They serve food throughout the week. I've always found service to be friendly, and reasonably efficient (it can get very busy in summer). I have only eaten here a few times, and the food has always been perfectly decent: the main issue in terms of both food and drinks is that it is quite expensive, reflecting the area it is in. A couple of pints of lager, with some snacks, won't leave much change out of £20. But the upstairs Terrace in particular is a nice place to chill out, and it feels away from the hectic traffic of the Broadway.

It is a large pub with a function room where people often hold birthdays, engagements or tributes. You can arrange for your own caterers to operate here, or us the kitchen that they provide. It has a quite a large car, and a huge bar separated by a couple of rooms, and it also has a really nice bear garden at the rear, which on a sunny afternoon is packed. It is quite picturesque from outside, with greenery in front and the surrounding area. It is a part of Southgate's heritage and will always have its regulars. At Friday and Saturday nights, the crowd tends to be quite young, especially when I was a regular a few years back. Though nowadays it is not so popular with the younger generation. It is a traditional pub and I will be going there this Sunday for a roast, which I have had a few times and give it top marks.

Highlights are definitely the Marvel wall and don't even get me started on the Elvis toilet and the female icon wall in the toilet (yey). Inside this great style is continued as The Alma makes a use of its cavernous structure to create several distinct seating areas littered with sofa's and old wooden tables. A walled patio area outside offers even more seating as well as a bit of comfort for smokers. The Alma also fancies itself a bit 'gastro' and has a great food menu which changes regularly. Though I found it a bit expensive for breakfast, my Eggs Benedict were lovely. With food like this and such a buzzing atmosphere The Alma is a must try for everyone!

Life doesn't get much better than that! In addition to all the comfy seating areas inside this huge pub, there is also a walled garden outside which is great during the Summer months. There's something a bit special about sitting in a London beer garden- for a few short moments you can imagine you're somewhere a bit more exotic! My odd complaint about this bar is its weird and frankly unwelcoming old toilets. When I was younger my Gran used to have a second toilet outside which was very cold and always full of spiders. The flush was one of those old chain's you have to pull really hard and the windows were always slightly mossy. Whenever I walk in to White Hart's ladies I get flash backs of this old WC like it's some horribly suppressed childhood memory. All it need is good clean and a few licks of paint to bring this loo into line with rest of the White Hart's homely interior. This aside, the White Hart is a very nice pub and a great place to lose your Sunday afternoon to.

Service was quick and waitress very polite. We visited on a Friday afternoon so the place was quiet and peaceful. Not a huge seating area on the rooftop but enough for a small group or couple on a quiet afternoon. I order the small portions of the chicken and halloumi skewers combined. The portion that arrived was huge! 3 halloumi and two chicken skewers served on flat bread with an array of dips and salad. Fantastic cooked chicken and halloumi and very flavoursome! I loved the mint dip and chutney. I also opted for a side of fries which came piping hot, perfectly salted and crunchy - wonderful. A truly great find and I will be back for more!

There are pool tables out in the back along with a large projecter screen for showing sports, although I'm not sure this survived the refurbishment. The other great things about this pub is it's large beer garden which is great in the summer as they have BBQs there, and also the pub has a cash machine which obviously is very handy! The place recently had a makeover and looks fantastic! It's definitely worth a visit
