Bike parking only
Travis B.

For my first mobile review, why not a place that encourages being on the go? The bike hut is amazing. Run on the honor system by the local farm they provide water, cocoa, coffee, and tons of yummy snacks for cyclists refueling before the tunitas creek climb. They also have some tools, tubes, a pump and a port a potty. Great rest stop in this otherwise deserted, but beautiful area of the peninsula. Cyclists only I presume, certainly true of the parking, though I think you can get some farm fresh produce there as well.

I can't believe this place exists. I just discovered The Bike Hut yesterday, and I've already told a dozen people about it. They have everything a cyclist needs, from snacks and water to bike parts and tools, all in this little hut in the middle of nowhere. The honor system cash box took this little gem over the top. Community is back.

Decided to try some back country bicycling after seeing the picturesque view of The Bike Hut and its quaint charm... Who would have thunk the honor system could persevere.. I was quite surprised when we rolled up for a break. Nice selection of energy boosting items and refreshments' there are a couple picnic tables with benches around the side of the hut that offer privacy from passersby as well as seating out front. Overall just a perfect re-charging area... I would like to say Thank You to those that manage,

Front! Can't miss it

Absolutely excellent!!! Offers tons of snacks inside, including water. So great for the upcoming trek climbing Tunitas. I love it!

Legit. Tunitas Creek base, ready to do 9 miles of climbing. Great rest stop, even a picnic table area. Could use some canopy raising (beautiful trees), but gorgeous setup, thank you Bike Hut for providing such a remote location haven.

:) are they from the chickens across the street?

Glad they had the porta potty, I donated my 50 cents for using it. Cleanest bathroom ever, thank you!

(over a year, actually) And the ADA Bathroom Stall is unusable to anyone who needs to use it because there is NO DOOR. It's gone missing. How does that happen? Anyhow, one would normally think that it is a violation to have no usable ADA accessible restroom stall ... however in today's time, 2025, is it possible that the Americans with Disabilities Act has been defenestrated? (They rarely open the women's restroom on the lift side; door is always closed/locked. This restroom has more functional toilets.... but it is rarely open for use. Like 99.9% of the time, the cleaner & more functional left side women's restroom is closed.) Problems in the right side women's restroom include : -- Only 1 fully working stall out of 5 stalls total. -- No usable ADA accessible restroom stall. -- 1st stall is unusable : closed "out of order" (closed for many months). -- 2nd stall is unusable : has missing toilet seat & the door does not lock. -- 3rd stall is unusable : closed "out of order" (closed for many months). -- 4th stall has working toilet & the door locks. -- 5th stall is unusable (large ADA stall) : has NO DOOR. In summary : Only 1 working toilet stall out of 5. Four out of five stalls are not fully functional (including the ADA stall). So the weird thing is that this rest area had been closed for a few weeks during the last month or two. After it reopened , NONE of the issues in the women's restroom were resolved. What did they do during all that time it was closed and blocked off to cars? .

Maybe they just wasn't business for that. That's fine. But the bathrooms. I've been coming here for years when I'm driving by and need to use the bathroom and stuff is out of order for months and months and even years either a faucet doesn't work. One of the urinals now is out of order and has been for months. The hand dryers don't work and when they don't work, it will be a year or two. Maintenance is pretty bad.

I'm not a fan of all that switching of freeways and all that traffic. I've driven it before, but if he's with me he takes over. In my mind I drive halfway. As I said this is our stop. It has everything we need. Plenty of parking. It's always a busy stop but never jammed packed. The truck park on the straight away while the cars park in the lot. The rest stop has two sets of bathrooms. Two for men and two for women and a unisex bathroom . There is always a free stall. This time I walked into the bathroom on the right and a pigeon greeted me so I exited as I didn't want an audience as I did my business. The bathroom on the left was a mess. Either 5 stalls didn't flush or the toilets were backed up. I choose the 6th stall and went in piece. They had 4 rolls of toilet paper. Two were brand new but hard to unravel. One roll was empty and the last had just enough toilet paper for my needs. The rest stop also has picnic benches and a grassy area for kids to run around on, or as a public toilet for your furry friends. If you need a stop I highly suggest this stop.

