My friend and I are not on the prowl, but while waiting for drinks were chatted up. Good crowd of young professionals who seem v open to meeting other people. I had to give it one star due to the Eggs Florentine being cooked. But needless to say, going there for breakfast was an utter waste of money. Pretentious staff wouldn't open the doors although it was 10minutes after opening time, they just ignored us. The menu differs in price to that online, and the dish arrived with nothing on the side. I was embarrassed for them. We popped in to Patisserie Valerie and saw how things are meant to be done, delicious, friendly, well priced with generous portions. I'll never go to 'The Botanist' again. Perhaps they should explore their brand name, giving up food and getting lost studying plant life somewhere remote. read more

A friend proposed that we had lunch at the Botanist. It was very easy to get there using the Underground. As soon as you come out of the station at Sloan Square, It's right there in front of you by the right. The menu has a wide variety from the simple to the exotic. You can choose from a home style seat around the window or your regular restaurant type seats. Service is good, food is good. Price is not bad. read more

I'm surprised this place doesn't have a higher rating! I thought this place was fantastic when I came here. It can be pricey but the atmosphere, service, and of course the plates make up for it! I went to this place with no previous plan to actually go, but me and my mates found ourselves in Sloan Square, after a big night out, starving for some carbohydrates, someone suggested we go to The Botanist, and boy was I in for a surprise. First the decor is amazing! The color scheme is so amazing; the lines of the furniture suggest art deco. They have a bar, which has a dinner like feel to it; only the prices of cocktails are anything but dinner style. As far as the food it was glorious, I recommend if you go on a Sunday to ask for the barbecue hamburger, it wasn't on the menu when I was there, but we saw it at another table and could not stop salivating. Also they have THE BEST Bloody Mary in London, perfect to sooth the soul. Service is impeccable, we had a lovely waitress, and they all seem to enjoy being there. Its a great place for Sunday Roast and to curb the crave for some wholesome food. read more

Going there on a Saturday night one should probably aim to arrive fairly early. Nice atmosphere and amazing cocktails. Also liked the effort everyone made in looking stunning. I suppose as a former East-Londoner that's what you notice when going out West. One really annoying thing was, however, that since not everybody was able to see, both the bar staff and all non-seaters had a hard time to not get into each other's way. The food here is very good. I've been to this place on my last two trips to London and would gladly go back. I went here once for afternoon tea (the desserts were delicious - try the chocolate brownie, yum!) and once for dinner before seeing a show in Sloane Square. The green garlic risotto is delicious and definitely worth ordering, I might have to get the recipe from them. I will absolutely be visiting this place again the next time I'm in London. read more

The dinner menu is pretty good, however the main draw to this restaurant are the deserts that it offers. Everything I've tried there was rich and tastefully prepared. It's worth coming back to especially if you have a sweet tooth. read more

This place I really loved! I can even remember being here 4 years ago in Late July or early August when I went to the British isles with my family during the Summer Olympics! I really love the hamburgers that they have there, and also the beautiful insect animal photos on the wall! We're probably not the easiest family to please in a restaurant. On top of the everyday chit chat we always discuss the food and service in minute detail. This Father's Day we ventured to the newly opened The Botanist on Sloane Square. It takes time for new establishments to settle into a routine; The Botanist only opened in May, a short month before our visit. But basic mistakes kept creeping in and with five sister restaurants I had expected the whole operation to be a bit slicker. The restaurant is located next to the recently renovated Sloane Square Hotel. It was a busy Sunday and customers were certainly crammed into the dining area, making our table of five slightly uncomfortable. The place has a clean feel to it with calming tones and a historical mural which ties in with the restaurant's name. So to the meal The ladies forwent starters, so it was left to my father, brother and myself to sample: Stilton and white onion tart with roast pears, steak tartar and globe artichoke, morel and baby spinach risotto. The tart pastry was perfect - crumbly, but solid enough to hold the very flavoursome stilton filling. I was disappointed with the pears which, served cold, seemed more raw than roasted, and didn't have the required sweetness to offset the stilton's saltiness. The risotto sounded wonderful, but the creaminess which typifies risottos was swapped for a thin bland sauce which drowned the rice. The steak tartar was the first sign of trouble with the service. First my brother was brought a stilton and onion tart - not what he had ordered. As my father and I tucked into our starters, and finished them, he was still waiting. Steak tartar doesn't require huge amounts of cooking. Yet when it arrived it was overcooked. Had it perhaps been sitting on the passe for a bit too long. Being a Sunday it was beef roasts for the lads and fishcakes for the ladies (not that fishcakes are particularly Sunday food!). The fishcakes were a good size but a little bland. The meat was beautifully pink and tender. The jus arrived in a wonderful little copper saucepan. The Yorkshire puddings were also scrumptious: crispy on the outside and light and fluffy inside. The vegetables however were underdone and the potatoes were far too salty and reminded me of those packet roast potatoes from the supermarket. After the waiter finished spilling water over the table, and forgetting to wipe it up, we ordered dessert. Tarte Tatin was excellent. The pastry once again perfect. Just the right amount of caramel too. The chocolate fondant just dreamy. And the Knickerbocker Glory was, well just like being a kid again. The cheese plate ended an average meal. The minute slivers of cheese presented an uninteresting selection. Slow service, a clumsy waiter and average food (the quality of the met was a surprising highlight though) resulted in the manager gracefully removing the optional service charge from the bill. How kind! But as I said at the start, it takes time to settle down, so I look forward to a second visit to an establishment some promise. Not how I usually get to spend a Thursday afternoon but took time out with some friends over from France sitting in the 'lounge' (bar!) of The Botanist. Was feeling a touch peckish so ordered a burger and fries - Wow, I've never had a burger quite like it.. big compliments to the chef, it was the most delicious burger I have ever had, and I've had a few burgers in my time. Friendly service, very chic interior design without being too intimidating, love all the mirrors, all very glamerous and a big treat!! 4 1/2 hours later I had to cycle home in the semi-darkness and realised I'd left my bike lights at home - oooops!!!! read more

