Stayed in their bed and breakfast…read more AWFUL. Avoid at all costs. The first room they put us in, Room #2: Puke on the walls. We ordered a double bed, it came with two singles. Strange smell. Gross, dirty carpet, not vacuumed. Dirty WC. Hair from previous occupant on the pillow. Ejaculation stains on the sheets. Seriously. Crusty. Final straw. Asked for a different room. It seems the room they had put us in is usually reserved for people too drunk to walk home. For 75 pounds a night? Just incredibly wrong. Second room they put us in: Seemed decent. They pushed to beds together to make the "double" we were promised on-line. "Bridget" was consulted with to ensure this "double" bed in the first place. Ya... It was...almost fine? until later that night. When the smell started coming from the bathroom. The sewage had backed up. It was awful. We opened the window, sprayed perfume, but it was either that or stay in the car. I almost opted for staying in the car. I woke up with a huge pain in my shoulder from the gap in the beds. Ouch! Do not stay here if you value...anything. It is a disgusting place to stay, and I will be writing to the booking company. I think the UK health authorities should be notified as well, for room #2. I almost cried at the experience. Just...no.

Probably the best outdoor/smoking area I've ever seen, all undercover with a pool table and a small portable bar. You may actually want to stay outside all night. Inside though is a comfortable as your own house, in fact it really feels like a house party. Cool kids of Chelmsford gather to watch the freshest bands and dj's that even London aren't privy to. The lineups are fantastic and the bar staff are great. Small towns need more of this!

The good thing about this place is they don't charge you for cover (well at least when I went) and dress codes aren't strict (I guess cuz they assume everyone in Europe has a good sense of style). Last I was here my friends and I got there early enough to get a booth and ordered ourselves drinks before we hit the dancefloor. But while there, I accidentally bumped into some lady smoking where then she told me to "WOTCH IT!" Also, there seemed to be more guys and girls. You know what that means (I'll let that simmer for a bit). I also couldn't really enjoy their music, not because I didn't like it but moreso because I couldn't get used to it. But everyone around me seemed to enjoy it, what with it being stuff from the U.S. and other countries. The crowd there was very diverse too, especially both young and old. Mostly old. Overall, if I was back in the area I would comeback just to party here one more time. I know there aren't that many clubs/ night spots in Cambridge but the Fez is a good club to check out if you're in the area.

For the taller person this place is a little cramped but I'm used to that now but it can be a hit hairy after afew and you forget to duck. Also the coat check is a joke, there is no real queue and it's basically just a free for all to get your coat in or out ad this means it drops a star as a good coat check is the mark of a good club. All in all it's not a bad night out, especially seeing as cambridge has little else to it's name.

Although the food isnt great quality, i think alot is microwaved food as its never been good quality. The drinks are priced very well not too expensive or too cheap. The toilets are upstairs where you have to walk up a twisted staircase. Upstairs you will find lovely cosy leather sofas and another bar.

The walls are decorated with various old paintings, and there's a fire place in one part of the pub. It's easily a place where I could see whiling away an afternoon or evening in a very traditional setting! They weren't serving food when we were there which was a little surprising given it was a Saturday evening, but someone said they were doing food at lunchtime. Although, with a food hygiene rating of 2 out of 5 according to the Scores on the Doors website you may not want to eat here anyway. Hopefully I will make it back at some point to enjoy the pub some more! Possibly skipping the food though...

They have entertaining events from live nights to flirt night on Fridays, girls' night out, pyjamas party and amongst a list of other events. It also play host to a lot of upcoming bands and top DJs. The freshers night has been the best night so far for us, with a ticket of £15 we were able to watch top RnB stars live and music flowed all through out the night. The location is very convenient and the staffs are very helpful. It is a cool place to relax between lectures and meet your fellow students as you can always share your experiences, and students discount is a sure thing.

I was clearly instructed not to dress up for this place and not to expect much. So I didn't. When you walk in to TOOO it's as if you're stepping back in time and right away I recognised the wallpaper as being the exact same that my Grandfather has at home in NY from the 1960's, so I automatically felt comfortable. Look around and it's as if not a single thing has been moved since it was put up there for the first time, whether it be pictures, the wood in the fireplace or the old man at the bar. You can nestle up next to one of the fireplaces, which you'll need to on a snowy winter night like when we were there. Get yourself your pints, or as I prefer, the spectacular cider from one of the barrels lined up on the bar. We're talking 7% alcho content people! On cider! Get some crisps for you and your mates and sit back talking about how old and great this pub is. In a town that is hailed as "the oldest recorded town in England" and hosts meeting for the Colchester Historical Enactment Society you surely can't go wrong. A place like this made me feel right at home like my own American dive bar, but in the States we don't have such grand cider served from wooden barrels or a lovely old fella giving out warm Christmas mince pies with joy. This place is top notch. Here are a few vital tips to help you survive a pub that could easily knock you on your arse whether it be by the cider, the step you drunkenly miss, the old man or the bar keep... 1. Don't you dare answer your cell phone here. This is a rule I LOVE like no other. Seriously, watch even pulling it out of your pocket if you know what's good for you. 2. Don't be surprised if you think someone's talking to you and they're not or if they're talking to you and you don't realise. There's no music to get in the way of a conversation, but all that quiet makes it sometimes confusing. 3. Good luck in the ladies room. You could really freeze your butt to the toilet if you're not careful. 4. And, if you're lucky enough to pull while in TOOO, feel confident in knowing that the condom machine is fully stocked. P.S. please don't start coming here and making it THE cool spot in Colchester. I want to find a seat when I return next Christmas, preferably by the fireplace.

Its decoration and the crackling fire make you feel like coming home instead of entering just an ordinary place to have a drink or two. The Oddy is most famous for its delicious ciders from the region and got most recently awarded as the East Anglian Regional Cider Pub of the Year by the Campaign for Real Ale, but you also get a nice range of Scotch and of course ale here. The crowd is mixed from young to old and always friendly just like owner John Parrick, who has a few rules, though, like no swearing and no usage of mobile phones inside the pub. But once you tried one of the aforementioned ciders you want to enjoy it with no disturbance from the outside world anyway. And on top of all that the prices are low and to quote a good friend of mine This is one of the few places where you still get a pint when you order a pint.
