After fighting to get a table (no in winter I do not choose to eat on the bench outside) we got the hostess to understand that a table in 30 minutes was a better response than no table at all. The food was so worth it! The starter of Crab Bisque was divine. The fish special paice on a bed of spinach and crushed Jersey Royal was just melt in your mouth good. My partner's starter did not live to the tempura expectations, but his garlic lobster was to die for! A nice crisp South African Chardonnay to accompany the meal was all that was required. Did not reach for the Tabasco once as the flavors were just divine. Had to top it off with some Jersey soft serve ice-cream! This is what a good meal is all about. I wasn't expecting much because it was a very reasonably priced hotel but the room was excellent…read more It was extremely clean with some nice furniture. The breakfast is also very good, with a great choice, despite having to ask for a few dirty cups to be changed. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the town centre so it's great even without own transport. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, although we had no real cause to call upon them. The car park is very small and tight, so it is often difficult to park. Unfortunately the 'free wireless' had zero reception in the hotel room and even in the hotel bar I could get connected but not through to the Internet. Although there are small flat TVs in the rooms, the channel selection is limited to the main terrestrial channels and a slim choice of others. Although the bathroom was clean, the hotel towels are miniscule and the thread count is almost zero. The shower suffered from an extreme lack of pressure and went cold every time somebody flushed a toilet anywhere in the hotel! Our room was at the rear of the hotel and because there was no air conditioning, we had the window open, which was very noisy in the morning because it was adjacent to a supermarket. Overall, despite the minor negative points, we'd definitely stay again because of the cleanliness, good food and good service at a very good price.

The daily specials menu on the wall was not filled out. Cardboard packaging of glasses piled up again the wall. An A4 size printer on a shelf on the wall (for whatever reason). A cheap looking Venice painting on the wall. French-wine wallpaper (why French in an Italian restaurant?). Red britisch pub style carpet. When walking inside the first impression is that of stagnant air, perhaps sweaty body smell is a good discription. The staff was super friendly though. That's what makes it two stars rather then two. Also, I was told some of the vegetables are home grown on the island.
