Sure. Why not give this place 5 stars. So as people have mentioned it is in the cheese shop. There is seating in the back and outside which is surpraiingly nice. In fact the whole experience was great. There was a short line when I went for lunch. I finally got up to the register and asked the last of she like the brisket or the Philly sandwich better? "Ooooohh that is a tough one - I like them both. Philly is a hit more food but flavorful but the brisket is good and probably one of our most popular sandwiches." Nice!!! And how is the Mac and cheese? "people love it but it is a bit cheesy just so you know". Ok so let me get the brisket sandwich, the Philly cheesesteak sandwich and the Mac and cheese. We accidentally came here and I would say this was the best part of our Sonoma weekend trip! Ordered the platter which is a assortment of ribs, brisket, pulled pork & sausage served with pickles, dinner rolls & sauces. They said it would serve 2 but I would say this is big enough for 3 people to eat and be full. Hell if you order a side or 2, then even a party of 4 may be able to share this. Some of the best BBQ I've had in NorCal! We visited on a rainy Saturday at lunchtime and it wasn't busy at all. It's located in a little market, and there's dog friendly casual patio seating outside. Every cut in the three meat sampler platter was really flavorful and tender. I loved the bread that it came with too to make little bbq sandwiches; those were devoured so fast. I knew they were known for bbq, so I wanted to try out something that featured bbq meats even though it was pretty early in the afternoon. My partner and I got/split a BLT and a brisket sandwich. My wife and son and I stopped in for lunch to go while visiting Sonoma from Napa. Based on the yelp reviews I was pretty excited. Overall I would say it's solid bbq. The sliced tri tip was moist and obviously good quality well marbled beef but the wine marinade wasn't my favorite. But I guess it's in keeping with wine country . To me though it left it tasting a little sour. Good but just not to my taste. The ribs were also very good. Not a ton of smoke flavor but nice texture and good meaty ribs. Pretty nice stumble on a late afternoon weekend lunch. This legit bbq joint subleases the back corner area of The Sonoma Cheese Company's store. They have a kitchen and a pick-up window in that corner with communal tables, a few TV screens and a patio off to the side. But you have to place your order at one of the registers up front in the main store. I saw lots of people try to order at that pick-up window to only get sent back into the main store. Once order gets placed, your food is ready pretty quick, like less than 10 minutes for mine. Mortadella Sandwich ($15/4.5*) Outside of legit smoked meats, this place also does a few well made deli sandwiches, more Italian style from my look. This was a great sandwich all around. From the soft yet chewy Italian roll, to the thinly sliced mortadella that was folded atop each other so it has an airy bite versus a dense bite. To the fresh and soft mozzarella slices to the generous schmear of vibrant pesto with notable flecks of nuts. I suppose my only knock was that it could have used some produce like arugula to break up the heavy cured meat bites. Tri-Tip ($30/lb-4*) I ordered a half pound and they were really generous with their serving, which will get me to come back for sure. I loved the texture of their tri-tip as they actually kept it medium-ish with a touch of pink even, so it was so satisfyingly chewy yet tender. Great spice rub bark, but they also marinade this in something with soy and citrus. The flavor was initially well received, but the more bites I took, the more it got tiresome, like I just wanted more natural beef flavor. I think they could make this marinade either a bit more balanced or less intense. Coleslaw ($8/3.5*) Their small size could easily feed 2-3. Beautifully shredded cabbage, like they use a mandolin as it was so fine and consistent. Perfectly dressed amount wise as it was still crunchy but well coated. But their slaw dressing is very mild, bordering on bland. Needs more tang/sweet balance. Brisket ($33/5*) I got a half pound of this as well. Nice thick slices that hold up when you pick it up, it doesn't break from it's own weight. Noticeable pink smoke ring and great texture and flavor. Smoke is definitely on the heavier side without a tough and dry bark. They definitely got their process down. So this place wasn't around last time I was in this town a few years ago but so glad they are now here. I hope they thrive cuz I'd love for them to be a staple resource for