I worked with a coordinator at Edgewater Pavilion months in advance to finalize details for my…read morewedding. Unfortunately, the coordinator who worked with me was suddenly fired 3 weeks before my wedding day and although I met with the owner/manager to go over the plans that had already been arranged with the previous employee...none of it was followed up on or completed as promised for my wedding day. The entire number of tables for our guests was changed the day before my wedding (from 20 tables to only 14) which caused stress and incurred unnecessary expense for centerpieces. I was told numerous times that the venue could hold 200 people (and this is also stated on wedding websites that feature this venue - some even say capacity is 300!!), but after the number of tables was cut I was told I was mistaken and the venue could only fit 175 people "uncomfortably". For my wedding of 150 I would say this venue was still too small to fit everyone comfortably. In addition, my wedding was 3 months ago and I have never received a final bill or the return of my deposit. I've contacted the owner and she has not responded with any receipts outlining our payments/refund and has been rude to myself, my husband, bridesmaids, my dad and my mom on multiple occasions. Although the venue is beautiful, please save yourself the stress and frustration. My suggestion is to plan your wedding somewhere with better service and organization where the owner actually enjoys their job and working with the public.

A Parent's Dream Spot!…read more Mama Bear Play Café is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere. The play area is spotless, safe, and packed with creative activities that keep kids entertained for hours. The space is designed so thoughtfully--you can tell it was created by someone who truly understands kids and parents. The staff is friendly, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile to make sure everyone feels at home. My kiddos leaves happy (and ready for a nap!) every time. If you're looking for a clean, fun, and relaxing place for kids to play while you recharge, Mama Bears Play Café is it. We're already planning our next visit!

I had a very upsetting experience at this playground that I feel needs to be shared. I arrived with…read morea valid local pass that I've used before without any issues, but this time, the owner immediately treated me with suspicion. She questioned the pass and asked to see my ID. I explained that I had recently moved to the area and that my ID was still from out of state, but she made me feel as if I were lying or trying to cheat the system. What hurt the most was seeing another person come in right after me with the exact same pass--yet they weren't asked to show any ID or questioned at all. As a Hispanic parent, I couldn't help but feel that I was being singled out and treated differently because of how I look. This wasn't just rude--it felt discriminatory. I came to enjoy time with my child and instead left feeling embarrassed, judged, and completely unwelcome. A place meant for children and families should be inclusive and respectful to everyone, and that was absolutely not my experience here.

We were offered to hold a "Get out and Vote" rally for a local school board election…read more Weeks prior, the manager of the Garden Room offered their venue to hold the event and confirmed the day and time. After advertising the event on social media, we arrived on the day of the event to set things up and the owner of the Garden Room told us to leave. We introduced ourselves and offered our hand for a handshake and he ignored it. We told the owner we had booked his venue with his manager. The owner said, "Well, They Didn't approve it with me!" and told us to leave. We had a friendly event planned and invited the opposition to attend. We found out later the owner has strong political views toward the ultra right and supports the opposition who wants to destroy public education by selling out our public schools for profit. Regardless of his political views, his manager scheduled his venue for this rally and the owner did not honor it on the day we were to hold it. Buyer beware. You cannot trust your event to be held here. Disgraceful!

There is a negative review regarding a "Get out and Vote" rally and I just want to say that the…read moreevent not happening that day was completely my fault as I didn't follow protocol to get it approved with the owner. Also there was absolutely no charge for this event at all. I am so incredibly sorry for the inconvenience it caused everyone that day. It's my knowledge that the event still happened just east of the venue so that attendees could still participate even if it wasn't as planned :( I no longer work at The Garden Room but I can say it's a wonderful venue with a tremendous staff and you will not be disappointed. Please don't let this one event that did not go well because of my actions ruin your future interest and bookings of this venue. *Please note that politics and the views of anyone affiliated with The Garden Room had nothing to do with the event not occurring at the venue it was solely my mess up that caused the inconvenience that day.

I don't know if there's been a change in management but wow, have things gone downhill. The staff was okay but their manager, the one that coordinated our event, was rude, very difficult to work with, and it was next to impossible to get any response from her while we were planning the event. The day of the event, she wasn't friendly or welcoming at all. The place was dirty.....cat feces, dead bird (half eaten) on a lounge chair, other chairs and tables were not wiped down. The staff was responsive to cleaning up the feces and dead bird but it was not a good start to our event. I asked if the water trampolines were going to be filled with some air before all the guest starting arriving since they were only about half full. They said that that's just how they were. I'd always seen them fuller at previous events and was worried about them especially since they were covered in duct tape patches. About 2 hours into our event, I noticed that there was some commotion around one of the water tramps....it was sinking. One of the staff members came and told me to notify the guests to just use the other trampoline in the meantime and that they were sorry for the inconvenience. The Monday following our event, I learned form our legal dept. that the island staff contacted them for reimbursement of the water trampoline and paddle boat (which they were claiming sunk too). They claimed that our guests removed the air valve on the tramp and that kids intentionally sunk the paddle boat while their parents watched. I know our staff and their families very well and know that they would never act like that and they would not allow their children to act like that. This is just a bold face lie but even on the outside chance that it was true, not one island employee said anything to us about any inappropriate behavior. If we had known, we would've immediately talked to all that were involved and put a stop to that behavior. Personally, I believe that Island Promotions saw a large corporation with money in their pockets and thought that they might have found a way to buy new equipment at the expense of someone else. This makes me very sad that they decided to handle this matter so greedily. Our company had so enjoyed our summer picnics out there but we will never go back.
