Upon entering, I was actually glad the restaurant was empty (Tuesday morning)-- there were only two other customers eating. The decor were beautiful and definitely set a nice tone. However, the experience was not what I expected. To start, my pop was flat, so I sent it back. The waitress seemed a bit confused and asked if it had gas, it just had no flavor at all. I decided to stick with water after that. We ordered the bacon flight, and the presentation was horrible. Almost all the slices had a burned look, One slice came broken into pieces, and every slice was cold. Needless to say, all of the food that came out was cold -- nothing had any warmth to it. The French toast flight looked beautiful presentation-wise, but the taste was just okay. The raspberry french toast was extremely sweet not enjoyable. The strawberry French toast definitely had the best flavor out of everything we tried. For the restaurant being nearly empty, I expected much better attentiveness from the waitress. Our table never received napkins, so I had to grab some from a nearby table myself. I also never got a refill on my water, and I'm used to restaurants at least offering refills without having to ask. The most bothersome part was having to get up and find my waitress just to pay the bill. I eventually found her eating at the front counter. Will I return? I will say it was kind of a lot in terms of ambiance and there were bugs everywhere. There were a lot of windows open but it was a little distracting and hot. This spot is a whole brunch vibe. The creativity in the menu really shines, and it's a fun place to explore unique takes on familiar dishes. While there's room for improvement in a few areas based off my own preferences, overall it was a great experience. What we ordered: * Bacon Flight - 6/10. The jalapeño and pork belly were easily the highlights--packed with flavor and cooked just right. The rest of the lineup didn't leave much of an impression, but the concept is fun. * French Toast Mega Flight - 8/10. Sweet, indulgent, and a great way to sample multiple toppings. Perfect if you can't decide on just one style of French toast. * Jerk Chicken Alfredo Omelette w/ Loaded Fries - 7/10. Loved the flavor--spicy, creamy, and well-seasoned. I think that social media hypes it up and definitely encourages you to come. I think it's a solid spot for the signature French toast flight. The bacon flight was just OK. Not something I would order again, but worth a try. The Benedict which I looked forward to, was underwhelming. Each of the samples were cooked into the breading, but didn't have any of it topped on it which I think would have made the difference. The pulled pork was topped, so that was the best of the 4. The cheesy hash browns were really good. The customer service was really nice. You can tell it's a hot spot for groups. They don't reservations, but it moves quickly. read more

I decided to visit today solo dolo on my birthday to come grab some French toast. What I go instead was what seemed to be a dressed up soggy mess, old bacon and hastily thrown together hash browns. I asked the server, on one of the few times she can by, was the French toast supposed to be like this and she said because it was brioche toast that it was. But I've never had until today super liquidy bread that looks like it didn't touch a flattop. I have made French toast before, I know what it's supposed to look like. They have this policy(which I hate) where the WHOLE party has to be present to be seated, regardless if the majority of the party is there; so be mindful of that. We were honoring the life of my granny who recently passed and although they started to make us wait, they were flexible and allowed us to sit. Now let's get to the food. I ordered the deviled eggs(not my favorite), executive catfish breakfast with egg whites and munster cheese, and the mimosa tower. Bomb!!!!!! Other people ordered the steak sandwich, they loved it. My uncle got a pastrami type sandwich, he murked it! I don't usually eat all my food, my plate was clean. My cousin damn near licked hers clean. I ordered a skillet and a side of pancakes (I wanted a side of french toast but the server said that was not an option). The skillet took a while to come out and was not worth the wait. It was completely bland and the broccoli was raw. The other food my friends ordered were overcooked and also bland. When asked how our food was, we provided honest feedback and were told they would let us know what the manager can do, however, no one returned. I was super excited about this meal but was thoroughly disappointed. Firstly, the restaurant was packed which wouldn't really have been a problem for me if there was space for the waiting parties to wait. We were all standing in the entryway blocking traffic from the waiters and exiting patrons. Once we were sat down the music was so loud that we could barely hear our waiter. We were practically screaming across the table to communicate. Our food came out before our drinks and we had to ask the waiter about said drinks. My biscuits and gravy were cold and my friends homestyle skillet was