The cuppa was lovely, with a great slice of millionaires shortbread, the perfect size for two to share. Second up for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised! Sitting outside in the sea breeze (read it was really windy), we were sheltered by the metal surrounded bench seating, which is probably one of the best things the pier folk have ever thought of, allowing you to sit outside and forget about the weather. The menu is simple and I quickly decided on the goats cheese and caramelised onion pizza, which I shared with the other half; it arrived in good time, with an additional plate - when placing the order, my dad was asked how many people would be sharing each pizza, a clever touch, showing that they recognise what people might want. The cake display outside is inviting, with hand written brown label price tags and a variety of different sized cake stands. You're faced with amaretto chocolate cupcakes topped with edible gold, huge praline meringues, and slabs of brownies. Stepping inside, it feels a touch chaotic, but it sort of (sort of) adds to the charm. We visited on two occasions - naughty - and had a raspberry bakewell slice, pecan nut brownie, the aforementioned chocolate cupcake, and a huge slice of sponge cake with raspberries and limoncello sauce. Service on the first visit was much quicker than the second; our cakes were selected, popped into a white box and stickered ready for us to go on our merry way. Our second visit and there was only one person behind the counter, doing his best but struggling slightly under the demand! I hope that Two Magpies doesn't fly away too soon; Southwold is changing in many respects and, as long as the prices don't shoot up much further, I think they've found a good niche to sit in.

The staff were very friendly and very attentive. For start we all had the soup which was flavoursome, home made and accompanied by some wonderful salt crusted home made bread. My other half and my father enjoyed the beer battered cod and chips which they both managed to polish off with some gusto. My dad and I were too full for dessert but my partner and mother enjoyed the Bread and Butter pudding which was caramelised (ala Creme Brûlée) and served with a vintage marmalade ice cream. The shop is one of the most standout things in Southwold; glass and light wood make up the exterior, and inside it's vast and full of light. Here you can buy everything Adnams makes, and more - gin, oak aged vodka, sloe gin, broadside whiskey, a range of beers, glasses, tshirts, tea towels and more. You can take part in some tasting towards the back of the shop, or have a coffee and piece of cake in the cafe at the back. New products available include ginger beer and Fat Sprat beer. If you take part in the tour, you're presented with a 10% discount, leading to us walking away with some sloe gin. Apparentley it's great with prosecco - who knew? The checkout staff were lovely, even giving us some baking tips, and you always walk away with a smile on your face. A must do in Southwold!
