Every detail, from the elegant crockery, the ornate homemade cakes and the rosy faced waitress, perfectly recreate a time when a nice cup of tea and a civilized chat was enough to fill an afternoon. Indeed, the atmosphere was so effective I wished I was going home to listen to the gramophone in front of a log fire. After worrying about the possible effects of drinking so much tea I left, content with the world and happy in the knowledge that there are still corners of London devoted to being a little bit British.

There are plenty of high chairs and they also offer a children's menu. If you're looking for a fast service, this is not the place for you. The slow service though added to this places charm for me, as it felt as though I was enjoying a short spell in the countryside, where time is less important. The Quince Tree café also cater for private parties and wedding receptions. If you're in the area, it is well worth a visit.

The staff are lovely, the service was quick and they are great at swiftly clearing tables so everyone can enjoy this wonderful little lunch spot.