bland. Our food just wasnt good (except for the cheese fries and chicken sausage links, those were FIRE) Once our drinks arrived i noticed that my drink was virtually unsweetened even after i asked my waiter for a bit of simple syrup to add. We were quickly seated, and our waitress, Elvira, came over post-haste to get us oriented. Finding out this was our first time visiting, she immediately whipped out a phone and started guiding us through images and video of some of their more popular dishes -- a unique experience for us both. We couldn't quite bring ourselves to dig into the OTT glories of their various pancakes, but both greatly enjoyed our choice of omelets and hashes. They're obviously willing to make menu adjustments, as I asked for zucchini, which I find to be a culinary offense, to be left out of Franny's Skillet, and the dish was delivered gourd-less. (Gourds! Who needs them???) A special shout out to both Elvira, waitress extraordinaire, and also to Jose, who came by regularly to fill water glasses and make sure we were enjoying ourselves. Just no. I came in for a quiet birthday brunch and left regretting the choice. I waited 15 minutes before anyone brought water. Sam, my server, eventually showed up, but completely ignored me after that. No check-in after my food was dropped off (by someone from the kitchen) and my water sat empty for half the meal while Sam stood around watching other tables and doing nothing. Then came the kicker: an automatic 18% gratuity on a table for one. I've worked in the service industry; I normally tip 25-30% for good service. But if staff know they're getting 18% no matter what, what's the incentive to provide actual service? Mediocre food, indifferent staff and a business practice that penalizes solo diners. This place is amazing! I rarely do reviews on Yelp, but this restaurant is deserving. We ordered the deviled eggs, the executive steak & eggs, & the Benedict flights. The deviled eggs were the best deviled eggs I've had in my life. They were well seasoned and the shrimp on top added a flavor element that was original & superb. For the executive steak & eggs, the steak was also seasoned well. The gravy with the mushrooms elevated the meat. You're able to choose how you want your eggs and I chose scrambled. This dish includes a side choice of house potatoes, fruit, or hashbrowns. I got the hasbrowns, but loaded, which included bacon, cheese, & a side of sour cream. This was delicious. Lastly, the Benedict flights were a seasonal item, and thus, warranted our exploration. The four flavors included a jerk chicken with Alfredo cream, lobster with a hollandaise sauce, crab with a pineapple chutney, and pulled pork with a truffle glaze. All four of these were FANTASTIC, but my two favorites were the jerk chicken and pork benedicts. Coming here was absolutely an educated decision. We're from California, but I will definitely be coming back to Chicago to experience this place again! read more

Worst service that I have had this year and the food is not good. Food portions are small and not worth the overpriced menu. Then they have the nerve to charge an 18% surcharge for dining. They show it as gratuity on your bill then ask you to tip on top of it! Our waitress rarely came around then gave us attitude the few times that she did show up. Watch your bill they try to add on little things like $3 for blue cheese when I asked for blue cheese dressing not blue cheese on the side. They don't have blue cheese dressing. Water was immediately provided and our server came right over, I cannot remember his name but he was quick, nice, and explained the menu as it was our first time and checked on us multiple times. The food was absolutely delicious, my partner had the turkey sandwich and I got the French toast flight with a side of crispy loaded potatoes, it was sooo good! I asked what the French toast of the week was and our server let me know. Unfortunately, I'm allergic to raspberry which was the flavor and he allowed me to double up on one of the other flavors. Although the service and the food is great, it was quite loud, the music was loud and I typically don't have any issue with that. I think it is a tad too loud because the volume of the music is so high, that everyone has to yell in order to be heard. The space is set up to utilize every inch, our server had to step to the side multiple times to let others pass or kind of hover/lean over the table. Visiting Chicago to celebrate my birthday and we had brunch at The Brunchery. We ordered biscuits & gravy with a side of maple apple chicken sausage, And the country fried chicken. The maple sausage was disgustingly unpleasant, they had a weird teriyaki type glaze and old. The country sausage gravy was packed with sugar and lacked basic salt & pepper seasoning. Never had sugar based sausage gravy, disgusting. The hash browns were bland & cold. The chicken was fried to perfection, juicy but also lacked seasoning. Overall not what I expected or have ever experienced for brunch food. Customer Service was also slow and staff seem restless. The ambiance was a vibe, but very loud!
