It caught our eye, initially, driving by because we're from Austin (if you've been to Austin, you'll know why this caught our eye) :) We took our bikes over to get them serviced (it had been a WHILE since they were used). To roll, or not to roll? Bicycles are awesome machines! Did you know that a human being increases efficiency exponentially on a bicycle? Without a bike we are less than worms, sad face. I like to roll my wheels all around the great city of Santa Fe and the outlying off road trails as well, so I have two rigs. One road, one MTB. I just recently road my new (old) front suspension MTB into here to get some tips & advice on setup and riding with a shock fork and where some groovy trails are around town. They were totes helpful in all regards. I even bought some new gummy handle grips and some goo-tubes for the nasty Goatheads that thrive out here in the desert. Overall, I had a great experience here and I'd recommend this shop to any newbie or seasoned riding enthusiast. I can't praise this shop enough. My buddy and I drove from Phoenix to ride New Mexico. We stayed in Santa Fe for three days and on the first day, my derailleur broke: noooooooo! MUST.SHRED.!! So we went to this bike shop and I was met with a young bike mechanic (sup, bruh?!). No, silliness aside, he was very professional and asked me how he could help. I told him my issue and one of his buddies ended up calling five other shops in town asking whether they carry my derailleur: nope, sorry, but we can overnight it. From there every thing was like clockwork. They promised me the bike by closing time tomorrow. Not only did I get my cassette, derailleur, and spoke installed, but my buddy and I ended up renting fat bikes (we're now officially chubby chasers), and purchasing a New Mexico biking sock. Honestly, if you are in Santa Fe, go to this shop. They have a huge stock of, well, almost everything, in addition to top quality bike rentals. Called and inquired about fixing flat on my electric bike rear wheel. Not an easy fix for me. Sure, come on in. I went down and they helped me take the bike out of the car and into the store. Ugh, 60 lbs.! At first said overnight the bike and pick it up the next day. Ok, but upon inspection I had to take the lithium battery home. Of course I didn't bring the key...what a dummy ! Young mechanic conversed with the owner and he said he would fix it now while I waited so then I bought two tires and 3 bags and with the repair I spent 400 bucks there. My partner and I were on a two week road trip in our airstream and we decided on the trip we needed some mountain bikes. We had already had TREK road bikes so we obviously wanted to find TREK mountain bikes but also electric with motors. Since the pandemic it has been difficult to find a bike anywhere and especially the ones we wanted. During the trip we found one bike in Texas and called this place two days before arrival and they had the bike in STOCK! We rushed over and they had it waiting for me. Now given the situation they were working outside of the store while practicing social distancing and mask covering guidelines. There was a line of people waiting to get bike repairs and pick up new bikes. They helped me within 5 minutes and catted with patrons while we waited for the adjustments. The employee even got me set up and my partners bikes (which we didn't even buy there) with tubeless ready wheels. I was extremely impressed how they seem like a well oiled machine working together to get customers taken care of. This was a very disappointing interaction with whom we've heard was the most friendly bike shop in town. A short time back my girlfriend brought in a bike for consignment which had a decent value (the saddle alone was worth at least $100) and was offered $50 for the entire bike. She wanted to be done with it, so fine. Then we were gifted a bike from friends and took it in to broken spoke to get tuned up, and were treated with condescension and apathy since it seemed like the new bike didn't fit the employee's standards of being dealt with. When my lady inquired into purchasing a new bike there, the employee had an abrupt change of heart and was willing to work with us. Commission got your tongue? When we picked up the gifted bike, not all of the agreed upon work had been done. We settled the tab and will never again go back to broken spoke again. We had heard from friends that you were not elitest at all in an industry which apparently is (for whatever reason), and you proved them wrong. read more

The guys at broken spoke are very helpful. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars and not 5 is the prices are a bit high for me. Regardless, I have purchased over $200 worth of gear from them and it has been well worth it. You could buy cheap gear from wal-mart and have it break down on you in a month, or you can spend some extra money at Broken Spoke and have proper gear that's worth the money. good job guys! read more

This is my first ever review! Wonderfully attentive and thoughtful staff and owner. I stumbled across this gem as my wife wanted a particular bike for her birthday and they were the only ones in town who had it. All of our friends and family chipped in and we were able to get the one she wanted. Sadly, only one month later her new ride was stolen and she was heartbroken. Mike and his staff hung the details on the mechanics wall, but we knew the bike was gone. Three full months later, the folks from Broken Spoke recognized the bike under another rider in town! My boys and I, recently traveled to Santa Fe for vacation week, from Marin County, Calfornia. With my husband away for work, it was up to me to provide the adventure for the boys. I found Broken Spoke on Singletracks website and contacted the shop about rentals for MTB biking and used their site to find the best trails. My older son rides hard and I asked if anyone in the shop could take my son riding while we visited. They set us up with a young high school rider that took my son riding for the day up in the mountains. He was beyond thrilled. Mike and the crew at Broken Spoke gave us the time, advice, bikes and gear to support us for a few days exploring MTB biking in the area. It worked out to be the best trip!
