Their music wasn't overly loud, was at a very comfortable level to have a conversation and be able to listen and conversaste comfortably . Unfortunately the flight options were not specific about the brim being cinnamon for a few of them, and we got the incorrect pancake trio order, otherwise would have been 5 stars. First off, I had been waiting to try this place for a while now. However, there was always a long line and I am not very patient. So, finally on a Tuesday, there was no line and I was seated immediately. All of the food is presented in a vibrant manner. Very visually pleasing. However, the food was a huge let down. Everything tasted like it was from a can. As a Latina, I know what authentic chilaquiles and beans are supposed to taste like and this was not it. Awful. I will never return. Contrary to the many negative reviews, I think this place is great and it really blew me away! From the food to the service to the value it was truly best in class! The only thing I can see being off-putting is the wait time to get seated. Luckily I went in on an early Friday morning where it may have been slower than usual compared to a weekend time. The food was top-tier, big portions, and I was surprised to come with a free/included freshly made coffee cake as a desert as part of my entree (if you pick it over the fries or other options, which I highly recommend the coffee cake). Extensive drinks and cocktail list available but we opted for a cup of coffee which was strong and good. Ambience was nice! Lots of cool designs and decorations throughout and upscale vibe. The Bar/counter area is modern but you can tell it pays homage to the retro diner nostalgic vibe. This bar area is a walk-up first-come-first-serve seating and has TV's which is a big plus! This was my first time coming to this restaurant, wait was approximately 15 mins for a party of 2 not bad. We got seated outside and there was shade which I appreciate. I definitely enjoy the multicultural menu. Food did take 33 minutes to come out but was very delicious. Coffee was also amazing. Ambiance was fresh and was giving spring vibes inside. We stood at the entrance for a while without anyone acknowledging us even though staff clearly saw us there. Not the best first impression. The restaurant itself is spacious with plenty of seating, so I can see why it's popular for brunch groups. Food-wise, it was hit or miss. The corned beef skillet had really flavorful corned beef, but the potatoes were overly mushy. The loco moco was the bigger disappointment -- the burger patty tasted extremely burnt, almost like charcoal, and made the dish hard to eat. The gravy and rice saved it a little, and the kimchi on the side was actually pretty good. Also noticed the mac salad that was supposed to come with it never arrived. Me and my friend were quite surprised to see that they had opened a new Breakfast at Midtown -- because to be honest, we had only knew of the one near Downtown San Jose. The logo looked legit, so we decided to give it a try. All I will say is -- despite being really spontaneous about it, I do not regret going to this new location. Not only is it closer to me in terms of distance to my house, but also, it is very close to work for me, and a prime location for me and my Castro Valley friends to meet up. The ambiance was also very similar to the one in San Jose, except The hospitality at the Breakfast at Midtown was top-tier. I really appreciated the fact that they were able to seat us inside despite how busy they were in the morning. We got a mimosa each, with orange juice, and Benedicts and omelettes. It was really savory, not too overly salted, and I thought that it was quite enough for both of us. The portion was so big that I had to take the rest to have for leftovers. Will definitely be back to bring more friends to this breakfast spot -- they are as equally yummy as the San Jose one, so thankfully they won't have to make that trek down to the South Bay if we wanted a taste. read more

The tofu scramble, I was told, was a popular dish, and it is made with no egg or meat products. But it was a little dry and the veggies in there lacked flavor as well. My partner liked the bacon scramble. He's also had the Korean chicken here, which he thought was generous in portion. I've had the huevos rancheros and was disappointed by the Tex-mex taste of the refried beans and lack of flavor. This place gets really busy especially on the weekends, and they did a great job remodeling the inside from the old Shari's Pies, which was much darker inside. We came to this location on a busy Sunday and the wait was around 30 minutes to get seated. Luckily there are enough shops around the village to check out while waiting for that text message for seating. Please note that visiting this restaurant means you'll be spending more than the average for a brunch meal. