The Briggait has only been renovated in the past few years, and as an emerging arts venue it's fairly new on the scene, but has still hosted some cracking events.
Owned by local arts collective WASPS Studios, the staff are informative if you're ever looking for a venue. It's a gorgeous, grand old building with a central location, a stonesthrow away from the retail area of Argyle St, the Merchant City and ound the corner from the Clyde.
Its glass roof and spacious foyer are breathtaking, with the renovation retaining the former grandeur of the former century. Because of these features it makes it a great place to host local events. It has previously played host to a number of Commonwealth activities, arts exhibitions, a great mosaic of old art from Glasgow Museums collection during the G.I festival, a Coffee festival and vintage fairs, to name but a few happenings in this hip hall.
Worth keeping your eye on for future events, in its resting period it is a base for collectives of local artists and theatre companies. While it seems to be slow moving during the winter the summers in here are thriving, and with it getting increasing attention it can only go from strength to strength as a cultural venue. read more
