We stopped in while walking around the area. The place is really cute and has a retro vibe. The candy and fudge counters were pretty limited. They had worked hard to stretch the hard wrapped candy throughout the store to make it look fuller. The prices are average for a candy store. I got a Jack Daniels truffle. It was $2, very rich, and good. They also offered beverages. It was cool to walk through quickly. read more

Cute candy shop with chocolate covered candies, different kinds of fudge, and retro packaged candy. I was visiting Salisbury for the first time, so I drank CheerWine every chance I got. I was happy they had Cheerwine in the glass bottle here. I also got some chocolate covered honey comb, they called it sponge candy here. The lady who helped me with candy was super nice! The man also gave us a box of popcorn for free since he was ready to close up. It was the kind of experience you hope for in a small town candy store! read more

My wife swears by this shop. She loves candy, but usually has to stick to the limited sugar-free varieties that are available in grocery stores and other places. She and her sister went to The Candy Shoppe last time we were in Salisbury, and she raved about the sugar free candy selection. I am going to forward this Yelp business site my wife (also a Yelper) so she can go into detail about what she found. For one, she showed me the sugar free Vines (similar to Twizzlers), which I had never seen. She let me taste one and they were quite good, you can't really taste the difference. The regular "full sugar" part of the store seems to be amazing, but again, I will let my wife fill you in. Kudos to The Candy Shoppe...you usually can only find this type of selection in larger cities. If you are in or near Salisbury, NC, try this place out...you won't be sorry. I was with three of my friends (all of whom are extremely kind and honest people) and the woman I assume was the owner loudly yelled across the entire shop to one of them because she thought my friend was stealing -- she was trying to get her wallet out to play for her 89 cent candy! We tried to stay for a bit because we actually did want to buy something, but the dirty looks in our direction and the rude whispers, coupled with the fact that the owner had brought the attention of the entire store to us, drove us and any future business from us, our friends, or our colleagues, out the door. read more

This is a cute candy store on Main Street. I would give it 4 stars but they do not make the candy there. The owner said they get it from a local place. I tried the fudge and a few chocolates. The fudge was good. They had your basic flavors and a few special ones. I tried the red velvet fudge and it was pretty good. The chocolates I tried were the dark chocolate coconut and the sea salt caramel. Both were good. The store smells like sugar and they have a lot of kids of candy. My family and I were in the area and decided to stop in to get some candy for our family movie night. They have a decent variety of prepackaged candy, some jelly beans/loose candy by the pound as well as a chocolate and fudge counter. My husband and child made the loop around the store while I chose some of the candies from the counter. I did get a nice variety of several types. The young lady who waited on me was very nice and very informative. She helped to explain what each type was and what was in it, as I have a tree nut allergy. My husband even found a new type of root beer in a cooler in the back. When we went to ring out the gentleman who was also behind the counter explained it was an older brand around from the 30's! We all ended up with some sweet treats. Overall, it was a cute place and we had a nice visit. We will definitely be back. read more

I used to come in here regularly, but the way they treat their patrons is awful. Candy is ok, but they are rude, loud, and extremely slow.

Surprised to find this store open on a Sunday we were in downtown Salisbury. Walked in and the selection was outstanding. So much to choose from and see. Unfortunately the employees (maybe the owners) behind the counter we less than welcoming. They were bickering among themselves to the point it was off putting and rude. While visiting some friends, we had some time to kill, so ended up in downtown Salisbury, which was a great surprise! The Candy Shoppe was a must-see for us, as we love old-timey candy stores. They have a great selection, but a lot of stuff is behind the counter, so you'll likely have to get someone to help you. The service was great- the owner helped us out and was super nice. He recommended Hammond's chocolate bars, telling us how they have to order a box a week of each kind during Christmas, all except one kind, which they order 8 boxes of a week... Pigs N' Taters. We obviously HAD to have it, then, so bought one of that and another Hammond's Smores bar. The Smores bar was fantastic, one of the best bars of chocolate we've had. The Pigs N' Taters bar was... well, let's say the owner was trying to get rid of them, so likely made up that story. They were disgusting, with artificially flavored bacon bits and potato chips in a chocolate bar- just not a good mix. We still loved the store, just feel like we were taken advantage of a little bit. read more

Good selection of candy, but owner and employees were overly chatty with each other and customers, in my humble opinion. It took waaaaay too long to wrap up the fudge I purchased, which was good but nothing special. Had I seen the TRUMP poster hanging on the wall in their back room prior to giving them my money, I would've walked out due to moral and ethical issues. Fair warning. We have been coming up from Concord to visit a relative in the hospital in Salisbury. Our nephew told us about The Candy Shoppe on Main so we had to check it out. My husband purchased the double-dipped chocolate peanuts which are half again larger than others I have seen. I had to have some of the pecan praline fudge and the white chocolate haystacks. Everything looks delicious and they have hundreds of different retail candies. Next time, I plan to spend a little more time!! read more
