The hotel is old and historic and does have cool old decor and a fun haunted feel. Walkable to plenty of other places. Restaurant Fantastic service. They have indoor and outdoor patio seating. The outside area had live music which sounded good but we opted to eat inside. The food was actually really good. Speakeasy Fun vibe with great bartenders. Rave reviews about the historic Blennerhassett Hotel! From driving up to the entrance and one hour parking to be able to sign in and unload luggage before parking is great! The hotel is magnificently decorated! the high ceilings and old style check in desk. The clerk on duty was so sweet and informative and helpful. Our room was fabulous. As was the walk to it. through the halls with the dark mahogany doors decorated with wreaths for Christmas. Both beds were meticulously made up and the mattress was so comfortable. I didn't feel like I was at a hotel. The bathroom has a very nicel tile shower and plenty of hot water that you can fine tune hotter if you wish! The room was very clean! The linens on the bed were very crisp and comfy! Let's talk about the restaurant and food! 10 stars! They made a fresh pot of decaf for me! It was delicious! The food is wonderful. I did not do breakfast but my daughter did and said everything was perfect! We did do dinner and our server, Scott...I think that was his name made the dining and experience and added to the ambiance! There were 3 of us. We all had the She crab soup...it was piping hot and very good and creeamy! We each ordered a different item for our dinner. I had the appetizer of Wagyu beef and mushrooms on crostini. It was absolutely delicious and had a fine taste that lingered. I only wished it had a little more meat and mushrooms. My daughter had the beet salad and was very pleased. She added salmon on it and again was very pleased with its preparation. My son had the Shrimp and Grits that were prepared as he liked. it was a very generous portion and was also piping g hot. While we didn't do dessert we did see the lemon meringue pie and it was beautiful with meringue piled high! I must add there was a musician that played clarinet and also piano...wow...just like in the movies! loved it! We ventured down to the 1889 Lounge and speakeasy. unique phone to call in and get a code to enter the room which was dimly lit and had shelves of spirits. The bartender was very engaged with every patron! the decor was very old times and someone was even playing the upright piano! The Christmas Tree Festival was an added bonus to see. I asked for 5 scallops w sauce because the last time I was here, the sauce was fantastic. The scallops were served w something like tarter sauce. We were not impressed. My mom liked her Brussels sprouts. I liked my asparagus. My daughter thought the mushrooms were ok. My dad said his coleslaw was disgusting. I would like more gouda in my gouda grits. My daughter did not care for the crab appetizer. She said it needed some sort of sauce or spice. I thought the ribeye tasted more like a sirloin. It was chewy and not marbled. My dad said his catch of the day was ok. We all loved the sparkling Moscato peach wine. We ordered the cheesecake, but it wasn't ready so we had no dessert. We stayed last Friday night at the Blennerhassett Hotel and had dinner in the dining room. The hotel is charming, rooms are clean, bed is comfortable. Furniture is dated but that is part of the charm. The bathrooms were recently renovated. 4 stars for the hotel for charm. The lobby smells like wet dog, so we didn't spend much time there. Next time in Parkersburg, I'll stay at another hotel. The dining room was a big disappointment. Their prices are quite high $$$$$ even by San Francisco Bay Area standards. We expected so much more. The highlights, French onion soup and the Raspberry bourbon cocktail. The house old fashion was horrible, tasted like a sangria. Had to return it. The beet salad was like a standard house salad with pickeled red beets and boiled yellow beets with chopped orange slices with a balsamic vinaigrette, not very tasty. The $49 rib eye cap was not enjoyable. Not a good cut of meet, tough and not seasoned. I recommend you cross the street and walk another 30 feet to Huffmans Steak house. I know this review seems harsh but for the price of their entrees, salads, soups and cocktails, they sincerely should improve the quality of the food. The service was good. read more