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles for $20 and for dessert some Smores Pancakes for $16. Tried this place for the first time last Friday and was really impressed. Large, interesting menu, fast service, friendly staff, and delicious food. It was pretty packed, being the day after Christmas, but we still got a table within about 20 minutes or so. Despite the name, The Breakfast Club offers both breakfast and lunch, with sweet and savory options and a lot of interesting, unique dishes. I went with the banana apricot French toast, which was topped with sliced bananas and accompanied by a side of apricot jam or preserves. The serving was incredibly generous and I had to take about half the plate home. The toast was absolutely delicious, and the combo of banana and apricot was as good as it sounds. Not too sweet, but just sweet enough to be a great treat. I was slightly disappointed that the apricots weren't sliced and came in the form factor of jam/preserves, but it was still a great flavor combination. Everyone at the table loved their food, which ranged from salads to huevos rancheros to the pancake sampler, which allows you to choose three different pancakes from the menu to try in case you have a few you just can't choose between. Prices were really reasonable, too, given how much food we all received. My only piece of feedback: management should install purse/coat hooks to the underside of the tall tables near the counter. There's nowhere to hang them when seated there and it's a bit awkward and uncomfortable. Come here hungry because you're going to leave full. Can't wait to come back here. read more

Everything came together perfectly on cream cheese toast and a side of cantaloupe. Santa Maria Breakfast- 10/10 yummy steak on a breakfast skillet with Jalapenos and guacamole. Blueberry and lemon ricotta pancakes - 10/10 this was my absolute favorite. The pancake batter was the lemon ricotta, plus blueberries mixed in. Then they topped it with blueberries and a cream cheese drizzle. Absolutely divine! Fries - 10/10 for my picky eater except they do add paprika seasoning to these and I had to send them back. FYI for anyone with a capsicum allergy. I did have to knock down 1 star because my OJ was warm. I didn't mention this to the server because I used the ice from my water cup. I stopped by here on a Tuesday morning after driving by 10,000 times. I was seated quickly, the server was pleasant and checked on me immediately. There were a lot of options and choosing was difficult. I decided to start with a traditional breakfast. The portion size was good for the price. The eggs were scrambled a little hard but the cheese was good. The house potatoes were delicious. Nice sautéed bell peppers with a little crunch. I wish my toast would have come buttered but the sour dough was well toasted. Nice quality hotlink with just enough heat. The Coffee was smooth and strong enough. I like that they offered vanilla creamer as option. The mimosa was the perfect balance of alcohol and freshly squeezed orange juice- and had a cute presentation. Lalo, my server, continued to check on me at good intervals in the most unobtrusive manner - Greatly appreciated. We used to go to Sherri's Pies when it was in this location, but it had gone downhill, so it's nice to see a new spot here! We arrived before 9 a.m., and it was already full. We put our names on the list and were quoted a 25-30 minute wait, but we only ended up waiting about 10 minutes. The dining room was spaced out and had a nice ambiance. Overall, the staff was great, though the hostess could have been a bit friendlier. The food was yummy. We tried pancakes, waffles, eggs Benedict, a scramble, and a few sides. The pancakes were thick and fluffy, and very reasonably priced for a large stack of four. The strawberry waffles were crispy and sweet. The hash browns were super crispy--just how I like them! The herb potatoes were very well done, which I loved, since I find most restaurant roasted potatoes are slightly undercooked. My mom liked her chicken apple sausage omelette, but mentioned the sausage flavor was strong. The California eggs Benedict was also tasty, and the bread was nice and soft. I came by Monday morning after 9:30 am running a nearby errand and there was no wait, though I hear the wait can get pretty long on weekends. The space is large and well lit with plenty of natural lighting. Menu-wise they offer a large selection of breakfast options, including pancakes/waffles, benedicts, scrambles, skillets, omelettes, and various Mexican options. Lunch options are a little bit more limited with mostly sandwiches and burgers. I got the loco moco ($22) with extra gravy. It's interesting because they asked how I wanted both the patty and eggs. I got the patty well done and eggs over hard and subbed in hash browns for the