner the MESS, surrounded by other stylist. None of them could admit that it looked nothing like the picture. I told the owners I have to be out soon because I'm the maid of honor and need to be at the brides house before 1:00. No one at the salon had time to fix it. We came to that realization after having to waste 45 mins asking other stylist. After I decided that the entire engineering of the updo was off and that whatever squeezing another stylist can make wasn't gonna fix it, I MOVED SALONS. At the second salon, Lina the owner completely took down the mess. I had 3 women working on me and I came out satisfied. Walked into beauty lounge the coming Monday to EXPRESS MY DISAPPOINTMENT in not only their work but most importantly the management. They told me to come in Wednesday to see if they can "compensate me for the inconvenience". I call Wednesday morning to see when I should come in. They called back and offered me 20% off any service. ( her tone on the phone was UNBEARABLE and POMPOUS. I told her that I didn't want to be insulting but the offer was pathetic. By the end of the day I paid for two hair services, and I was lucky I didn't have to be photographed with the first updo. The owners had a problem admitting that one, the UPDO WAS AN EMBARRASSMENT and two they FAILED TO PERFORM PROFESSIONALLY. The owner's behavior was one of SUPERIORITY OVER THE CLIENT. They made me, a paying customer, feel DISRESPECTED and like I was the underrepresented person in the case. They took advantage of the fact that I'm from California and assumed I had no knowledge of the way a salon works or what a decent job looks like. They felt like I could not influence their business in any way and treated me as such when the owner SNUBBED HER NOSE at the idea of compensation. They had no intention of righting the wrong. The ethics of this business is certainly DISHONORABLE. Firstly I was robbed of my time, my money and lastly of respect. I urge you to see that underneath these perceived glamorous blowouts, the management believes that YOU ARE NOTHING IMPORTANT and will PLAY YOU if they believe you don't have power over the situation. In truth, the customers have the ultimate power: buying power. This is why I wrote this long review and thank you to those who made it this far lol! Yelp has allowed for a voice that was deemed unimportant by the owner to tell this story. If you still feel compelled to be the clients, that's your right. At the least, I wanted this to be told because clients have the right to all information. Terrible experience. Rude hairdresser who did a terrible, half-ass job and yelled at me for being 8 minutes late, and had major attitude the entire time because of it. (Next time, just cancel the appointment instead of punishing me for it by doing a shitty job). I asked for very loose curls similar to a blow out. She gave me tiny little wound up poodle curls. I also get my hair teased all the time - this was by far the worst tease I've ever seen anyone do, and I'm still trying to untangle it. I had specifically asked beforehand for someone who can do layers. The hairdresser had to borrow scissors from another person, didn't give me layers, complained about the client before me having too much hair and not being used to cutting that (to me who ALSO has a lot of hair and had ALSO asked for layers), and when my hair had still felt heavy (because she didn't layer) and had asked to have it more layered or a few more inches cut, she was annoyed and made sure to let me know. $70+ for this?? She didn't even have her own BASIC shears, let alone thinning shears. It's one thing if I was just a walk in and they were upfront about not knowing how to layer my hair and not having their own shears, but I had made an appointment beforehand and had *specifically* requested to be paired with someone who could do layers. Not to mention that when I got here I had to wait over 20 minutes after my scheduled time for her to get to me. And after all that I still had to go to another salon and pay even more money for them to fix my hair. And they even verified this hairdresser had just given me a simple haircut, no layers. I went to The Beauty Lounge for the first time this week and sat in Anthony K.'s chair. I got a full head of highlights, a trim, and a style. He hair did an amazing job! Loved my cool-blonde hair color and style. Anthony took the time to talk with me before starting any work on my hair, to make sure he knew exactly what I wanted and what blonde I wanted to achieve. On Sat, Feb 23 is when this nightmare began. I saw Nicole Dado, who I've been seeing routinely. I went in to have my roots highlighted & left with broken, dry, brittle & all shades of the rainbow hair. I went in with beautiful ashy, white blonde hair. My apt was to only highlight my roots. She highlighted my hair followed by a toner. Due to negligence, the toner was left on for WAY too long which turned it BLUE. It was horrific. To remove the blue, she did a bleach wash which made my hair yellow & gray, crispy, fried & broken. SO much of my hair had broken off. I told her "my hairs burnt, it's all breaking& my colors awful". She tells me she knows & puts another toner on, washes it out, & there's the final result - blue, gray, yellow, burnt, broken hair. Nicole cried& said "this is not my work" she told me to leave with wet hair as she was scared to touch it anymore due to the damage she caused & return on Tuesday for fixing. After being in there for 5+ hours getting my hair DESTROYED, she proceeds to HAVE ME PAY& tells me to Venmo me her tip! I returned on Tuesday & my apt was a disappointment. Long story short -Nicole does a "fuse" dose on me, clarifies & tones my hair. During this whole time where she is FaceTiming a guy. It was after hours at the salon, but in no means does it give a service provider the right to be so unprofessional. Needless to say, my hair was not fixed, I left the salon with yellow & grey broken hair. I told her - "U know this is not how my hair has ever looked. I hate it. I walked in with nice white blonde healthy hair, & I am leaving with burnt hair that's 5 different colors! She offers me a refund which I accepted. She tells me "usually they don't refund anyone