Well organized, pleasant store. I selected two paperback books in good condition and was shocked that my total was over $18. I said that was a lot for used books. She said they charge half of the original price. No way were these paperbacks pushing $20 new. I declined to purchase. I looked up the prices when I got home and NEW the books were in the $7-8 range. Such a cute shop! I'm really and sadly, not a reader. I read for college courses because I have/ had to, but overall I'm too hyper for reading. (When I do read, I enjoy self-help, spiritual, and astrology books). This shop is so appealing that even folks like me are inclined to WANT to read! Super nice (love the smell too!) staff. read more

Cute little bookstore! The staff is very friendly and the selection is good. Books are half off of list value and some credit can be earned from bringing in used paperbacks to trade. However, they don't accept hardcovers and even if you have enough credit to cover a book, you still have to pay $2.50 for it. read more

We went to find some books for the beach...the sign said you need an appt to "browse"! Then there was an unmarked spray bottle that we supposed to be used as hand sanitizer. I have NO PROBLEM using actual hand sanitizer prior to entering the store...but I will not use "mystery spray". Considering I have never seen spray hand sanitizer....I have no idea what it was. We entered only to be greeted as "you need to use the spray". I said do you have actual hand sanitizer (which was also on the counter), she said "that is what this is" and she proceeded to pick up the mystery bottle to spray us! We left! I'm not even sure we were going to be allowed to browse so the whole thing was a waste of time. Maybe she should consider a touch less sanitizer if she wants people to use it prior to entering the store...I certainly wasn't going to use a spray bottle that was not labeled and who knows how many other have used the bottle?? We went to a great used bookstore in Stone Harbor, owner was so helpful and we found 10 books for about $50! Worth the trip! read more

Found it this year,been there twice on vacation! Wonderful little place with great selection for beach reads!

I went here a year ago and found nothing to my interests. The books were very expensive despite that some of them were pre-owned. I'd suggest going to the St. Damian Thrift Shop that is no more than 0.35 miles away down Asbury avenue (right between the old school and Johnny B. Goode.) You cannot be guaranteed to find a book there as it is not a book shop but it certainly will be cheaper. read more

One of the highlights of our summer is visiting the Bookateria when we come to town. You never know what will be on the shelves and that's part of the adventure. This year we were able to share the experience with our child. I found two great books that I was able to purchase for 2 dollars and some change thanks to the exchange deal they offer. Also picked up two brand new board books for our son that we paid full price for but hadn't seen in other shops so we didn't mind. read more

What a find! This is a great used paperback store (though there were some new items priced at 15% off). All the used paperbacks were 50% off retail, or could be purchased at an additional discount with trades. Unlike some used bookstores that seem to have a heavy romance inventory, B2 had an assortment of more current trade paperbacks, biographies, nonfiction, literature, and even children's and young adult offerings. This place was a life saver. We came here for a trip and forgot some important children's books for our 2-year-old and she does not accept substitutes. They had the two exact books we forgot and made our trip much easier. It was an interesting mix of books and the prices were pretty reasonable. I absolutely love this store! I'm a local to OC so I get the pleasure of stopping in all throughout the year. The owner is very kind and helpful. They always have a great selection and because I trade in my paperbacks and get credit, I wind up spending a looooot less then going to Books A Million or Barnes and Noble and I get the same titles! I highly recommend this store for any bookworm like myself! read more