mac salad. My friend got the Mexican scramble ($19) with the chorizo taken out to make it vegetarian. Overall I thought my loco moco was okay. I'm glad I got the extra gravy because the normal amount definitely wouldn't have been enough for me. I love to scoop up a generous portion of gravy with each bite. I wasn't sure about the kimchi on the side though, it's the first time I've seen it served with loco moco and I left it alone. The breakfast club is nestled right at the entrance of the Castro Valley shopping center. Parking can get very challenging at this location. Weekends are extremely busy in this area especially at this restaurant. I went here on a weekday after my doctor's appt at Sutter health. I was seated right away and was given the menu. I think they have a pretty extensive menu, there was a lot of good choices on their menu and definitely a bit pricey but I think it was worth it. The restaurant itself was nice, very spacious, and clean. They have a nice area with high tables where there is a bar as well. This location was definitely a big upgrade from Shari's. Anyways, I ordered their chicken & waffles with gravy on the side as well as a side of fruit. I also ordered a glass of fresh orange juice. The chicken & waffles was really good and the portion was a good size. I could not finish the chicken but the chicken was cooked well and was very tasty. I always pour syrup on the chicken to added a little sweetness to it. Even the waffles was cooked well and was a good portion. Food great! Service awesome! Ambiance horrible! Sat outside on Saturday at 9AM so my 2 kids and I didn't have to wait. Food came out great, but my pita bread was served later with my Shakshuka. Would be a lot better to have the complete meal served, but that was ok since I could have my kids start eating. The servers were swift to fulfill our requests and it was a great morning to be outside for breakfast. Unfortunately our awesome meal came to a traumatic end. When we were finishing up my daughter yells, "Dad!" and I see the umbrella come crashing down almost hitting us. I shoved it out the way and thankfully it didn't hit us. I was so upset and wanted to leave quickly to get my kids safe. I called the server and told him what happened. Pointed out that the umbrella had a missing piece that keeps it stable. Came here around 9:30am on a Saturday and waited about 30 minutes for a table for 2. Solid breakfast spot. Definitely got busier after 10am. Food -- No complaints really here. We got the Farmhouse Omelette and Plain Crisp Waffle. Both were really tasty and each plate were a good portion for sharing. Environment -- There's indoor and outdoor seating with a first come first serve bar. Restaurant was clean and there's a nice patio in front where you could wait for your table. Service -- Attentive service. Pretty quick once you are seated. When getting on the waitlist, the host will take your number and text you updates. You can wait or walk around the village plaza. Value -- Breakfast prices were pretty average. Definitely not cheap, but you're paying for the experience and convenience. Food was good so it was well worth it! read more

Update: Don't patronize this business of you don't like big portions. Or, split one. They are generous with their portions. The food is good and a relatively good value given the portion sizes. This place is very busy, which is a testament to their portions and taste and service. They've been open long enough that the "new business rush" is gone. Prepare for anywhere from a 20 to 45 minute wait. I've probably gone 3 or 4 times, and the service has been good each time. Recommended. read more

Overhyped spot that was not worth the time in my opinion. The food is pricy and the quality and flavor was not at level. We tried a few different dishes and there was nothing memorable about them. The wait was over 50 minutes, and it is caotic with how they seat. Priority to smaller parties. They put your name on a list but we heard hosts calling people after they were seated due to miscommunication. Once seated it took another 10+ minutes to get our orders in and then another 35+ minutes for the food to be served, and it did not get served all at together so some were finished by the time others got their food. Set up and ambiance 7/10 with no walking space between tables. This place is definitely ment for parties of up to 4 people only. The menus need to be better as most of them were faded and missing information. We had to look up the menu online instead. Service: 5/10 the staff were not rude, but overwhelmed and you can see the caos as they were yelling out to each other on what needed to be done. Food 7/10 some items were good others were a miss. The banana french toast were perfect, but the pancakes were dry and doughy. The eggs were not seasoned and the drinks were basic. read more
