FAB! For brekkie. Lovely food & service people all friendly. Lots of selections and they open @ 7 am serve Brekkie till noon, then switch to lunch menu. Lunch also GOOD! Really a pretty place comfy beach like atmosphere and clean, very clean which is a HUGE + for us!!' Walked over from Manly about 30 min door 2 door, which is an added bonus watching the morning surfers & swimmers. Been to the Boathouse years before when it was La Kiosk don't remember it looking this good ~

Incredible beach side cafe in the perfect corner of the sand and boardwalk across to Manly Beach! We got the perfect table outside with an umbrella on this warm day! Started with a bucket of local beer and ordered fish and chips, a burger and the salmon salad! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu here! I tasted all three but really loved the Smoked salmon! Probably the best I've ever had! Perfect Smokey taste then it's grilled and placed on top over a bed delightful greens, edamame, and pomegranate seeds! Beautiful to look at and incredible explosion on your palette!! The burger looked bomb too as it's got grilled pineapple, special sauce, and bacon on top of the beef! Are you hungry yet? I would love to come here again!!

Avocado, tomato, feta, basil with lemon on toast was worth the walk! Of course the walk here is so nice!

This place has to be one of my all-time favorite places the Decour and the detail not even to begin with the food was outstanding. The cappuccino was absolutely beautiful . I had the poached egg which was cooked perfectly and arranged beautifully. I managed to slip in a bite of their banana bread which was out of this world. I highly recommend this place for breakfast I wish I could give it 10 stars it was that good

If you're debating to stop and eat somewhere in Manly or in Shelly Beach, definitely check out The Boathouse in Shelly Beach!! Cute spot to hang on the beach and there's a rainforest like garden behind the restaurant. It was such a lovely place to relax and have a drink while hanging on the beach. The staff was super nice and lovely as well. Would highly recommend checking this place out!!

Awesome lunch or breakfast spot at Shelly beach. The service is great and the food is on the lighter/healthier side. I really enjoyed the beet root salad today. They have a nice selection of cocktails, wine and beer too!

Quinoa Bircher with Greek yoghurt - $13, with option for coconut yoghurt.
    Sarah L.

Absolutely delicious! We had the quinoa Bircher from the kiosk, for $13 I thought a little steep for a takeaway breakfast, but it was huge! It was also amazing. The actual Bircher was crazy yummy, then fruit, Greek yoghurt (or coconut yoghurt if you choose), and dried fruit! There was even a fig, it was one of the best breakfasts I have had in a while! The service was great, friendly and prompt. The location is lovely, plenty of benches to eat at when you get takeaway. This was 8:30am on a Friday, so no one in line and very quick service. Walk around from manly beach for a nice stroll.

Lovely setting, food and service. Hard not to love. Get the avo tomatoes and goats cheese toast. Amazingly simple yet very delicious. Get in early to make sure you get prime table. Otherwise bring your hats, sunnies, and sunscreen if you're coming in the summer. Some tables can be under direct sun!

Not sure what everyone is complaining about, I enjoyed myself at this restaurant!! Beware that just cause they're open till 4, they stop serving food at 3!!!!! I was lucky enough to be the very last order. Shelly Beach is adorable and worth visiting. The boathouse is prime location for people watching on this beach! There are wild turkeys walking on the beach. People are scuba diving, snorkeling, laying out, hula dancing, surfing, etc. This restaurant is adorable!! The food was decent enough, I ordered the market fish which was barramundi in an interesting almond spicy sauce with vegetables. I enjoyed some wine and spoke to the people next to me, it was a lovely atmosphere overall and the service was outstanding for me!

Best granola I have ever had!
    Jessica T.

Unbelievable breakfast. Simple preparations done excellently. We had the poached eggs on toast and they were perfectly done, with thick rustic bread slices. The granola was better than any other I have had. Crispy bits of buckwheat, chopped nuts, bits of crunchy goodness (magic?) and topped with edible flowers. Can't beat the location either!!

Amazing location on the beach, garden tables with a waterfall and beach front tables. Nice upstairs dining roim too. Think Doyles but nicer food

Amazing kale salad with nuts, sweet potatoes, pomegranate and salmon.

Fantastic beach front restaurant. Nice hamburgers and fries. Nice kale salad with salmon. My husband and I truly enjoyed it. Watch out for the mascots. They're so cute.

