Wen we arrived we were met by very friendly staff who showed us straight too our rooms. Rooms were pleasant and very clean. Bar prices were reasonably priced with great beer. On the nite was a great llive band on which seems too be every wk. We met the owner russ who was very nice and friendly. We had a great nite ghost hunting with ray who we have met on a number of occassions. He is very frindly and always makes us feel welcome wherever we might be. They had entertainment at the pub but it didn't go past 10 so no noise preventing a good nights sleep. The first evening we were dumb tourist and forgot to get pounds. The locals who frequented the pub were friendly and engaging. We would definitely return as the pub prices and room prices were excellent.

Even if the service had been adequate, the food was no better than average. But the service was atrocious: drinks were slammed down on the table; there was a large gap between the delivery of the mains and accompaniments; we waited an age for the table to be cleared; then a further 10min before the dessert menu was provided; then the staff ignored us whilst they cleaned and tidied the entire restaurant around us. Eventually we gave up and paid the bill. Even that they messed up, bringing only the drinks bill to the table; I had to ask for the food bill when I went to the bar to pay. I was sorely tempted to not to bring the mistake to their attention.