We stayed at the Historic Blennerhasset for 4 nights and thought it was a lovely experience. The staff must go through some customer service training because they were all top notch. From the front desk, the restaurant, the bar, the wait staff, and behind the scenes staff, it was all good! I needed a refrigerator one evening so I stopped by the front desk to request one. Normally it takes some time but the staff with my fridge was on my elevator as I went to my room. The rooms were clean and very comfortable, the beds and towels refreshed every day, no complaints!! Live music on Friday evening In the lounge and the place was quite lively due to a wedding party! The only disappointment was I inquired about a facial online with the spa within the hotel and never got a response. I'm not sure if that's part of the hotel or not. Arrived today with a 4:15 reservation, and was promptly seated after our table was prepared. Had the mini beef wellington while they prepared our she crab soup and caesar salad. All 3 were wonderful. Our delmonico steak at medium rare and Chilean sea bass were superb. The sides I chose were the loaded baked potato, sautéed mushrooms, lime asparagus, and the bacon fried Brussel sprouts with sautéed onion. Collectively, the dinner was outstanding, the service was top notch, and the atmosphere was spot on. We will most definitely return for another wonderful experience. Usually a fun experience. I have called at least 8-10 times regarding a stay and restaurant experience. We stayed at Blennerhassett hotel a number of times before with great experiences. I booked a room snd coordinated with chef/kitchen for a prime rib dinner and crème Bree with special cake snd writing on cake. I had confirmed this a week before visit and day before. When we arrived they did not have any of the above Waiter was very gracious and tried to make up for this but I was not happy. The management staff apologized and said they would be reaching out to me to send us a free dinner and stay. This was on July 3 and almost 2 months have passed even after repeated phone calls no response. After trying to resolve the manager called me and threatened me with the police. read more

There's a fine line between "historic" and just plain old and outdated. The blennerhassett is just old. They lean heavily on the fact that they're historic and "haunted" to get away with never updating anything. Does being historic mean you can't use a bit of air freshener? Nothing like it used to be. The quality has went downhill massively since it has been sold to the new owner(s). The Sunday brunch is a pathetic shell of what it once was. At most there is a third of the variety of the menu and the quality has dropped to less than a quarter of what it used to be, meanwhile the price rose. read more

Wonderful dinner at The Blennerhasset tonight! Starting with Manhattan Sidecars made by Randy, our bartender, we enjoyed the sweet/tart flavor married with filthy cherries. Oysters Rockefeller arrived on a bed of black salt and was as lovely to look at as it was delicious. We enjoyed grilled Mahi Mahi with a delightful sauce over citrus risotto with sautéed vegetables and blackened scallops with bourbon bacon jam on smoked Gouda grits. Both entrees impressed us with their flavor and their presentation. For dessert, we enjoyed a beautifully delicious praline tulip and a crème brûlée that was expertly prepared! Alex, our waiter, elevated our experience with his professional and gracious demeanor, always thoughtful in his timing and attention to detail! We will be back! read more

A work trip back to Parkersburg, WV led me here. The style of lodging was renaissance-like with a colonial type of flair. Figured I'd check it out after staying at Marriotts the majority of the time. The design of everything is classic and traditional. Not sure I was feeling it since I'm more modern with my hotels. Also if you want a fridge, you have to request one for your room which they will add. Perks included having a hotel bar and Brunello restaurant downstairs along with a coffee bar avail in he mornings. The bar does close at 10 on weeknights which is weak. Hotel bars should be open until at least 11 on weeknights. Would make staying in a city like PKG more bearable. Silver lining is the polite and friendly front desk. They've helped me with email and hotel keys when not working so I'm grateful for their efforts. read more

