It's post Paspaley polo and the entire event has descended on the Bellevue lounge bar for the evening. It feels slightly less than civilised, due to the sheer number of people who have decided to simultaneously cram the newly refurbished upstairs level, but beneath the boozed masses, I detect a svelte and elegant lounge bar setting. 'Stressed' leather couches in various rooms feel like your very own living room. And the internal open air courtyard provides a fresh contemporary contrast. The staff are copping absolute caning yet they all manage to somehow stay polite and civilised. A big ask in the face of busloads of polo goers freshly emerged from guzzling Verve in the sunshine for six hours. Me and my friends urgently need to be fed, and in my haste I order two serves of wedges before I recall these guys to tapas 'boards' for two or four pax. Once in particular catches my eye.
