Checked out this spot while waiting for our daughter. It's a casual bar and grill with slot machines, juke box, atm, pool, pull tabs and several tvs. There are several tables in the front and seating at the bar. The washrooms are also located at the front. We did not venture in too far, but I did see more seating in the back of the bar. It was a bit busy and a little loud, but you cannot control the guests. The entrance does have stairs. in addition, there is a fenced area in the back that can be utilized in the warming months. There is parking on the side of the building. We asked our server Taylor "Columbia" what she recommended, and she offered the sausage pizza as that is a top seller and she suggested the burgers. We ordered the sausage pizza with a full order of fries, and we were not disappointed. In addition, we ordered two burgers to-go. When placing that to-go order we asked for extra napkins and plastic ware as those we ordered for would be eating on their 45-minute ride home. Many times (other restaurants), these items are missed, but not this time. Much appreciated. As requested, the fries came out first. Hot and crispy and salted perfectly. Then the pizza came out. The crust was crunchy and tasty making the pizza in itself delicious. Great recommendation from our server. And the girls were rather satisfied with their burgers as well. The good: This a great thin crust, sweat sauce, with some generous size meatballs pizza. We love mushrooms and onions on ours. Crust is just perfect, you can tell this guys have some pride in their Za. Service: I would recommend sitting at the bar or be visible of the bar because it can get busy. Had an excellent time stopping for dinner on a Friday. Service was slower but solely because they were busy - clearly a good sign! We tried the cheesy garlic bread and boneless wings for apps. The wings could've used a little more sauce but both were good. We ordered dinner - baked cod, fried perch, burger, and pepperoni and sausage pizza. If you could give zero stars - that's what they would get because that is exactly what this establishment deserves. I received zero acknowledgement; except for the gentlemen at the bar staying at my hotel. The bartender look me twice but never came over. The server was too busy to stop his side work. I went for beer and boneless wings; ended up just wasting my time. I sat at a table - not one other person was at a table for 25 minutes and was never approach for a drink or any kind of service. It was disappointing. This is a place for people to attend who are local I guess. It's really dive bar and dumpy so it certainly wasn't that I didn't dress appropriately. I would not ever visit again. It's a shame because I really wanted to bless someone with a large tip and a small order. This is the kind of place that it could really make a difference to someone. I used to frequent this place since it was right down from my apartment. I went in on the anniversary of my mom's death, depressed and just wanting human interaction, boy did I get it. I came in sat at the bar went to the restroom to blow my nose and come back to find that my stuff had been moved from where I was sitting because a group wanted to sit together. They didn't ask me they just moved it. Rude staff did nothing except ask me to leave even though I had done nothing wrong. Except say it was rude to not ask me first. read more

My GOTO place for food and relaxation. Nicki during the day and Eric are top notch. The food is not your average bar food. The menu is varied with daily specials. Have yet to have a bad meal. Their soups are prepared in house and are outstanding. Lastly, the Clam Chowder is to die for. read more

I would choose ZERO stars if it were an option. We live nearby and my little six year old daughter wanted wings. We went in and sat at a table to ordered wings, however there was a group of clearly over served males at the bar screaming profanity and wrestling the entire visit. Little did I know that the wings were ICE COLD FROZEN in the middle as my daughter gnawed on them. I approached the bartender and he said they would remake them and told me that we could keep the frozen ones if we wanted... umm no thanks because I didn't want my little one getting sick...Common sense..The mozzarella sticks were Luke warm at best and nothing was homemade. Even my can of soda was flat. We waited for the second round of shitty restaurant depot wings and asked for the bill. I have visited this bar a few times. I have never been thoroughly impressed with the atmosphere. Most recently, we had a very unfortunate experience. Myself, my friend, and his brother went here for a quick bite to eat before a movie. The waitress was extremely rude to us upon sitting us, and seemed annoyed that we asked about beers on tap. When she took our food order, she told us that she HAD to have one of our credit cards put down with our order to ensure that we didn't leave without paying. That was very frustrating for her to assume that we wouldn't pay. Two of us are teachers, and one is a salesman. We were all dressed nicely and treated her with kindness. The Bowery is a solid option for food and drinks if you find yourself on the extreme south end of Milwaukee county. It's a pretty typical Wisconsin bar; the type of place that could be picked up and dropped off anywhere in the state and not seem out of place. To some, who may be used to the classier options in the Third Ward or in Madison, this might be off putting. To others it's a comfortable option, where you can go wearing jeans and a T-shirt without worrying about the scene (assuming Franklin has a scene). There's a pool table and dart board in the back which are typically open. If video gaming is your thing, they have a few of those as well as Buck Hunter. Beer selection is probably the best in the immediate area. They've got the usual Miller/Bud type stuff but also carry Bell's, Magner's, Capital and a few imports. If you like beer you will find something here. There are nightly drink specials as well, for those who drink frugally. Food! They have that, too! I've had the burgers and they're great, made to order. They make their own pizzas. These can be a little pricey on their own but if you go when they have a special it's reasonable. Service is awesome, absolutely no complaints. Clientele...well, you might run into someone who's partied a bit too hard just as you will on the East Side on the last day of finals. However, the employees there are attentive and will intervene at the slightest hint of an issue. read more

I'm not a beer connoisseur or a person who frequents bars so I can't speak to any of that. There are two reasons why this bar gets 3 stars, which is a good thing: 1) the bar is warm on a cold day; 2) the bathroom is warm. There are far too many bars that lose major points due to indoor freezing temps. Not Bowery. It was a welcomed warmth after nearly losing a toe from the cold inside Bootz Saloon. I cannot really give Bowery more than 3 stars on this visit, because I was a patron thanks to my escorts. I did not interact with the bartenders, because I was not the one purchasing drinks. I only had a Diet Coke, so I also cannot comment on the quality of the mixologists. But, with all of that being said, the bar appeared to be clean, and had a quiet bunch. Well, at least until some guy started yelling about Trent Dilfer and his playing ability. Last time I checked, Trent was a commentator, no longer a QB. I'm a girl, and I know that. There is a reason that the 3 stars is bad, though. Bowery had a "bouncer," but he was eating his bowl of soup by the door; I am more intimidating. He was not the best suited individual for the job. He would pop up out of his chair if he heard the door open (his back to it, by the way) and check IDs. When the volume increased and space between bar patrons shrunk during the Dilfer "conversation," his call to action was not exactly a deterrent. Probably not even a blip on the radar. The Bowery seems like a peaceful watering hole, so maybe they don't require a burly guy at the door. I would be interested in coming back to watch the horseshoe league in the warmer months. They have some nice pits. I have a feeling that Summer casts the Bowery in a better light, or at least a more exciting one. A strobe, maybe?? read more

The Bowery is a great place to go out and meet up with a group of friends. Their food is good and reasonably priced. Their drink prices are also reasonable. They have a good selection of beers on tap and bottled, both domestic and imported. Probably one of the best Pizzas I have had. Good Burgers, one of the better Fish Fry's in Milwaukee. Food specials everyday of the week, From Wings, build your own burger, Mexican night, and Ribs and Smoked Chicken on Saturdays. Darts and Pool table, Horse Shoes in the warmer weather, an adult sized Jenga game. Outside walk up bar when its warm out, with a beautiful beer garden. I highly recommend it to anyone. read more