but I will have the girls refund you in the morning" & I left the salon with wet hair -again! I spoke with the manager, Britney, on Fri, March 1 & she told me I'd receive a check for the refund & she will get me in to have treatments done on my hair. Weeks later: no check or treatments. On Fri Mar 22, I spoke with Britney to check the status of my refund. She assured me "u should have it in a few days - I put it in the mail myself last week" On Wed, March 27, I called the salon & requested an owner call me back. On Thurs, March 28 I received a call from Britney. I asked the status of the check. She says she could not send it out because they received a dispute letter for my charge(But u told me u put it in the mail urself) I know that if a dispute letter is coming from my bank that I'd personally had to have disputed the charge -which I never did. I told her send me a pic of the letter. She got an attitude & told me she couldn't send me a pic of the letter bc it is currently under investigation LOL & it is a legal issue. I told her okay, besides that, what about my treatments? She tells me "I was under the impression U are uncomfortable to come back" I said "No, U stated U yourself will see that I get in for treatments." She told me she has to see what she can do. I contacted my bank who stated there is NO DISPUTE for the charge & stated that no letter went out to the BL.. I spoke to my BIL, whos an attorney &a client of Benny in regards to the "letter" & he said legally, I'm allowed to see it. I called back Britney & told her my conversations& she lost it! She was screaming at me "NOTHING WE DO MAKES U HAPPY" (u haven't offered me 1 option to help me so y would I be happy) "r u threatening us!" She went on..I asked to talk to an owner. She said, I am the manager U talk to me-I pull the strings. The way she spoke to me is unjustified, so unprofessional. Britney, u represent BL..Shame on u. If "u pull the strings", y has it been another 7 days & u haven't called me? Owners- it's sad that u'd rather lose a family of clients then take care of 1 client. People don't treat people like this. Its probably the culture of this area, I'm from Marco Island, Florida. Which is a very upscale society. Beauty Salons in Naples or Marco Island would never use the " beading " method for extentions nor did the salons ever apply extensions no matter how much the client wanted them. The salons in Marco Island and Naples will not risk their reputation. In this area the hair they use is too thick for American women. For other cultures, it's their style, the thick long hair, it is what it is......just saying. I also must add in my defense that whomever gave Caroline such a great review slandered me on Yelp, I was refunded my money spent on her " wonderful extensions ". First here for a trial makeup and hair for my wedding. First I walk in, nobody says hi. I wait by the front desk for good 2 minutes and somebody finally said how can I help you? Not a big deal, they seemed busy looking at their screens. Second thing, I checked in, and the hair dresser Rasha came up and was beyond friendly and sweet and introduced herself. And then she went back to her client So then I'm sitting waiting for 5 mins for the makeup artist for show up, which was Gloria. I was expecting her to come up and Introduce herself to me say "hi I'm Gloria come on back this way" no in this she sees me sitting across from where makeup stand is and she's like *are you * my name* I'm like yeah, she's like come sit here. And I go sit on her makeup table...when I can EEWW I mean it was a disaster. All her makeup was beyond dirty, thrown in a spehora shopping bags. And she opens the drawer and same..makeup everything falling out, it was just soo gross. Then I told her I'm looking for something very light and soft and that can last all day since I have oily skin. She's like okay. She starts applying my makeup, we get to the foundation part..she made my foundation a good 5 shades darker than my actual neck color and my face color (I had no tan) so I look, I'm like I don't like to look this dark, I would prefer it to my skin color with a little bit of bronzer. She replies "listen I've been doing this for 10 years, relax, I know what I'm doing, if you're gonna be this picky why don't you do your makeup" I was Insanely shocked how she spoke to me. She was so rude the whole time, I know makeup very well, I had all the makeup that she used on my face, but I have never felt so and looked so cakey. My face looked like frosting with a very rough finish. She didn't put makeup on my neck, so I really looked like crazy, my skin is pale but my face was like snooki dark, and she said it's just the lighting in her situation after I told her that it doesn't match me well once again, it actually looked much darker when I walked out of the salon, since the salon had bright lights that tend to wash you out more. She charged me 85 dollars, to basically make me look like a hooker with black eyeshadow and gold glitter that went up to my eyebrows, which I only asked for a soft natural smokey eye. Overall, I had probably the WORST experience. I don't see why people even go to this women, maybe people that like to look like super fake and cakey. Makeup is meant to bring out you're features and make your more beautiful. Not somebody else, and I didn't look one bit prettier. I was so embarrassed to go anywhere with my makeup, took it off after taking pictures to show to my friends. Save your money, don't go to somebody that doesn't understand that makeup is personal, everybody likes it different, she is gets offended whenever I tell her I don't like something, then what's the point of paying 85 for trial? Best 85 I have wasted in my life because If she did this on my wedding it would have been a disaster. Avoid her. I had an incredibly horrid experience at this salon. Unbelievably rude hairdresser that did a despicable job on my hair dye. It would have looked less tragic had I bought the cheapest hair dye from the store and done it myself, blindfolded. I paid for gross disgusting hair and they're expensive. Had I been an advertisement for them on Instagram they would have done a better job. Avoid this place at all costs. read more
