Most of our party's dinner plates came with a trip to the salad bar however they seemed to have trouble keeping it stocked and once they would restock it would be out within minutes. During our stay, no cars drove past. There was no highway noise and no street noise. Our first night was the last night for the family at their lake cabin that's about a half football field away. We did nor see them. But we heard fireworks that one might. The spacious cottage is situated in a way that the owner's home a short walk away on property is not visible. For the most part, Sundlower Hideaway looks toward the two country roads that dead end at the cottage. Even those roads are obscured from clear view by sunflower decor, bushes, bird feeders, nestboxes, and birdbaths. To bring the tree'd outside in, I raised the shades and pulled open the shears upon arrival and, except for the room darkening shades in the bedroom (which, with door closed, actually darkened the bed room during broad daylight), they all stayed open during our stay. No one was within view. The Sunrise Patio has a wide open sky that was perfect for early morning birdwatching. I grabbed coffee and started the free Merlin app that identifies birds by sound. Birds Merlin heard included Kentucky Warbler, Fish Crow, Chimney Swift (there are two Chimney Swift towers on the property), Tufted Titmouse, Red-headed Woodpecker, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Red-eyed Vireo, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Wood Thrush, Blue Jay, Carolina Chickadee, Carolina Wren, Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Northern Cardinal, Purple Martin, and more. Throughout the day we watched hummingbirds from the spacious covered back porch. For hours, I kept my legs up on the chaise lounge. Chatting. Listening. Reading. Napping. Drinking a beer. In the evening, from the pier, for a few short minutes we watched Chimney Swifts dive into the tower built for their nesting activities. And, we heard them inside the tower that's just outside the bedroom window. We enjoyed fishing with a pole from the pier in the evening. We caught and released quite a few little fish. It was fun. The well-stocked kitchen and full size refrigerator made possible meal cooking. Marsha provided breakfast muffins. The sunflower decor throughout, inside and outside, brought smiles over and over. Sunflower Hideaway is a fun, pleasant adventure .... and, as such, it's romantic.

They were hit by a tornado. last year that did quite a bit of damage. i was in the area for work and my dad asked me to go by and take a look so we could book a spot for our campers for a couple of week. I was so disappointed. I called my dad and sent some pictures. he couldn't believe it. little work had been done to restore the park. They did rebuild the fish cleaning house. they had a new fishing pier being built. nothing like before. we would take our party barge and take mom and dad out for boat rides and fishing. the new pier doesn't have boat slips like the old one so they aren't able to get on and off the boat and unloading it every time is a headache. The old pier they would take their lawn chairs and cooler sit on the pier and fish and visit with the locals and other fishermen. there is no way that can happen now. the pier has a fence around it that is to tall to sit in a chair and fish. I drove around the park looking for a good spot for the rv and there were very few as not all the waterfront lots have been releveled.. our new rv has 3 slide outs and most of the spaces are to small. the park up keep has declined. trash bin areas are falling apart and only saw about 2 picnic tables that look sturdy enough to hold all 4 of us. the roads in the park need graded and new gravel. I went in the store to get a burger before I headed back. i asked about the rebuilding. i was told they didn't have any insurance on the park and no money to get thing all done. i was told by a gentleman in the store that people donated quite a bit of money to help them out. that some fisherman donated counters for the fish house. i follow them on face book and saw where they had been in business for over years and was looking forward to 50+ more. i personally don't see that happening if they don't invest back into the park. If i had donated money to help rebuild the park back to what people loved and appreciated enough to donate to it i would highly disappointed. it is a shame we won't be spending our 2 weeks there this year. this is so sad to see....
