If the weather is nice, you really owe it to yourself to sit outside and enjoy a meal with the sweeping views of the countryside. It's not just a pub and restaurant. They also have a shop on site selling food and wares. There's ample parking and a lot of outdoor seating. I wish I knew that their Yelp review had no photos at all. The only photos I took were of my food. The food is so tasty and well made. There's a broad variety and (thankfully) there are several really delicious vegetarian choices. The beer is varied and good. I'm not down this way often, but when I am, I stop in.

First impressions were of a traditional British pub experience, which was a good start. Our clumsiness of grabbing a table and figuring out whether we needed to go to the bar to order or wait to be served, surely gave us away as "not locals." Our server was friendly and provided us with our menus and took our drinks order. The one shortfall was that the menu had a number of items not available and with an assist from a customer, two of us needed a rethink on their meal. In all, it was 4 Fish & Chips, One Farmhouse Burger, and a Battered Halloumi burger, plus an order of calamari, and 4 tomato and garlic soups. There were zero plates taken off the table that were not empty! I had the Halloumi burger, which had a great, crispy batter topped with some guacamole mayo with a red sauce on the side. Really good. Then we doubled down and hit the dessert menu! Two warm chocolate brownies with salted caramel ice cream and four plum tarts. We asked for some custard on the side because who doesn't like custard?! Save for the debate about whether it was more a pie than a tart, another set of empty plates were the only evidence left. Would definitely recommend The Farmhouse!

The service was ok, the host was great and explained that you order food up front after you decide from menus and drinks from the bar. It may seem awkward but is actually makes for a quick exit. The real disappointment was the food. We started with the calamari. That was pretty decent. The fry was similar to mozzarella sticks, the portions are huge so easily shareable. I ordered the 18 oz t-bone (medium rare), chips and cesar salad. Plenty of chips, they were longer hot and little soggy by the time they got out. The steak was the real disappointment. The cook was rare bordering on blue with very little seasoning. Additionally there was no sear on the steak and it was real tough. The fibers were present through the meat and it was poorly trimmed resulting in almost a fourth of it being inedible. The cesar dressing was real mayo forward. The atmosphere was great with plenty of folks and you could tell weekends are fun. This may have been an off meal but my food on this trip was not representative of the reviews.

Luckily we found some stool seating by the front and were able to enjoy some beers and take in the ambiance. There's an upstairs that is accessible by a very very narrow staircase which even has handles for support, all part of the fun lol!! Beer: We tried out the Guinness (great pouring process!), peroni, and a local ale which the bartender allowed me to sample. He was very helpful and walked me through the different ciders they had in stock and even how you could add fruit syrups to sweeten the flavor. What makes this place even more memorable was the helpfulness of the young guy bartending. He helped us plan how to get to Gatwick airport extremely early the next morning and we owe him a big one!

The staff was super sweet and the food was perfect. The right amount of portions and it came out warm and cooked well. I ordered and ran to the restroom. The server even kept my food underneath the warmer until I came back! The coffee is strong and for being in an airport check in lobby, it wasn't loud at all!
