I headed off across the Stateline (trusting my usually reliable Yelp directions) and found myself In beautiful and very rural MS. With the exception of a tire shop and an occasional mailbox there was nothing but trees and wildflowers. The directions told me to park on the highway and continue by foot...WHAT??? I could hear the banjos!!! I continued over the hill another 300 feet and there right on the highway was the little store. (Relief)! What I found inside wasn't the highest end selection of wines and beers but a beautiful proprietor named Rita. She was so delightful that I stayed and visited with her for over an hour. While I was there, several of the locals stopped in...not to buy anything but to tell Rita what was going on in their lives. She was kind and encouraging and I was struck by her beauty; inside and out. I'll be on the road home In a few days all stocked up, but you can bet next time I come to Red Bay, I'll take a little trip up to Russellville to see Rita.

The gentleman at the counter expressed regret, and informed me that Corinth no longer had a good humidor. I told him I was visiting from out of town. He then went to his truck, retrieved a cigar, and presented it as a gift. His hospitality left me in awe. Another time, I went in shopping for bourbon, and made an off-handed comment about my opinion of a particular distillery's single barrel edition. The same gentleman behind the counter began to dazzle me with his knowledge of whiskey production and its impact on taste. He made a recommendation that I immediately followed, and was delighted with what I got. The gentleman behind the counter is an expert and a professional. Also the selection is excellent.