my getaways here. This spot is located Downtown Sonoma and has a good variety of BBQ dishes & sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches, baked goods, coffee, and more. They had seating both inside and outside which was nice. We stopped in for a quick lunch and ordered ahead for pick up as we were on a tight schedule. The food sadly wasn't ready on time so they started making it after I arrived. They apologized as it was a ticketing system error. We sat down to eat and had to go back up to asked for bbq sauces. I got the Grilled Cheese which didn't really have a flavor pop. Overpriced, small portions, and overall poor quality. For two small sandwiches, a side of mac and cheese and two waters the total was $70. The mac and cheese is microwaved slop. How do I know? Because ours came out completely cold in the middle. I had to have them reheat, which they did. My sandwich, the BLT, was burnt. Bread was black and rock hard, and to my surprise the only ingredients were bacon, lettuce, and tomato. No sauces, no aioli, no flavor, nothing. $17 for burnt bread and 3 ingredients. My partner got the tri tip and although the sandwich was skinny and small like mine, his has a lot of meat and was delicious. The bread was not burned, the meat was great, and the aioli was amazing. I got the heirloom tomato salad and she had the pulled pork sandwich and we both ate every bite. My better half, the little guy and I shared it because we had just eaten breakfast a couple hours earlier and with a bag of chips, it was enough for all of us. TRI TIP HEAVEN!! My group ordered 2 of the tri tip sandwiches and mushroom burger. We did not expect the tri tip to be as good as it was!! Bread was really fresh and tri tip super tender and perfect mediumish cook. The spreads added a perfect touch (we didnt really taste the cranberry in the cranberry chimichurri but it wasn't missed). Overall the sandwich was just really fresh, good portion, and not too heavy or greasy. I don't get tri tip sandwiches that often but this is probably the best I've ever had (others thought it was one of the better ones as well). From the person who had the mushroom burger, be aware that they use a scoop of small mushrooms (not a portobello and not a mushroom patty). They said it was good but more basic than the tri tip. I probably only come to Napa/sonoma every few years (coming from LA) but this tri tip sandwich will be a must every time from here on out. I'm so glad I got it because it was incredibly flavorful and juicy. The chimmichurri and chipotle cheese paired very well with the meat. The bread was fresh too and soaked up all the delicious tri tip juices and sauces as well. I was worried about the size at first not being enough but that ended up not being a problem -- I was more than full by the end. As other comments have noted the sandwiches on the pricier side though. One downside is that there were flies everywhere both outside and then inside when I tried to move away from the flies outside. The place looked hygenic otherwise, but it was hard to eat as the flies kept trying to land on my food. Maybe next time I go, I'll order out and sit at the park nearby. read more

I have wanted to visit Butcherman since I learned they have gluten free bread. I was very excited for a bbq sandwich, which I didn't end up having. Their gluten free bread is a bun and could be used only for a pulled pork sandwich according to the cashier. I then opted for the brisket by the pound and it was incredibly tasty. Perfectly cooked and melt in your mouth. I got a side of potato salad and it was way under seasoned and overly goopy thus the reason for 4 stars vs 5. For gluten eaters there are many options. They rave about the barbecued brisket, and strongly recommended the sandwich. Unfortunately I may have chosen to lunch there on an off-day. When we entered at noon, the eatery was strangely empty. No other customers and a small staff. Not an encouraging sign considering the hour and location, but the service at the ordering desk was prompt, but not very helpful when we asked for menu information. A language barrier I suspect. Indoor seating is limited so we chose an outdoor table where we found ourselves to be the only diners present. The outdoor ambiance was poor compared to other eateries in Sonoma. When our beeper rang, my daughter scurried off to pick-up our food and drinks. There was no table service, another bad sign considering the prices. My thick-cut slab of brisket was almost inedible. Tough, nearly tasteless and served on a soft bun with pickled onions. The meat was probably smoke-roasted days earlier and then microwaved.