The Botanist is one of my favorite places to go for cocktails. The bartenders take their time making delicious drinks you'll remember. I'm a big fan of the dirty martinis, and everything is pretty reasonably priced too. Haven't had too much food here, but everything I've had has been great. There's a great atmosphere during the summer when all the windows are open, and it's definitely worth a visit. read more

Ive been here a few times and Ive always liked it, food and the atmosphere is great. Their seasonal bloody marys are especially good. My main reservation about going there again is that the service has gone downhill, last time I went I came just BEFORE the breakfast menu/options closed and was first told by one waiter I could order, so I ordered and several minutes later was told by another waiter in a rather unpleasant tone that as it was so close to lunch I couldnt order breakfast. While it may seem like a small thing similar things have happened other times Ive been as well and its not acceptable for the price they offer things at nor for the place they want to (and used to) be. If they fix their service I would easily give them 4 stars. read more

After a long, strenuous day of shopping in Chelsea, my friend and I needed sustenance- and we needed it STAT. We stumbled upon the Botanist- it was destiny. We walked in to find an elegantly furnished restaurant filled with conversation and laughter. AGAIN, I am the WORST at making reservations, and it was easy to get a table for two. The food was good, nothing too mind blowing. I don't drink, but, my friend said her cocktail was TO DIE FOR. (Note: I am not encouraging the consumption of alcohol, merely commenting on the cold, hard FACTS). All of the waitresses were young, fit, birds with long hair (GENTLEMEN: This is place is calling your name). I have been to the Botanist several times. As a bar in the evening it's a great location - buzzing atmosphere, great clientele, nice drinks. Not so for tea, alas. The main problem is the unfailingly poor service. This week I decided to meet a girlfriend for afternoon tea. We both work outside London, so looked for a venue which served tea as late as possible. The Botanist state on their website that they serve afternoon tea until 6pm, and at £17 it is more reasonable than many premium locations which charge up to £40. I booked online, requesting afternoon tea and a table by the window. The next morning I received an email confirmation, but on a hunch I decided to call to confirm. A surly manageress informed me that the last 'sitting' for afternoon tea was in fact 5.15pm. When I pointed out that it would be difficult to make it from work for 5.15pm she offered neither an apology, or a resolution. Only after much pressing did she grudgingly agree that if we arrived at 5.45pm there 'might' be something available. We arrived at 5.45 and were seated by the window. The Botanist's version afternoon tea is not quite Browns, but to be fair, neither is the price. You choose one delicious cake (we had a choice of 3 but it was the end of the day). You can also choose from an extensive tea menu. The sandwiches are pretty average - nothing special in terms of fillings and the bread is often semi stale on the outside - they are obviously pre-cut earlier in the day. The staff are very inflexible about filling choice - cheese without pickle was far too challenging, so not ideal if you are picky or have allergies. These are served with two very nice scones, jam and cream. Very patchy service - slow, rude, inefficient. Leaves a bitter taste in the mouth, which with all its attributes is a real shame. No top-up of hot water, no plates(!) - totally ignored. We waited 30 mins for the bill after asking twice, then gave up and walked to the till. Botanist - get your act together! read more

One of the restaurants conveniently situated on Sloane Square, where my friend and I decided to have Sunday lunch as a change from his favorite, Colbert. I ordered the monkfish special and he ordered the crab linguini; they were more like dinner options but was either a lunch/dinner menu or Sunday roast. The restaurant was half empty when we sat down at 12, but became relatively full over the next hour and a half. I think it's more of a nice business lunch type of setting, relatively quiet and was nice with the windows open and natural sunlight, where people can relax and take their time. As for the food, the monkfish was well cooked and dressed with a few vegetables, but overall very much fine dining and I came away a bit hungry without an appetizer. The crab linguini, however, looked amazing and I would have definitely been happy with that. My friend told me that this place is also very popular for drinks, so will have to return to check that out. read more

Also, they make you take hats off yet, there was a woman with a dog on her lap the whole time I ate dinner and when I was at the bar. How is that ok? Sloane Square dining has jumped since my last visit, and The Botanist was a delicious introduction via an unusual roast mackerel dish for lunch, even if the bar is missing 9 out of 12 stools. Getting an outside table probably requires HRH before your name, but the environment is quite enjoyable inside. read more

This was my fourth or fifth visit to The Botanist and it was excellent as always. I had the scallops to start and they were cooked perfectly, accompanied by a bisque sauce which was delicious. I carried on the seafood theme with the lobster for main and was not disappointed. Obviously fresh from Billingsgate Market as stated on the menu, it melted in the mouth. Was too full for desert but finished off the meal with a delicious espresso. Overall a great experience. read more

It was our first time there last week.. and I would never go there again.. They had some posh customers and manager was very rude to us when he wanted to move us to a different table for his "more important customers"!.. He was so pushy, made us so uncomfortable and ruined our mood and night... He had no right to be that pushy, we had the right to sit where we wanted.. I called the security to keep the manager away from us, security said that is his manager and he can't do anything about it.. Very disappointing! read more

Came here for dinner on Friday night and it was great food. I had 6 escargots to start, then a Chicken Caesar salad that came with a whole roast baby poussin wrapped in bacon, next to a really delicious Caesar salad. All washed down with lots of wonderful red wine. Good service, discreet waiters, fast service. Noise level just right. I'll be back! read more