Their menu is considered modern Australian with an Italian flair, which is an interesting fusion of cuisines. They have tapas, entrees (appetizer size), mains (larger portions) and sides, which can be shared amongst the table or paired with a main to make for a more filling meal. + GRILLED TASMANIAN OCTOPUS (A$28): The four of us shared this and it turned out to be a tantalizing appetizer! Three meaty tentacles and one flat piece were served on top of n'duja (spreadable pork sausage) with pipes of lime confit on the side. This was my first time having n'duja, which had a smoky flavor from Calabrian chilis that paired well with the grilled taste of the tender octopus. The lime brightened up the dish with citrusy notes. + SEAWEED PRAWN PILLOWS (A$22): While tasty, if I tasted these blindly, I probably wouldn't think of shrimp and seaweed being the two main ingredients. The shrimp and seaweed were finely minced and made into a batter which was then fried into a fritter. They were crispy and light with a soft mochi-like texture inside. Salt on the plate enhanced the flavor even more. + SNAPPER FILLET (A$44): The snapper was delicate, moist and had a wonderfully seared skin. It came topped with a few zucchini blossoms, but that was the extent of the dish, so I'd recommend ordering a side with this. It was placed on a pool of creamy white sauce (which may have incorporated Jerusalem artichoke as noted on the menu) and dollops of black garlic sauce came on top. Unfortunately, I didn't care for the black garlic which had a very earthy flavor that I found too strong and off-putting for the mild fish. The four of us shared a side of BROCCOLINI (A$14) which was a great pairing with all of our mains. It tasted super fresh since the stems still had a nice snap to them. They were simply tossed with extra virgin olive oil, sliced almonds and chili for a hint of heat. My dad enjoyed their spatchcocked chicken and my sister was happy with her sirloin steak. The steak was cooked more than the medium that she requested, but it was still delicious and had a zesty salsa verde. Overall, we had a lovely lunch here. Our meals were wholesome and I could tell that everything was fresh and of pristine quality. This restaurant is right on the beach, so we enjoyed a direct view of the water, giving this spot a beachy vibe with casual elegance.

You definitely grade staff on a curve when you're rating a busy place! The guy running the counter at the time came to us with a smile and asked what we wanted, but we said we weren't ready and so he said no prob and went back to the kitchen instead of asking if we had any questions. If the place hadn't been super busy, I might have been annoyed but the place was very busy so it made sense. They have an easy numbering system. Your receipt has an order number, and they simply call it out when it's done. You have to stay fairly close to the counter after ordering. However, the place is so tiny inside that you can still hear the numbers from the door. I woke up that day feeling a bit hungover. I think the first words out of my mouth were "I need a hash brown, stat." Several hours later, when we went to Benbry, fate struck and I saw that they had a hangover burger! Amazing. It was actually a veggie option, with no burger. It had an egg, guacamole, aioli, cheese, BBQ sauce... and a hash brown! It was 100% fate. I had no idea if it would taste good, but obviously I needed it in my life that day. Thankfully, it did taste good. My guy got the classic Benbry and said it was good too. As a carb lover, I loved the bun especially as it was nice and large, and a good combo of fluffy and sturdy. My guy opted for the combo, and ordered a side of onion rings. We were not fans, and only ate half of them. They were fried well, and super crunchy. But they were very battery and oily, without really any onion flavor. I highly recommend this place for takeaway! There are only two small tables outside, one table inside right by the kitchen and about two or three bar stools near a ledge to eat by. We were only able to eat in by sharing the inside table with another pair. I would definitely come back though, especially when hungover. I would definitely try to come on a Tuesday/Thursday for their $12 combo deal.

Fire and Ice Manly is one of those restaurants where you could absolutely sit there all afternoon,…read moreand well into the evening for many reasons. 1) The food is amazing 2) The staff are delightful 3) The view is incredible We went on an early evening one Saturday night are were greeted with quite possibly the nicest staff you'll ever meet. Sharon and David, the owners have been in the restaurant industry since their teens and have owned and run a few steakhouses in their time. They previously owned Ribs and Burgers for 18 years. They have since opened Fire and Ice, an ocean front restaurant in Manly with a concept serving raw meats, smoked meats, grilled meats and plenty of seafood. David knows his stuff, and certainly knows his meats. We took his advice and went for a 400g dry aged steak, served with fries and salad. The steak was incredible and cooked to our request. Having just returned from Argentina, we feel that we do know our steaks. We would certainly recommend a visit here for their meat. Top this off with a glass of red and you're set. We couldn't go past seafood on this visit, given we were at a beachside location. We ordered tuna tataki, so fresh and accompanied by a wasabi aioli and soy. The scallops were perfectly cooked, and the kingfish was so fresh and beautifully presented on a salt slab, marinated with lemon and lime, olive oil, chilli, capsicum, coriander and chives. The seafood here is quality and certainly a must and there's even a seafood platter that would be a great option for sharing. The menu is one of the biggest you'll find, not only in size, but the amount of menu options. Oysters to small bites, both hot and cold including a few dishes reflective of the owners' South African heritage. There are plenty of pastas, burgers, ribs and side salads to select from. There's also vegetarian options for those that prefer this. Steak though, is their specialty, as you enter you can see their aged locker of the beef options, and you can have fillet or sirloin on the bone, rib eye or a T-bone. You can read about the suppliers of this quality steak in the back of their menu. Sharon is possibly one of the best front of house managers we've met. She is so kind and welcoming and we really appreciated her hospitality. You can tell her experienced with the first greeting. There are some large and private areas too, so you could certainly hire this out for a party.

Great food. Great service. Staff is very willing to alter dishes to your liking. Ten thumbs upread more