Last minute switch up.....heading to a family reunion and decided to cancel my hotel reservation in New Martinsville and booked the Blennerhassett in Parkersburg. Let me say...just wow...from the moment we pulled up, top notch service all around. We were greeted by Jimmy & Mike handling valet and luggage. Mike ushered us to check in and made sure we were promptly assisted. After we checked in we waited outside where they both proceeded to give us a history lesson if the hotel and nearby attractions. We got suggestions for dinner/breakfast all while unloading the car! Mike took our vehicle and Jimmy escorted us to our room. Such a great experience before we even had a chance to get into our room. After unwinding we decided to stick with our hotel restaurant reservations and I am so glad we did. We sat outside, which at first I was apprehensive about after a 9hr car ride! It was glorious, there was a live band, fans blowing, the most beautiful landscape and to top it all off theeee greatest server named Adrienne. She knew the drink and food menu top to bottom. She gave great suggestions for drinks and had the most pleasant, upbeat, sincere personality. She was such a fun server, had us laughing every time she came to the table. Her service at dinner was absolutely the cherry in top of this very hastily changed reservation. Food was delicious and we devoured every bite, even took dessert with us to our room. I kept saying to my boyfriend, " I'm so happy I booked this hotel". You won't regret this hotel, everything about it was stellar! read more

What a beautiful property, the staff was courteous, and helpful. The whole place was clean and neat, bed was comfortable, great shower pressure. We had drinks at the bar which were great and had dinner in the dining room, although the menu is limited the food was wonderful . Plenty of parking and interesting places within walking distance. Only fail was breakfast, the dining room wasn't open so they offered a voucher for breakfast ,muffins and scones ,coffee and orange juice only options and ended up charging us for large coffee and orange juice. Need to work on this . But nearby places Really wish we would of had more time to spend here. Will absolutely make an effort to return!! read more

Have stayed twice at this historic boutique hotel for the location and the service. This is a cool place. The rooms are of varying sizes. Amenities include robes, umbrella, extra towels, Wi-Fi, and coffee/tea in room. There's are sitting lounges around the building to relax, read or wait. Pictures of the building from long ago are on the second floor. JFK stayed here and his suite is available. We came here last fall for a class reunion, and the set-up and event room were great. The bar, the restaurant and the fabulous patio are welcoming, and we heard live music. A tent room is available for special events. "Spa" has been added to the name. You'll need to ask about that, as I did not use the spa. The paddle wheel boat to Blennerhassett Island and the museum are within walking distance. Up the street is a wine bar and brewery. Come and relax. We like this place. On this weekend the price was less than the local Hampton Inn. read more

Beautiful old haunted, historic hotel downtown Parkersburg. While there isn't much around downtown, it is still quite a lovely standout. Parking is tight, especially because there was a wedding going on when I was there. Rooms are small, but clean and nice. The breakfast was pretty good, with omlettes cooked to order. I took mine outside into the beautifully manicured courtyard area. It says they serve Starbucks, but anything I've gotten there is 19 times better than anything I've had at Starbucks. Off the coffee bar they have a little library area to sit and enjoy your coffee. Absolutely gorgeous hotel. I Did not expect this level of sophistication for this area. The refinished furniture and decorative pieces are so pretty. Clean and classy with a vintage feel. Starbucks inside as well as a full restaurant and bar available. The restaurant has an outdoor courtyard where you can eat or just linger for drinks that is beautifully landscaped and well maintained. The rooms are large and come fully stocked with lots of extra towels, which is a surprisingly small but important luxury! The bed was probably one of the softest I've ever been in, it was incredible. So, so comfortable. Check in was also one of the fastest I've ever had- this hotel beat my last check in at a Hilton by a whopping 25 minutes. read more

