Having moved from student and upper-middle class haven Stranmillis to the city centre I found myself at a loss, where do I get my haircut now?
After trying a few places I wondered into this barbers just a two minute walk from my apartment. It was a soaking wet day (as days often are in this city of rain) and I had finally had enough of a mop of hair that any number of wax and gel products had failed to style.
I'm still not sure of her name but the barber who generally cuts my mop is always spot on. Cheery and chatty, without being overly talkative about topics so banal you want the world to implode.
Quick and efficient. It's always what I wanted. I can't stand the process of the actual haircut, but when it's complete there is always a sigh of relief.
Granted, this is certainly not the cheapest place to go in the city centre area, and there are certainly much more 'old school' barbers charging significantly less, but I think it's worth it.
£11.50 for a trim, steep? Perhaps, but it's only every couple of months... I just suck it up. read more