Luckily, people were coming and going constantly. So we were able to get a parking spot right by the welcome center. Once you park you have to pay for how long you intend to park there. We thought we would need only 45 minutes, which worked out perfectly. It was a little over $3 for 45 minutes. The welcome center is big inside and offers information about the bridge's history, science, and engineering through displays, photo's and videos. They sell tons of souvenirs all related to the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco. I found a nice navy blue zip-up hoodie that I bought for myself. Checkout was fast and easy and all the employees were very nice and helpful. You can get a lot of nice photos, outside, of the Golden Gate Bridge. We took a few selfies. There is a coffee shop called the round house cafe across from the welcome center that sells coffee, beverages and food. There are also public restrooms available there. It was a beautiful day to be out there. The view of the bridge was so clear and beautiful.

Lol since my sister-in-law was visiting from Florida, we decided to do the tourist thing and take her to other iconic places in San Francisco!! There's a day pass parking spot. You can get a lot of people end up getting dropped off by Uber or to buses. Since there were three of us, my boyfriend stayed in the car as we walked around and took pictures! Then we rotated so we didn't have to pay for the parking pass. Lol. We never went in the gift shop so I never looked, but I could see from the outside. They had a lot of the iconic San Francisco paraphernalia along with books and historical references and kids toys and items for purchase. The view was really nice and there's a cool lookout spot where if you can get the angle right it looks like you're on top of the cloud. We waited in line to take the pictures we have of the bridge, everybody was really polite as they all waited in little groups behind and lined up down the walkway. Lol granted there were some influencers around and they spent about five minutes, taking poses and doing dances in front of us, but I guess that's what they do for the gram?! Hee

The lake nearby is called Lake El Estero, and is surrounded by El Estero Park. Located within the park is the famous Dennis the Menace park. El Estero Boating is located on the shore of the lake opposite Dennis the Menace Park and is where you can rent a paddle boat. What's nice is from the visitors center you can see both the paddle boat area and the Dennis the Menace Park so you can easily map out, and plan your day. With so much to see and do in Monterey I can see why at times it could be overwhelming to a person visiting the area. So this place is designed for a visitor who just doesn't know where to start. We did not go inside the building but I enjoyed the scenery behind the building. The Monterey County Visitors Bureau provides you with all the information you need about visiting the Monterey Peninsula. They have information on individual attractions, hotels, and restaurants. I heard they sometimes have coupons available too. The staff is there to provide guidance and give directions to locations throughout Monterey County. They are open daily from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. They are closed on major Holidays such as Thanksgiving, December 25, January 1 and Easter Sunday. I can see how a family can easily spend a pleasant day at the park surrounding Lake El Estero. There were plenty of geese, seagulls, and ducks swimming around in harmony. We were only there a short while but there is a walking path that goes entirely around the lake. Along the walking path there is a unique exercise course with equipment and instructions. Plenty of benches and grass to have a little picnic. Just be aware that the birds can be a bit aggressive and I believe you are not permitted to feed them by law. There is a dog park and I believe there is also a skate park for skateboarders. Dennis the Menace park has always been a favorite with the kids with their one-of-a-kind fun playground equipment. Admission is free however the paddle boating rentals do have a fee. The last time I checked you can rent a paddle boat for a half an hour or an hour. In conclusion, if you are a visitor of the Monterey Peninsula, and are not sure where to go, this is the perfect place for you!

It's sort of upscale English/Americana Country Chic with many thoughtful features with the guest in mind. I immediately felt at home: it was quiet, the energy was blissful and we had two great nights. The room was soothing, large, full of awesome reading material and no distractions from outside or the room next door. My man is a vegetarian and we came with a cooler full of eating options. We didn't know, but the room comes well-stocked with Peet's (YES PEET'S!) coffee and Tazo teas. We didn't need our hastily packed paper plates, cups or utensils, because real china, silverware and many other little snacks were provided (free of charge). What a find! For those of your picky Yelpers, there is no "breakfast" at this B&B, but instead they leave you with nice biscuits/scones to accompany your free coffee or tea. You are within one block of the entire downtown Pescadero town, and naturally, you probably want to eat at Duarte's anyway. I believe it has a 2 night minimum for one room at $98/night, other arrangements, see website or call Lisa. I will definitely be back, and after checking into the other B&B's available in Pescadero, that this is the best priced, more welcoming place from Marin to Silicon! ~ Ms. Ali