Very few hotel options in the Parkersburg town area. But this place is centrally located in the middle of the city and for those conducting business with BFS this is the place to stay as you are in walking distance to their buildings. The Staff immediately greeted me when I walked in. They provide you free outside parking on the side of the hotel (you just have to provide the vitals for your car). The rooms are spacious (for one person) with a nice sized bathroom. Rooms come with a Keurig coffee maker and they keep you stocked with coffee (reg/decaf) and tea. Alice (Staff Member) came to my door early evening to see if I wanted my ice bin filled (how nice is that?). My bed was always made after I checked in and they kept my room clean and tidy during the day. The hotel has a great restuarant and bar. The bar common area has a large sitting area with comfortable chairs and large tables if you want to sit and hang out or work on your laptop (hotel wifi is available). The first floor has one of the few Starbucks in town. Lines are not that long during the day but a little long in the morning as people flock here for their morning java fix. Hotel has a nice workout facility with lots of stationary bikes, treadmill, elipticals, and free weights. Lastly the room comes wih an umbrella (see my pic) in case you forget yours. All on all, a great hotel. If you are coming to Parkersburg, WV, I recommend this hotel to stay at. You are also close to many restaurants and small cafes. read more

A gorgeous classic hotel on the outside that sadly suffers from inattentive service and the need for a refresh on the inside. The bartenders have no idea what beers and bourbons are available in their own bar. Our waiter seemed like he wanted to be somewhere else and was even a bit sarcastic toward the end of our meal. Front desk staff barely acknowledged our presence when we checked in. To make up for a restaurant that no longer opens for breakfast, credits for the Blennerhassett's cafe were offered, but when morning came the cafe staff didn't show up for work, and the front desk staff made no attempt to offer us any food from the boxes of pastries delivered earlier (the coffee in the lobby was terrible too...undrinkable brown mop water served cold). This place is stunning. The Courtyard outside was so peaceful and gorgeous. The atmosphere and original decor is stunning. The rooms are huge and comfortable. I had dinner in the courtyard. Our server Scotty was phenomenal. We had fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. The entrees were crab cakes and salmon pasta. I stayed and worked and had coffee and crime brûlée. Let me tell you that must have the crime brûlée. It was my 1st time in the area and it was a nice change from my traditional Marriott. I look forward to coming back. read more

This could easily be the nicest place to eat and drink in the area if it weren't for the untrained staff and the cheap cost cutting measures we experienced two Sundays ago. Sunday evening on the patio: Q: Can we get a bread basket? Server: No, there is no bread service today. Q: You have 2 seafood, one "market price" steak and another overpriced obscure item. Is that it? Server: You can order a salad if you want. Q: Asked server what the brown celery and radishes in a bowl were. Server "Crudités ". LOL still laughing about that grim .39 cent offering. Q: Do you still have the beer from Elkins, WV on tap.....it's blonde something I think. Server: I don't know but maybe there is a list I can get you. Time to pay the bill: Server yanks our unfinished food and then makes change leaving no broken bills for gratuity. We had to ask her to break more Bills down. She clearly had no idea what she was doing. Wrap up here is that the potential is here. The food is cheaply done and pretty narrow in terms of offerings. No burgers; no decent appetizers and brown produce. Train your staff. If you can't provide a wider menu then maybe don't open up. Liquor sales are essential- your staff doesn't even try to sell BECAUSE a they have no idea how to and they don't even know what you have on tap. Lost profit. Time to get busy and I really hope you improve. This is a real gem. read more

After a 100$ Visit and an unpleasant dining experience back in September of '21. Dinner for 3, two entrees appeared ( one was calamari) when 3rd meal finally showed up ( 30 minutes later) we had to have them warm our first two meals. They nuked the calamari and it was then rubbery. We explained our experience to Nick a manager. He said he was sorry for our experience and that next time we come in they would " take care of us". It's now June we make reservations and explained our experience to John another manager. He came off with " that's not how we do things here so that's not possible" calling us a liar. We went anyway, spoke to Nick again, who then said " we will comp your desserts for any inconvenience" I was appalled. OUR meals should have been comped at the very least. Our bill this time was $300. All this was authorized by Shari who said that she had spoken to us and we'd agreed on dessert as a compensation (Neither my husband or I spoke to her). I will NEVER go back and I WILL be spreading the word this place is a sham/scam and doesn't even have the integrity to stand behind their service!! Totally unacceptable!!
